1  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Silly Birds?*Update* on: April 30, 2008 02:30:09 PM
I'm participating in a craft fair in June and I wanted to add a new feltie to my other critters so I made these two birds.  The red one has been growing on me and I think it turned out okay but the yellow one looks kind of off to me (maybe it's the color combo?).  I thought maybe I could get some opinions on what people thought.  Maybe they need feet, but I wanted to keep them simple and partridge-like.  Anyway, here are my silly birds.....

Thanks for your help!

*Update*

I changed the button eye to a better button and it looks tons better.  Here is the new yellow bird!

2  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Green Owlie! on: August 09, 2007 06:24:28 PM
I made this green owl on Monday when I was home from work recovering from having my wisdom teeth out.  He definately made me feel better!  I haven't given him any feet yet though, but here he is (next to tiny santa)!

3  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Work Apron on: August 09, 2007 02:37:06 PM
I work as a display artist and always need to have screws and things handy, but a tool belt is just not working for me so I made this!

I am still only a mediocre seamstress, but I am getting better!  I kind of made this up as I went but it all worked out and has all the pockets I need for things.  Hope you like it!
4  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Eco Happy Grocery Totes! on: July 22, 2007 01:18:59 PM
I am currently on a mission to stop bringing home plastic bags from the grocery store, etc.  (Have you seen how many bags they insist on giving you when you only buy like 10 things??)  So I have been experimenting with making fun totes to carry (cause you have to look good while carrying your own grocery bag!)  These are pre-bought bags customized with felt applique and embroidery.  I bought these first two bags because I'm not an awesome seamstress yet, but now I see how easy they are and I will be making the bags myself from now on!  Anyway, here are the pictures!

Thanks for looking everyone!
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Cocktail Umbrella Hanging Lamp on: October 04, 2006 05:12:22 PM
I had seen a few of these around and especially nice ones on this website http://www.brightlights-littlecity.com/ ,
but I wanted to make a pendant style one for our Tiki room!  It took about 15 minutes and cost nothing since I already had all the stuff!  I used a clip light from Dollar Tree to illuminate it.

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Canvas Painted Clutches! on: October 04, 2006 11:25:54 AM
I made these clutches a couple of weeks ago because I am trying to teach myself to sew on my machine.  They started out as basic canvas scraps I had left over from some paintings.  I painted the raw canvas flat, sewed a big 'ol rectangle and added some snaps.  Then I added the jute braided trim and the vintage buttons (they were my great-grandmothers, who was an incredible seamstress...why didn't I inherit her skill?)  This is my first project post!  Yay!

They look a little bloated in the pics because I stuffed them with bubble wrap!
7  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Mixed Media Works-Updated with Pics! on: September 21, 2006 09:36:50 AM
Hi All!

Just thought I would post some of my work here.  I am a mixed media painter/printmaker that recently graduated college with my BFA.  The imagery in these paintings all relate to abstractions of cancer.  They are from a body of work called The Simplicity Works, which has hand sewn passages and collage work.  The collaged portions are all vintage Simplicity patterns and directions.  Most of these are on raw canvas, sewn onto a burlap wrapped stretcher.

Update:  I can now add pictures to my posts so I've edited to add them.  Maybe I'll actually get a reply now!

There are more pictures and an artist statement on my art blog (which hasn't been updated in a couple of months).  Thanks for looking guys!
