ahhh im so proud. this is my first thing other than pj pants made completely from scratch. i've already worn it!!
sorry for the face-- i wastrying to unstick a jolly rancher from my teeth when my mom took the pic.. hehe. i'd some some feedback! oh and the black part isnt part of it, its a shirt i was too lazy to take off.
hey there! i'm having a little trouble with my first attempt at making a dress from scratch. mostly... how do you line it?? it doesnt need to be impressive (its not for an event or anything) so could i go without lining it? should i use the same fabric or a lighter weight one? it a stetchy cotton blend. thanks!!
thats the bottom part... it will be about 7 inches longer when i put the bodice on it dont worry haha. so yea... please help?!
is that NOT fabulous?? yes, well, the price tag thinks so too. its almost $400, and i just dont have that sort of money. soooo i said, why not make it myself? However i'm not sure how to go about that because i am a beginner sewer and there are some techniques in there that i've never used before. So, my questions 1. is there a pattern anywhere i could find this? 2. can i buy fringe and sew it on in strips, or do i have to make the fringe one by one? 3. the bodice/bra thing... what do i line that with? it looks really stiff and starchy, almost like you couldnt bend it.
thanks so so so so soooo much. i want to have this dress for my sweet 16 this summer!
Soooo what with this cold weather and all, i have decided that i am not satisfied with my hardwood flooring in my room. And its not good hardwood flooring, so dont yell at me. Its pretty crappy and i've even gotten a splinter. So anyway. My mother doesn't agree with my on my color choice. Since she's buying it and has to deal with it when i go to college in two years, she has to like it. I won't tell you what color i want so that you wont be biased. not like you have any reason to agree with me but whatever. onto the photos!
sorry i'm taking up most of them, they werent taken for this purpose. So please try to look at the wall color.
and thats my comforter. Wall trim is white, and my furniture will be too (once i paint it, cuz none of the wood matches)
Hiya girls! I know im planning early, but i want to make sure everything is perfect. I was talking this over with my best friend and it seems like we have almost all the details done, but i wanted to run it by you guys and see what you thought!
So. My birthday is in July, which i think is perfect. The night after my birthday a nightclub has an under 18 dance party. Well anyway. So i'd make my girlfriends (im bringing 6 or 7) get all dressed up, you know, knee length eye-catching dresses that are sophisticated but still fun and flirty. Then I'd get a limo (speaking of which, i can't seem to find a good deal for an 8-passenger limo in the boston area. ideas?) and drive into boston. My original idea was to go to a really nice restaurant so we could feel all grown up etc but then i realized that the limo is already gunna be $350+. So instead, we'll drive through good ol' mcdonalds (or the like) and just pig out in the limo. Thennn i was thinking because we'd have a little bit of time to kill, we could take a walk on the beach. Then it'll be time to head over to SAUGUS to partyyyyyyyyyy at the club. We'll probably have a change of clothes because high heels and dresses are difficult (and dangerous!) to dance in. There, we will get our daily dose of testosterone. My friend was complaining that i'm not inviting any guys but then i told her we were going clubbing. So then around 11, we'd come home. Maybe i'd have a sleepover? Oh and instead of getting my a present, everyone will chip in a little bit for the limo, because really i dont need anything, but i DO want a limo and simply dont have the cash. and i dont think my dad wants to pay for it either because last summer i got to go to italy and a kelly clarkson concert. So this year i want to pay myself. Which brings me to ask, again, if anyone could suggest a good, cheap, limo service? Thanks so much! Please tell me what you think.
its not too shabby, if i say so myself. its red, so i feel really confident in it. well... i havent worn it out yet but thats because i just finished it and its too cold. but anyway, it gave me enough confidence to post it up here even though my boobs are popping out. (never thought i say that... double A? ha.) well anyway. it was a giant shirt i got from Goodwill. The collar/neckhole was large enough to fit around my bust and when i unbottoned it it created a cute sweatheart (i think?) neckline. and i pretty much sewed off the sleeves and added some straps from an old bathing suit tied in a halter and thats it. anyway, onto the pics!! (sorry-- they're sideways and a little blurry)
^my bed modeling it
^bust detail on me. sorry, cover up was necessary.
^plain. except i felt kinda naked so...
i threw on some tights. this is the slut version! yay! you cant see my uber-high heels. hehe
^the conservative version. probably the way i will wear it... like... ALWAYS. haha. no one besides you will ever see it elsewise lol.
so... really this is my first real sewing project. i've made the pajama pants and some crappy shirts for my dog. but this is the first thing i can wear! yay! i'd love some feedback. what do you think?
hey everyone! Like many of you, i am making a couple of hot/cold rice satchels for christmas presents. However, i cant finish them because i dont have anything to scent them with. I dont want to use lavendar because... well, i just dont like it. What are my other options (not just scents, but products) and where might i find them? Thanks so much!
*edit* oh yea. so i was gunna make my little stepbrothers some pajama pants but it appears i underestimated them and got too little fabric. i think i got... 2? one and a half?... yards of each oh these. what can i make them instead?
Hello everyone! So christmas is coming, and usually i just get my dad a neck tie (like for his birthday an father's day too. eek ) so i figured this year it would be more special to make one, because i've just learned how to sew. a little more personal and time-consuming to show i care, you know? Anyone have a good pattern?
hey everyone. i was just wondering if there were any other people from indiana on this site who were teenagers? I moved here just in august and im still having a hard time adjusting/making friends. let me know and maybe we could have a group crafting session or something
Hi everyone. As im sure many of you know, JoAnns was having some super sales last week and i got sooo much flannel fabric cuz it was only 99 cents a yard (i know right?!?). So, i figured i'd just make everyone pajama pants for christmas. However, upon further thought, i believe i dont have the time to do that- especially because im a newbie with the sewing machine.
So my question is, what else can i do with flannel? i was thinking pillows, scarves, boxers, hot rice satchels, and makeup pouches. But i have to make stuff for 5 guys (sucks being the only girl in the family) and i dont think they'd get much of a kick out of a makeup pouch. The fabric i got for them is white with red and green money signs and two others with deer and owls and stuff (mimicking abercrombie)
and just for fun, this is the material for my mom and friends, respectively:
So again, any ideas for projects that wont take very long made from flannel? I will be forever grateful!! Thanks!
