hello fellow craftsters!! Next week is the IJCL (indiana junior classical league) Convention at IU (i know, total dorkdorm! but i love it!) annd i so happen seem to have entered myself in the jewelry competition! i dont make much jewelry, but it seemed like a fun competition to try, plus the entries last year were like made out of playdough
So could you gals offer some advice on how to make any of these, or some other ancient roman jewelry? Thanks!! (I'm thinking Sculpey and paint, how bout you?) 1. 2.[/size] 3. 4.
... if there is such a thing i made this for my friend's 17th bithday party. She's really into the emo thing right now, and much as it doesnt make me happy, she likes it. so i figured just this once, for her birthday, i'd indulge her. anyway, i whipped this up in about an hour and half before my plane ride (which was delayed 2 hours and took 7 hours additionally in the plane... supposed to be 2 hours. UGHHH WINTER WEATHER)
its reversible too! and her wearing it i was a little uncertain if she'd like it, cuz she got a couple hoodies and other stuff all from hottopic, and mine was crappily made by me but she wore it all night so i think i was successful. oh and i made her cake! he's getting candle acupuncture in this picture
This was an EXTREMELY last minute costume... i mean, i finished sewing on the ears about 10 minutes before heading out. hence, its pretty simple. I took a black IU sweatshirt i had, and turned it inside out so there were no words. i sewed and painted the ears, sewed and painted the striped on the tail, stuffed it with socks, and attached it to the bottom of the hoodie. then i sewed the ears on. finally i just put on some raccoon-y makeup! and fishnets... i mean, halloween is the only time i can get away with that! onto the pictures! uhoh, my ear flopped down!
I, like many of you, am a little stuck for costume ideas. i found this bear costume that someone on here posted last year, im sorry i cant remember the username , which i might make
but maybe i want to be a mummy.... similar length dress, ripped dirty sheets/gauze, etc.
but i also want to be something pretty where i oculd wear nice makeup. i'd make it and want it to be kinda different/original/easy cuz i dont have much time!
so, here's the deal. my house is, well, a disaster. I, being 16, cannot pay to hire an interior designer and my parents are cheapasses ( did i just say that?!) anyway i have a huge favor to ask
help us redo our home!
if i like your ideas i'll make you something. probably something small though and a batch of cookies! cuz who doesnt like cookies? haha. oh well, i think you guys will have fun anyway. SO! onto the pictures.
the living room
i'd say its a mess, but honestly it looks like this most of the time. we need to maximize storage.
(view from the fireplace)
the dining room this room does usually look better but my brother was about to move to college, so this was collecting some stuff.
thanks so much if you're willing to help us out! i'm mainly looking for wall color, furniture, storage, curtains, accessories but any ANY help at all would be appreciated haha. thanks again!!
So i was sooooo bored yesterday because all of my friends decided to go to europe ( ) and i decided i would come onto craftster and search for some inspiration.
so, at the moment i am trying to complete a project for a craft swap that i want to ship tomorrow. perfect time for my sewing machine to crap out on me, right?
so first, i was sewing, sewing... everything normal. then all of a sudden my needle pops out. i didnt sew over a pin or anything. i wasnt even using any. So i'm pretty sure i figured out how to put in back in. then i tried sewing again and the top thread either unthreaded itself or broke or both. So i try again and the same thing happens... and i try again and somehow i need to rethread my bobbin, and i go to do it... and my needle wont even pick up the thread! So i figure that was my problem, and pull down the needle a little bit so it can reach the thread. So i get it threaded... AND IT STILL WONT SEW! it keeps breaking/unthreading on top.
For mother's day, i decided to make my wonderful mommy some wonderful earrings! and (gasp!) they're actually done already... not 15 minutes before her dinner.
anyway, you know how when you were little you made bookmarks by pouring tacky glue onto the top of a hard pencil case? Yea, me neither, but a lot of people said they did.
Well, i figured i could do that in other ways. So I poured some glue onto a clean smooth plastic surface and spread it into a circle. Then i put on beads when the glue got slightly thick. And ring beads up top. Then the glue dried, and i peeled it off, and voila! Earrings.
those babies next to em are gunna be earrings too! yay fried marbles! oh, i forgot to mention i just poked a hole through the ring beads, added some string and a big bead, and tied it off on the hook. plus there's glitter in the glue. hehehhe i love me my sparkles!!
i tried a search on this and came up with nothing. So, i ask you, how can you make jeans low-rise? or, how do you shorten a zipper? i hate hate hate when i come across a really cute pair of jeans and then they come up to my belly button... ugh.
