11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Corset Sachets & Pattern plus luggage tag on: April 20, 2009 03:52:30 PM
Hey Everyone - I feel like I haven't been able to share anything I've been working on forever all top secret and such but I couldn't take it anymore and I wanted to show you my latest creation and give you the pattern if you need one but I would appreciate you creditting me if you use the pattern.  They are really fun to make except for the lavender part which is messy.

the hot pink design I did by actually drawing on the fabric and then stitching so it isn't exactly the same as my pattern and the pink and aqua is not yet made into a sachet...I sew them together and stuff them with lavender and I think they are awesome...oh and as a bonus a luggage tag I created for a swap recently

this one is my favorite but I used my template and the transfer went on a little dark on the cream felt and was hard to get out

bonus

14  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Hand Embroidered Patch Swap 2 on: January 22, 2009 01:59:08 PM
Hey Everyone!

I am tentatively thinking about organizing this swap again if there is sufficient interest.  The gallery from the previous one is here:

http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=205584

and it works like this you can sign up to make patches for a minimum of 2 or a maximum of 5 people...the patches will either be quiltable (on quilt fabric and the design on grain with the fabric) or ironable (on felt with the potential to be ironed on to something with fusible web).

This swap is international with one fixed deadline for all agreed to patches to be sent.

Post if you are interested and we'll see if we can't set this up for sometime in Feb/March.

Cheers,
rectangel

hey everyone Smiley  I'm interested to know who is interested in having a pillow cover or make a pillow swap?

I will organize if we have enough people.

The project would be considered one extra large item and at this point I am going to limit extras to one small thing purchase or made that will go in the room the pillow is for.

Dates: Sign-ups January 9th - January 23 Sending February 25.

Here's my WIP Details of the Swap - let me know if you have anything you think should be added

You will be making or decorating a pillow or pillow slip/cover like aina from ikea http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/10070728 (minimum size of 12" by 12") - NO PILLOWCASES.

Embellishment could consist of quilting, embroidery, transfers, buttons, ribbon, permanent drawing but whatever the case it should be mutally agreeable and done in a style that will suit your partner's tastes (which may include regular washing).

WIP Questionnaire:

Name etc
What room will this pillow be featured in?
What colors would work well?
What kind of embellishment would you prefer?
What style of things do you generally like?

Will you need to wash this pillow often?
Would you prefer a pillow or removable pillow slip?
What types of embellishment would you be comfortable doing?
16  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Sweet dreams baby ;) on: December 01, 2008 10:56:33 AM
Just had to pop in and show off the present I just finished for a friends new baby and her son.  Since the Russian dolls pattern came out I had big dreams of creating a double sided doll or a puppet set with dolls inside of dolls but I realized that I needed to get these done and not just plan more and more complicated versions of them so I stitched these up along with some unpink double sided receiving blankets for my friend.

Many thanks to the craftster projects that came before mine as I got the idea to outline stitch the body from BrookOwens and mamaphunks doll which made me realize simple might be the better choiceI didnt loop the ribbon or add a button because I wanted it to be totally baby safe.  Another nice feature of this project is that I got to use some of my favorite fabrics for the back of these which is always nice because I am not so much a sewer as a fabric collector Wink

Sadly I forgot to photo the doll flat and the back of the little dog for her sonit always amazes me when I download my photos what remember to photo and then the things I totally overlook Wink

17  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Better Late than Never Tea Towels on: October 08, 2008 12:47:53 PM
These are a housewarming present that is now long overdue.  The blue flame is my favorite part and I think the flaming martini is my most used pattern (I must however state for the record that should a pattern for a shaker ever appear on the scene my world would then be complete).

This version of the swallow from the stitch-it kit is one I have never used until now as I am especially partial to the swallow from the big book...I used it here because I wanted the banner.  I was practicing filling in on this pattern and it made me lose interest but I do like how the colors came out in the end.  Enjoy!

18  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Viva the quick weekend project on: August 25, 2008 10:15:36 AM
So ever since I made this design in all black I have been dying to make it in color and this weekend I finally had cause and time.  I made this for a friend and it was quick and fun.  I love the colors -red was the perfect backdrop so that I could make the dice traditional white and black.  This towel is really loosely woven so the design is almost all 6 stranded.

and here is a slice of life photo for you keeners with the rest of what I was up to this weekend raspberry jam, raspberry peach jam, lemon poppyseed cake in a jar, in the background my source recipe from cooks country and black bottom cupcakes in a jar all on my kitchen table and if you look closely rita's apron on the chair in the background Wink

Details of swap: Welcome to the 4th round of the tea towel tour.  For this round we are allowing participants from all over but we have a limited number of international spots.  So, please sign up early if you are interested.

This swap is a great way to get to know people and improve your skills.  We welcome all levels to join.  The swap is an hand embroidery tour.  It will test your time management skills and your embroidery skills as you have ONLY ONE WEEK PER DESIGN.  You can send a cloth napkin, a pillow size square of fabric, an apron, or a tea towel, whatever you choose to send make sure it is washable, lightweight, light colored, suitable for hand embroidery, and pinked or basted if the edges are raw.  DO NOT ask permission to send bulky, heavy items, or dark colored items.

Before you send attach with a safety pin or baste a tag to your towel with your name and address and put your towel into a Ziploc bag.  You may want to include a card to your fellow stitchers letting them know a little about you or your kitchen.  If you have time you may want to start off your towel but this is not a must and should not interfere with you making the sending deadline.

When you receive a towel YOU HAVE ONE WEEK from its arrival date until it needs to shipped out again.  When a towel arrives you need to let your group organizer and the sender know.

When you ship a towel you must PM the receiver and your group organizer and let them know (include the DC # if you are sending from a US address to a US address).    If you are running late let your group organizer know ASAP.   Communication is key failure to communicate could result in you being skipped or dropped.

Although this idea originally started with Sublime Stitching you can use any embroidery design you like and post it in the gallery as soon as you are done.  For this round we are requiring that you that credit the source of your images and only use imagery you have obtained legitimately and is of known origins and copyright free.  It is required you get permission for designs that you have not purchased, created or are not available as unlicensed designs (free).   Additionally, it would be thoughtful to add a link to your source.

Anyone who is not in contact on a weekly basis via posts or PMs without notifying their group organizer will be considered flaking.  FLAKERS SLOW DOWN THEIR WHOLE GROUP, PLEASE MAKE SURE YOUR SCHEDULE CAN ACCOMODATE THE TIME COMMITMENT.  The estimated time for completion of this swap is mid October for USA groups, and November or early December for international groups.

If you want to participate, send the following information to the organizer:
