211  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re:Chinese Papercuts on: January 30, 2004 02:28:19 PM
If you were to scan the papercut (assuming it's not too big), you could print it onto transfer paper, and iron on the design.

I really like the idea of mounting it on silk... Depending on how much you're willing to spend, you could make a headboard with a silk front in a contrasting color, and mount the papercut on top. What's especially great is if you combined all the above ideas (stencilling in order to make copies, lampshade, etc.) you could redecorate an entire room based on the motif. For instance, if you decided to do your bedroom, you could do the headboard, have a lamp with the lampshade on your side table, sheer curtains with the papercut design, and maybe even a bedspread wtih the design, too!

I'm sorry, I get so caught up in things! I'm seriously jealous of you and your papercut opportunities now...  Grin

I haven't personally tried it, but some people take off the soup can labels and decoupage photographs to the can. It's an interesting way to display pictures, and doesn't require a lot of $$.

I hope you're at least displaying those shoes because, cracks or no, they're stinkin awesome.

Seriously, if anyone finishes a tie skirt, I'd LOVE to see some photos and maybe a tutorial?? I read an article about them at www.seattletimes.com, probably a week ago. The designer they featured was selling them for $100 or $200 (don't remember exact figure, just way out of my meager budget).

Great job on the purse!

If you felt like it, you could carve it into a face, add ears, paint it, give it a bandanna or hair... I saw some coconut pirates in a gift shop this summer, and they were great! I had to buy one...  Wink
