7681  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Sesame Street in Duct Tape on: May 27, 2007 09:46:52 AM
Very cute! I'd carry and use one of these. And when lint and stuff sticks to the wallet along the seams, it will give them some fuzziness!

Nice job!
7682  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - MAY on: May 27, 2007 09:24:41 AM
Here is my October easy square! I was going to post it before I had breakfast this morning, but I realized that I had left it in the car (craft day at a friend's house yesterday) and I was still in my PJs. I knew I had to post the pic to prove that I had actually done it!  Grin Grin Wink

I used Simply Soft Grey Heather. I had to add two extra rounds to get it to the 12" size. I've printed out the November easy square, which also uses an I hook, so I might have to find a J to make this one with.

I made the cutest little thing yesterday. I thought that it was going to be a lot bigger, but it turned out tiny- and so cute! I was crafting with friends yesterday, and even they all thought it was cute. Might have to make one for myself, too!

Today is officially designated "Owl Swap Craft Day" (in between laundry and dishes and other random housework...Clean then craft as a reward, then...repeat).
7684  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Re: Is anyone up for another color along? on: May 26, 2007 05:28:50 AM
I printed this out yesterday! I was going to attempt it in PhotoShop, but in my first attempt, it wasn't very successful. So, I've decided that I need to work on my coloring skills with colored pencil. I've never been very good at coloring  Wink so, hopefully, I can do a decent job!

I really like this image!

I'm so glad I finally got started!  Cheesy

So am I!  I don't know about the rest of you but I was getting tired of all these empty promises that you were actually going to start   Grin   Tongue   Grin

Ah, yes! I have been feeling  guilty that I've had to keep putting it off. So, I blew off working on a swap item and worked on this instead! Wink

I was going to skip around, too, but I figured that I needed to have some order to it. I have 6 rounds of the October easy square done, and I've figured out the pattern so I don't have to read it as I go (whew!). My only problem is going to be that I'll have to add on rounds to make it to the 12" size. As much as I try, I still crochet too tight! And, I couldn't find a larger hook, so I just went with it.

If I have time to crochet tomorrow night, I might get it finished. If not, then probably Saturday and I'll post a pic on Sunday.

I'm so glad I finally got started!  Cheesy

I printed out the October easy square directions and I have a question: What does it mean to dc "around" hdc? I know what dc and hdc are, I just don't get the "around" part. Does that mean don't crochet "into" it (like into the loops at the top of the hdc), but kind of "over/under" it?

Read back at the end of page 9 and beginning of page 10 - this exact question is answered there.

Oh, I'm too lazy for that! Wink Actually, I just decided to start it and I think I have it. It does make sense when I actually have the hook in hand. I just did the first 2 rounds and it looks like it might be right.

Thanks for the speedy reply!

Actually, now that I'm on here, I guess I'll go back and check... Grin

ETA: Okay, I went back and checked, and I think I'm doing it right...Thanks again Homerof2 for pointing me in the right direction! Now, I'd best get backed to it before I get distracted Wink

Hmmmm...might make more sense if I attempt it. I have a couple of swap items to work on, but maybe I'll just make one, and then I can take a crack at this.

I just popped out to the store to pick something up for the small items. And then I think one of them turned into a medium item. So, an item I thought might be medium is being "demoted" to small. And then I'm making a back-up item or two in case my large item just doesn't work out...

Off to turn some supplies into actual items!  Wink

Everyone is getting such great stuff!

coral- I love the needle roll! I looked for some neat coffee/tea fabric and couldn't find anything.

razorsharp- The items that you sent to yarn_tart are fantastic! The embroidery on the t-shirt is great, and the cookies sound yummy! And, I also like the color of the yarn- I wouldn't have thought of berries.

lapoli- I love your tea kit! What a neat idea and such a cool way to carry your tea around!

sammimag- I like your apron and I love how you instantly decided to use it to carry yarn around! And that bookmark is lovely!

And aedara, that flowering teapot and tea is amazing. My cousin's bridal shower is next month and she is a tea drinker. I might have to get one of these for her (registry list? what registry list?)...and maybe one for me...and one for my sister-in-law for Christmas...
