7651  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: A Jar of Mini Whimsies Swap (Sign-ups 3/23 to 4/02, send-outs 4/23) on: March 23, 2008 07:52:39 PM
I swear that I was going to give up swaps, honest!! And, I had looked at this and then decided that I really shouldn't. So, I logged off Craftster, shut down the computer and was getting ready for bed when I had a brain spasm...

And realized that I'm planning on putting together something for my classroom (a few of those "I Spy" bottles- the ones that you fill with sand and the kids have to find various objects hidden within by rolling or shaking the bottle) and I need a variety of random little items...so this might help me get things started! Some of the things would be used for crafting, too...

And so, obviously, I've logged back in so I can sign up!
7652  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 50+ Wash Cloths-along on: March 23, 2008 06:20:45 PM
I printed out my next 2 patterns- Falling Leaves and Pink Shells. I spent the weekend crocheting my March squares for the 2007 & 2008 12" Square CALs. Happy to say I finished them both!

I don't know if I'll have time to kill this week with dishcloths, but I'll be ready, just in case Wink There is more DNA to be discovered...

Sorcha, I love that square that you posted! Do you have a pattern link?

pjherbert, those colors are fantastic! Dazzling!

I finished  my March '07 Easy square last night and started on the March '08 square. I managed to get it almost done, except for the last round on the pattern. Once again, even though I used a K hook, I had to use 2 rounds of dc instead of one round of sc to get it to 12". I can't believe how quickly this square came together! I really had to pay attention to the counting in the beginning, but once I got going, I couldn't stop Wink

Now, to start working on my April '07 square Wink

I finished my March '07 Easy Square! I think it is my favorite so far. I really love how the blue and grey look together. And, I just realized, I am officially halfway done!!

Wow! This is amazing! I'd be daunted by cutting out the circles, never mind sewing them all on by hand. Impressive!

I received my tin today!! After my original partner flaked, Dreambelle stepped up and offered to be my angel. She chose the most difficult of my themes (molecules) and came up with such a clever idea- I love it!

Inside the tin there are a bunch of atoms and bonds that have magnets on the back so I can assemble my molecules. Due to the long journey (for some reason, the tin went from Indiana, to Arizona, then spent 2 days in New Hampshire before finally making it to Massachusetts!), some of the magnets came off, but I can glue them back on. And, I have some Perler beads around here somewhere, so I can add more pieces to the set later! I may also glue some magnets to the back so I can hang the whole kit on the fridge- I'm off to print out molecular diagrams to copy right now!!

Thanks Dreambelle for being my angel and coming up with such a clever idea. You rock!

And, thanks, kishcrafts for setting me up with such a great angel! You rock, too!

kjlutz, that's a fabulous package from Nirauan. Totally stinks that you got flaked on twice, but it's awesome that Nirauan stepped up and angeled for you! Super-fantastic organizer, super-fantastic package! i love the t-shirt!

Thanks for the added info! I can't believe you are a relative newbie to crochet- your stuff is so nice looking! I've been re-learning over the past year or so and my stuff still has "issues."

I had some time to kill after work one day (I had a meeting later that evening and it isn't worth driving 30 minutes home...only to drive back again) so I stopped at the craft store and picked up some cotton. I had found an I hook in my desk (taught a bunch of students to crochet last year) so it has become my official dishcloth hook. I keep a ball of yarn, the newest pattern, some handy paper clip stitch markers and the hook in a Ziploc bag in the car. I got out of work an hour and a half earlier than I planned today, so I crocheted in the car until my tutoree showed up. I still can't crochet while watching TV (well, maybe a granny square), so it works out well to have it in the car...

I think I grabbed every single pattern that was posted and saved them. This includes the original list and links that everyone put up. I think I even have "The Big Book of Dishcloths" around here somewhere. So, I should be able to find 50 patterns! I'm trying to pick the easy ones for now. I do learn something from each one I make, so I'll eventually work my way up to more difficult ones. Only 43 more to go Wink
