7651  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Buy Nothing Swap Gallery on: December 06, 2007 05:17:11 PM
taunya1978- That cat is so funny! I love his expression. Does he have a name, yet? Seems to me like it should start with the letter H. Wink And, that journal is very nice. What is it "glossed" with?

Yay! I just sent in my info! Can't wait!!
7654  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Stripey Zippered Moneypouch- thing. (Now with tutorial!!) on: December 06, 2007 04:50:01 PM
violet_thistle- I really like your pouches, especially the lining fabric you chose. It goes very well with the yarn.

Thanks!  It very helpful to have an over abundant quilter's stash. Smiley I've made several more since they are soooo fast and easy to whip up.  Ripping the zippers out of my son's outgrown pants and shorts take more time than making the change purses!

I do have a couple of pairs of pants that I'm probably going to take the zipper out of. Now, to find nice yarn (maybe wool so I can felt them) and inside fabric. I have a small stash, so hopefully I will only have to buy some yarn (and use a coupon for it!).

Just want to say a personal thank you to CraftADDChick for all the lovely items but more importantly the armadillo shirt...whats so funny about that Being a John  James Audubon image is athat I WORK for an Audubon Center!! (its a nature center)   IT WAS FATE!!!

Ha! That is too funny, because that is the item I wasn't sure if you'd like...
Wink

athena394- Oh my goodness! I LOVE THE HAT AND SCARF! It's things like that that totally make me wish I could knit. Like the pillow, too. It reminds me of the bands you might see when you look at light through a diffraction grating. And the stuffed space things are a cool idea!

Neato prawn and Butcher Bird cards!!! And I totally had a shirt/short set with that manatee pattern (in cotton form with some rainbows) that I wore in elementary school that my mom made me. Crazy cool that the still have it!

Did you paint on the dominoes? I want a close up of that crab-it's phenomenal, craftADDchick!

Ha! I wish I could paint like that! Sadly, I cannot...But, I can decoupage a print-out of a horseshoe crab...and, I just realized that it's actually a trilobite...

And, I do have some more of the manatee fabric (pretty funny that you had it when you were a kid!), but it's a bit too vibrant for me to wear. I'll probably make a bag or pouch with it, though!

My partner, Moonoverbrooklyn, received today but can't find her camera, so she said I could post pics of what I sent...

Two domino pendants (a horseshoe crab and a diatom) and a hedgehog cell phone charm:

Then, a crocheted "gentleman prawn" (got the pattern from a fellow Craftster):

Followed by a Nine-Banded Armadillo shirt with an Audubon illustration:

And a set of Butcherbird notecards:

And, finally, a manatee messenger bag with this very colorful manatee fabric as a lining.

I had a whole bunch of fun making these items for my partner- this swap was a blast!! Grin

And, silkymist, I love the idea of felting them. I'd love to see what those look like when they are finished!
7659  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: modern upcycled ornaments on: December 03, 2007 05:04:38 PM
I saw the originals yesterday, but I really like your recycling twist! I've bookmarked this so I can keep tabs on what you come up with for a final result. Can't wait!

ragdoll193: I love the pi wristwarmers and the tote bag with the Fibonacci spiral is awesome! I love when math and art come together! And the earrings are fabulous, too! The pendant is also neat (but it reminds me of a Secchi disc).

cumber1137- Looks like you got a neat package! Any chance of a close-up on the necklace and the fabric on the belt and headband? They all look so pretty!

the jenya- What a great package! I think the DNA choker is my favorite (must find out how to make one of those!), but the X-chromosome bobby pins are a close second! The crocheted heart is a riot, as are the birds and the bees buttons on the calorimetry. And the magic cube thingy is way coolsomewhere I have directions for how to make one using train tickets. Too bad I dont ride the train!
