7631  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Owl Swap Round 4 Gallery! on: June 21, 2007 02:09:03 PM

skamperdans- That handmade owl bead is fantastic! What did you make it out of? I love how you did his belly! And, I love the owl cards. I hope we get to see all of them!*sigh* I wish I could draw...

Thank you!  The bead is made out of super sculpey and than painted with pink & white acrylics with a couple coats of glaze.

I have a couple pic's of drawings from the preliminary sketches so here you go...and I think everyone can draw you just need to give it a try!

Thanks for the info on the bead and thanks for posting the sketches for the other cards. They look awesome as rough sketches, too!

And, my sister is an artist and she says that drawing is a skill that can be learned. I'm still on the fence about that, but then I've never taken the time to actually learn- junior high art was not my favorite class, and it kind of put me off of drawing and painting. One of these days, I'll find a kind and patient teacher to help me out!

craftADDchick- I found the image online, vector traced it in Corel Draw, changed the colors (the original was white and blue), then printed it out and used iron-on transfers. I didn't use the transfer on the bag though, I put it on white fabric, then sewed a zig-zag stich around it (I think).

Hmmm...that's too many steps for my short attention span! Wink

I could probably handle tracing it onto contact paper and making a one-time only stencil...and then hitting it with a bunch of fabric paint...
7634  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: dewy the slooooooooooow duck on: June 20, 2007 02:59:09 PM
Dewy is very cute! And, I think he looks smart! He is the duck who invented the famous system for organizing books at the library, isn't he? Maybe he just needs a pair of glasses (somehow, glasses always make cute guys {and ducks} look even cuter and smarter!).

Is there a chance that you could post a pic to show what his feet/legs look like? I'd like to branch out from rounded stump-like amigurumi feet Wink

*whispers* hot glue gun. But thats the only part that was glued, I promise.

Ha! I always forget to consider hot glue as a crafting option! Whatever works!  Wink

starlisa, you sent porfavoray a great package! The pouch is adorable and I love the Quaker Oats guy! Did you make the stencil yourself? It'd make an excellent shirt!

funthreads- What a great package! The stationery is fantastic and the apron is adorable. And, I am very jealous of your "nestlace!" and the box it came in.
7638  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Tutorial for making an apron out of dishtowels. on: June 20, 2007 01:44:07 PM
What a cute and simple apron! And, I love that it is made from cheap-o dishtowels so I can throw it in the wash when I get it all dirty!

Thanks for sharing!

7640  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Charity Blitzing 2007 - Anyone Interested? on: June 19, 2007 04:14:44 PM
Here's a photo of the Snuggles blankets that my 7th grade students and I completed. We made 18 blankets in all, and I'll be dropping them off at a local shelter this week. Most of the blankets are crocheted, but one student knitted 3 of them. It was great fun to watch the students sitting in little groups working on their crocheting and chatting away!
