Excellent fabric choice for a market bag!

One of these days I'll get pics of mine posted...

I went to my mom's today and, while seeking wool fabric, I bought a couple of things to make potential items for this swap. Problem is, they may be too hard to give up!

7633  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: knitting needle and crochet hook roll-a-long on: January 21, 2008 07:49:40 PM
That whale fabric is awesome! And, I went to Wal-mart (shudder!) today to get something I needed for a demonstration tomorrow and they didn't have it. I looked for magnetic snaps, but they didn't have those either, so I got some heavy duty snaps. Then, later I managed to get to Jo-Anns, but I forgot to get magnetic snaps (I was looking for wool and they didn't have any and I was irritated by that...).

But, now I definitely need a huge crochet hook roll. I just added 3 more hooks to my collection. I bought some wool yarn, thinking (foolishly) that I could crochet up some squares and felt them to get my wool fabric. Don't know when I expected to get that done today! I just got home about half an hour ago (10:15 pm). Silly me...

Yaaaay!  Kisses right back at the charming Al!  We all miss him.  I still get questions on how he's doing.  Did he know the Texas aliens?  I think everyone wants to know!

Hmmmm...those Texas aliens might have been looking for Al and missed MA. Must have been male aliens...they don't ask for directions, either!
7635  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ JAN on: January 21, 2008 12:08:31 PM
I love your sqaure/s Dots and craftADDchick! They're beautimous.

I bought a skein of redheart last night that's in a new color (or at least, it's one I haven't seen before) and I can't wait to crochet one up and see how it looks. Hopefully I'll have a picture to post tonight.

Thanks! I was in the store today and the temptation to buy more yarn for this was almost too much...but I did resist. I'm not going to attempt any filler squares right now. It will be enough of a challenge for me to keep up as it is!
7636  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Reading Rainbow 4 Sendouts: Feb. 19th on: January 21, 2008 07:12:50 AM

I'm reading Inkheart, by Cornelia Funke. I'm about 3/4 done with it. I had read her book The Thief Lord and enjoyed it, so I bought this one for my classroom as well. Since I've switched grade levels, I don't have a reading time in my schedule, so I never read it before I put it on the shelf (since it never made it to the class bookshelf Wink ).

Not sure what I'll be reading next, though...depends on what my partner sends me!

Funke's books are GREAT audio books!  The Dragon Thief was a riot on audio -- Brandon Frasier is the reader.  Great fun -- wonderful entertainment in the car.  Your class would like this experience if you can fit in a read aloud sometime!

I haven't read that one, yet. Not sure how I'd do with an audio book in the car...I tend to ignore the radio when I'm in the "driving zone" but if the book is good, I'm afraid I might ignore the driving!

And, as for books to movies, I almost always love the book more. There is more time for character (and plot) development. If a movie is well made, having read the book first can make the movie experience even better!

Wow! I haven't read a John Saul book in ages. I used to read his stuff all of the time, but then I think I had read everything and moved on to another author. And then he came out with more books but I never went back to them.

And, I might have to pick up I Am Legend. I wanted to see the movie but never had the chance. So, I guess I'll read it and then rent the DVD Wink
7638  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ JAN on: January 20, 2008 07:42:24 PM
It is a miracle, indeed! I finished my January square, and it is still January. And it's still the same year! Miraculous, I tell ya'!

Anyway, I just finished it- I had to use a J hook and add a row of HDC to make it 12". It has a tendency to scrunch up, so it doesn't look like it made it to 12", but when it is flattened out it does. And, on the corners, when I followed the pattern, the corner stitches didn't come out in the center stitch of the corner below, so I had to adjust it. Not sure why my count was off, but it looks okay now.

I used Caron Simply Soft Lt. Country Peach...the photo is a bit blurry and the color isn't really true, but you get the idea Wink

Can't wait! I am getting partnered in another swap tonight or tomorrow, but it is a quick one, so I'll be all set in a few days to craft for this! Fun, fun!!

hi partner!!

im really excited to craft for you! especially cos you are a kermit fan Smiley i can use my Disney connections for that!

I have a bunch of ideas for your dad, too! But, I had to laugh when you said in your questionnaire, "he doesn't act like a 45 yr old, so I forget he is that old," because he is only a few years older than me! Wink But, it sounds like we have similar tastes in frogs Grin

Nice stamp, LovetoBead! And, MunLtStmpr if you color the stamp with a marker, you could really make it stand out (but I bet you already knew that Wink ).

I can't wait for my last stamp to arrive!
