7431  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: It's a Jolly 'Oliday with Marrrry! on: April 22, 2007 10:00:07 AM
Oooh! I ike your bag! Mary Poppins was one of my favorite movies as a kid, and this is one of my favorite scenes (along with the one where they sing "I Love to Laugh").

Nicely done!
7432  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: pond friends swap? on: April 22, 2007 09:43:42 AM
Oooooh! Darn! Just when I was going to swear off swaps for a bit!

Okay, I'll do this, but I have to give myself a rule: everything I make must come from my bountiful stash! And sorry starfish13, I don't have a caddisfly larva in my stash (which is too bad, because I've seen the jewelry made from them, and I totally want one!!) Wink

Actually, the timing for this one is great! I am in a few swaps right now (okay, 5), but I''ve already sent on one, am sending on another tomorrow, and should be sending on a third (and possibly a fourth) by next Monday. So, my swap duties should be relatively light! Plus, school is starting to wind down, so late may into June is perfect!
7433  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Fat Bottom Bag CAL... anyone? on: April 22, 2007 07:52:54 AM
steen- One reason that I haven't attempted this bag is because I didn't like the handles at all. The other reason is because I wasn't sure my crochet skills could tackle it. But, I love your modification and my crochet skills are improving, so I may be attempting this in the near future. And I love your lining fabric!

the modification steen did is really easy! I did a very similar one shortly after the book first came out because I didnt have circular handles: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=85662.0

Oooh! Very nice! Now I definitely want to make one without the circular handles! Now, to find the time...
7434  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Charity Blitzing 2007 - Anyone Interested? on: April 22, 2007 07:48:56 AM
I've received a donation for the Habitat auction, and got word that another bundle of goodies will be on its way. My own creation is still in the trunk of my car waiting to be transformed. I need to do some sanding and painting, but with rain for most of my vacation, I couldn't go outside to do it. It'll be done by next weekend.

mlcrays- That hat looks very comfortable! I like the color combo too.

Nice job MoonLightBliss33!
7436  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: "___" In A Box Swap Round 3 Sign-ups 3/16 - 3/31, Send outs 4/22 on: April 21, 2007 08:44:46 PM
Whoo-hoo! I'm done! I'm just waiting for one item to finish drying so I can put it in the box. Then, like danaisradxcore, I need to find a box to put my box in.

I'm pretty proud of my box and all its stuff. All I can say is, it had better not get lost on it's journey across the ocean  Tongue  I don't know if I can do it all again!!  Cheesy

So, since I have been so focused on swaps this week, I get to spend all day Sunday correcting papers so I can have my report card grades ready by 9 am on Monday and putting away piles and piles and piles of laundry (I actually think that the clothes from the summer are at the bottom of the pile  Shocked ). But, this swap was so much fun, so that's okay!!

What cute fabric! I love the little lobsters, especially! The little striped bit makes a nice contrast, too.

I can just picture it being worn at the beach- nicely done!
7438  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Phoca Hispida Saimensi on: April 21, 2007 08:09:11 AM
Since I'm still not that great at looking at a picture and figuring out what stitch it is, by SC do you mean:
"insert hook into chain, yarn over, pull through chain, yarn over and pull through both loops on hook"
yes, that's it Smiley

(I'm finnish, but I learned to crochet by US terms)

Thanks! I'll be giving this pattern a try soon!

I always get nervous that I'm going to make something following US abbreviations when it turns out I should have been following British abbreviations...

Thanks a bunch for sharing your pattern for such a cute little guy! I think I might try to make one out of some chenille that I have (or pick up some white chenille) to make a baby seal (since they are just so cute and fuzzy).

Ooooh, I kinda forgot about the requirements. My list of items keeps growing. I have such an awesome theme to work with!! Of course, I haven't made anything yet, so if things don't go as planned (translation: things come out awful), it could be a lot shorter!

But, I finally have everything I need to make what I want, so I can finally start- once I get started on something, I like to work all the way through it before something else side-tracks me. Plus, the deadline is looming large and I work much better under pressure!  Grin

Ahh, it's driving me mad not knowing...apart from the 'B' thing, which really is no clue at all since that was half my list! Cheesy

Just the finishing touches to yours... Grin

Uh-oh! I hope I haven't built it up too much! Wink Actually, I have a couple of items that will be hard to part with (and there is one that I am especially proud of at the moment). I have 3 items in the "just about finished stage", and 3 more to attempt today- if everything comes out okay, you get it all, if not...I'll be scrambling tomorrow! Wink
