7431  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Reading Rainbow 4 Gallery on: February 14, 2008 05:15:29 PM
I got my package from mom2blu today and I couldn't be happier!

First up, the awesome bag. I wanted something that would fit a book (or two) but still have room for a small project (like a crochet amigurumi project). This bag is the prefect size for a decent hardcover, and because it is long, I can tuck a small project in the top. Plus, it has a magnetic snap closure so I don't dump my stuff everywhere, and the handle is the perfect length for shoulder slinging or hand carrying! And, the fabric is wonderful, too!!

Then, the goodies inside the bag- mom2blu really spoiled me! She gave me a copy of The Lion, The Witch & The Wardrobe, which is great, since I brought my copy into school and it disappeared. Also, the book Murder in the Place of Anubis, by Lynda S. Robinson. I know what I'll be reading over vacation! She also made me 2 fabric book covers (that nicely match the bag Wink ) and 2 bookmarks of the same fabric (which I didn't photograph...oops!). And, she also tucked in some materials for a crochet project: a booklet of crochet patterns and a ball of Sugar N' Cream yarn!

Thanks so much, mom2blu! You are an awesome swap partner!

7432  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Snail...Male... on: February 14, 2008 04:59:32 PM
Here's a cute little snail I crocheted (pattern from: http://www.pepika.com/ ). He's a cute little guy who loves all things 70s, hence his penchant for the color orange. Wink

mochaxlight- aside from the crocheting into the chain bit (like the color combo, by the way!), how hard was that square? It's one of my favorites of the "experienced" squares from last year, but I haven't made it to the "experienced" level yet Wink Once I finish the easy ones...around September Tongue
It's experienced? I found it really easy. Plus the pattern has pictures. I think the most difficult thing is getting all the rings to look right. But it was fun. Go for it!  Cheesy

Yep! I just double checked. But, now I'm thinking that I could try it sooner...but I'll need to pick up some more yarn if I'm going to be stepping into "experienced" territory Wink

Thanks for the encouragement!
7434  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Altoid Tin Theme Swap Round 10 (Signups CLOSED!, Sendouts 2/22) on: February 13, 2008 06:13:00 PM
I have added to my list of potential items to make. Because I am such a random crafter, I'll be doing little bits all through next week. I have 2 other swaps to send out next week, too (Dang it! No matter how hard I try to avoid that, it always happens Tongue ). The tin will need to be made in stages, so that's what I'll be doing in between everything else. But, it will be sent by next Friday! And, in my head, it looks awesome Wink

Dotsamantha- Nice squares! I love the blue and grey combination, too (my 07 Easy Squares are blue and grey, but different shades).

Kookaloo_Starr- You are just crankin out those February squares! And, I cant believe that you made an entire square today! I must crochet wayyyy slower than most Wink

the_trademarks- Such bold colors! If you stick with such a fantastic color scheme, that afghan is going to rock when its finished!

I'm planning on going through the gallery/idea board/and official thread and making a recommended reading list. Would anyone be interested in this?

Great idea! I wrote a few down, but more would be great!

I have a birthday party on Saturday and I need to make their gifts...I'm home with a snow day and am seriously procrastinating because I know I have to go out and shovel before I do anything else...
7438  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along on: February 13, 2008 10:22:57 AM
CraftADDchick.....is right we almost need a thread of all tutorial and info for the poppet.  QUICK reference so to speak.

I was thinking of adding a "Tips & Tricks" page to the Poppet website. I can envision much copy & paste activity happening over vacation Wink

I'm not mochaxlight, but I did do the waldo's puzzle, and it's really not hard at all.  This month's square was, IMO, more difficult.

Sorcha

Hmmmm...maybe I'll have to give it a go, then...

Thanks, Sorcha!
