I bet he'll love it! You'll have to post some action shots if you can get 'em!
Yeah, the things I could do with decent yarn!

And, I didn't mean to imply that you flounder wasn't a proper color! They come in a wide variety of colors. I love the one you made! I just get carried away sometimes Tongue Hope I didn't offend you!
7382  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Free Form CAL - All instructions now on Pg1 on: June 03, 2008 06:21:49 PM
I just came across this today. And, I think I might have to join in. At first, I was wondering how free-form could have "directions," but then I realized that it was just the crutch I needed to break away from nice and orderly crochet. So, once school ends in 2 weeks!!!!, I'll be able to get started. Fortunately, I found it early enough that I won't be too far behind Wink

Plus, each days directions take maybe 5 minutes at the most, if you have your stash at hand and know the stitch.

I have a bunch of yarn that was donated to my classroom when I was teaching my 7th grade homeroom how to crochet. I took it home last summer and it has just been taking up space. I think it'll be the perfect stash for this project. And, it's good to know that it's such a quick job! I might even be able to get started this weekend!

I love ana paula rimoli's patterns! They are so easy to follow and just plain adorable! I have a bunch that I've bought from her Etsy, and I have her book, too. So, I'll be joining in soon...

And, I also have Creepy Cute Crochet, so I'm off to book mark those posts, too! Thanks for the links amber555!

This is so adorable! And thanks for the hints about how you made it! It'd make a way cute potholder too!

I worked in a seafood restaurant/fish market for 8 years and have a fondness for all things oceanic. So, I may have to make a couple of these...I might try looking for some variegated yarn in a proper flounder-y color to try to mimic their speckled effect...but then I'd have to go all scientific and make the bottom white...which could be a pain...unless I stitched front and back (or top/bottom) as 2 separate pieces...hmmmm...
7386  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: A Jar of Mini Whimsies Swap Gallery on: June 03, 2008 05:28:21 PM
Excellent jar- the octopus is such a cute and clever way to top off the jar!

And, such cool things inside...

This was so much fun, I'm sorry to see it ending!

Yay! I sent today!! And it's a miracle that I did...it is/will be an insane week so I had to hit the PO before 8 am to get it out on time Wink

we have 3 people sending outs already! holy cow! I STILL don't have a beginning, everything I have come up with comes out less than perfect. I think I need to put less detail into my piece.

And, ZK...maybe you should wait to see what I sent you before you go made making something perfect Wink I made a big goof on mine and it had an impact on the final outcome...I'll let you decide if it's a negative impact... Wink

I truly want to say in my best Pee-Wee Herman voice, "I meant to do that!" And, then claim that it added to the overall effect of the final piece...or pieces...
7388  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ JUNE on: June 03, 2008 05:19:15 PM
Mienna, I like your May square- lovely colors!

And, jennbrad, I like how your square came out! The yarn added a neat pattern to the square!
7389  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - SEPTEMBER (final month) on: June 03, 2008 05:16:18 PM
LOL! Because it might take me another year to finish it Wink

I didn't want to annoy folks by having it pop up every now and then...

But, it will be weird to be finished with the easy ones and only have 1 to work on every month. So, maybe I will start the experienced ones. But, I'll have to add a third color to the light blue and grey. Any suggestions? I'd like to keep it on the masculine side...maybe dark navy? Maybe if I use it as an accent color only...when I can't get away with 2 colors...like the leaf quilt one, and the one with the interlocking rings...hmmmm...

And, thank you for your continuing encouragement Wink

Okay, folks! I think I finally fixed the broken image (Thanks TheSapphireMoon for posting the image from my server!). I still don't know why it went missing...hopefully it doesn't repeat the problem!

And, thanks folks for all of the great comments on the bag. I made it for one of the handbag challenges and came up with the design. I posted a tutorial for it back in the original post for the bag. I made a lunch-bag sized one for the tutorial (that's the blue one that TheSapphireMoon had posted earlier).

And, as for the girl's dress vs the bag vs the beanie...

I do have a friend with a little girl, so I have someone. I usually only wear warm hats when shoveling snow or freezing my tail off during bus duty in early February. And, I love bags! Even though I can make them, and have a large pile of free ones I've accumulated, I can never resist them, especially when they are well made.

So, my opinion doesn't really help. But basically, The way I see it, I can always use whatever I receive as a gift if I don't need it for myself.
