7091  BATH AND BEAUTY / Bath and Beauty: Completed Projects / Re: lipbalm/lipstick cozy w/tutorial (v. image heavy) on: December 22, 2007 04:35:23 PM
I finally had a chance to make one of these! I ran into a couple of problems (no fault of the tutorial, though!). My D-ring was too small, so I made a separate tab to put it through. And, I couldn't find decent snaps and my Velcro seems to have vanished, so I had to use sew-on snaps (which I hate). I also forgot to change out the thread so I stitched it all in white, but the 7-year old recipient didn't seem to notice. Other than that, it came out great! Thanks for such a great tutorial, vegbee!

7092  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: (Now with tutorial!) - SODA/BEER cans - Almost Unlimited Uses! Charms (5 Pic on: December 22, 2007 11:49:23 AM
I just bought a dog tag set on eBay and it is the same size as my regular red Sizzix dies. So, it should fit just fine!

ETA: Oh, and maybe the reason for the confusing information is because Provo Craft used to make and sell all of the dies for the Sizzix, but now Ellison is doing it. I found out when I asked my local AC Moore manager why only some of the Sizzix dies were on sale and it was because they were clearing out the Provo Craft ones. Don't know if that clears things up any Wink
7093  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Handmade Rubber Stamps (sign ups Dec 5-Dec 27, Sendouts Jan18) on: December 22, 2007 11:45:53 AM
Hooray! Only 6 more days until we get our partners...I hope Wink

tipassoiLove the clock! I'm finishing up a math course with an MIT professor and I'd love to make one for him. But, he'd probably make me explain all of the math and I definitely couldn't do that Wink  The resistor jewelery set is fantastic, as is the hat! And, LizzieMcGuire, where did you get the small image of the old Pop Sci mag?

7095  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along on: December 20, 2007 08:25:20 PM
Thanks! I found the flyer...instead of making tea...and saw that Butterick patterns are on sale for 99 cents. I've been waiting to get an apron pattern. So much for a semi-quick dash in for Poppet fabric. This could be a dangerous stop! Hmmmm...I do need fabric for my Poppet's dress...and yarn for her hair...

Having worked in a seafood market that sold about $18,000 in shrimp platters on Christmas Eve (I smelled like cooked shrimp for days), I know the hassles of retail...especially around the holidays! So, when I stop at Joann's on the way to a Christmas party tomorrow, I'll be especially nice to the sales clerks Wink

I am definitely getting more colors of the Alova suede if I can find it. And, animal eyes, too! Seems like everyone who used to carry them has stopped. I'll have to place a huge order online after the holidays...

And, thanks for the tip about the coupon commotion! Now I need to find my sales flyer!

But really, I need to get to bed...I just finished making and wrapping gifts for the party tomorrow...and I'm a bit wound up...maybe I should make some tea...
7097  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Ribbon Spool Organizers of awesomeness... on: December 19, 2007 04:27:20 PM
This is such a neat (in more ways than one) idea! My ribbon is all tossed into a box, and I can never find it when I want it. I love how the ribbon is visible and accessible. Thanks so much for sharing!

whenfishfly- I can't decide which I like more...the DNA bag, the cell phone case or the paperback book pouch! I love the DNA image on the bag, the cool fabrics on the cell phone case and the spectrum patterns on the book pouch (plus I just love the idea of a book pouch). The pipette earrings are a riot! If I worked in a lab, I'd have a pair to match every outfit I owned Wink

That is such a tragedy about leopard poppet!! Who would steal a child's doll (no matter how cool it is!)?

And, I love the lizard poppet! The fabric is perfect!!

And, because of all of the scolding ( Wink ), I'm calling the sewing machine place in a few minutes...

I did pick up some ball point needles today, though!

My machine's tension has been acting up lately (just in time for sewing presents Tongue ), so I may take it in for servicing. It definitely needs it. I've never had it checked and I've had it for at least 10 years (but probably more). It needs a good cleaning and a tune-up. If they can tackle it quickly, I'll try to bring it in next week so I can have it back with time to sew!
