7091  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: "___" In A Box Swap Round 3 Gallery on: April 28, 2007 07:19:57 PM
Yes, she does! And now I have tremendous feelings of swap inadequacy...

linzo- You got some neat stuff! I like the altoid tin and the little journal (looks like cool paper on the cover). And, the zines seem like a pretty fun thing (can you give us a peek inside?).

And, militant pacifist- What a great box you got- love the shirt! Knitting for morons is right up my alley- I tried it and was just not good at it (so I re-learned crochet, instead Wink ).
7093  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Has anyone used these tools? on: April 28, 2007 01:34:10 PM
Would those pencil grips that kids use on their pencils help? They come in foam and rubber. I don't know if they'd be too big for smaller hooks, but they might work on the larger sizes.
7094  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: I <3 Tea/Coffee/Cocoa Swap Round 4 [SIGN-UPS CLOSED; SEND BY 05/18] on: April 28, 2007 01:32:00 PM
My sister and I did a week without caffeine stint a while back to prove that we weren't addicted to tea. All I can say is, I was so glad when that was over and the test was inconclusive as I fell ill that week  Roll Eyes

I was that sister and I also fell ill. Moral of the story; Not drinking tea is bad for you Wink

(Actually I survived on boiling Evian water my DB popped out in the middle of the night to buy from the local garage, but it was a close call)

Maybe you were both sick from caffeine withdrawal Wink
7095  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Charity Blitzing 2007 - Anyone Interested? on: April 28, 2007 01:18:22 PM
I've needed to post pics of the donations that I have received so far for the Charity Blitz 2007 April Charity- Habitat for Humanity. These items were donated for the Greater Worcester (MA) Habitat for Humanity's charity auction, which is in May. Check out http://www.thinkscience.org/CraftsterPics/habitatauction.html for more info on the auction.

The first items I received were a set of pen and ink drawings, with a couple of pencil sketches, too, from an anonymous Craftster. They are lovely! The photos don't do them justice!

Next up are several crocheted items donated by EowynUlysses. The stuffed cupcake plushie is big (pencil in pic for scale) and would make a great pillow! The shawl is a nice navy color and has a pretty shawl pin with it. The "I <3 the environment" hat is just adorable, as is the striped hat of many colors. The beret is made from recycled linen and cotton yarn.

Thank you so much for your generosity!

And, it's not too late to donate an item, if you're interested! I am headed outside to take the sander to an old night stand to transform inot something more interesting looking (I hope Wink ).
7096  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 12" Crochet Square of the Month Craftalong - APRIL on: April 28, 2007 12:22:42 PM
I want to participate too! I just haven't had a chance to start yet. I'm hoping that, this summer, I can get caught up and stay caught up for the rest of the year. I've been following along, and will be starting in about a month, I hope!
7097  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: "___" In A Box Swap Round 3 Gallery on: April 28, 2007 12:06:44 PM
My box from Phizzychick arrived today, which was super fast considering it came across the pond!

First of all, receiving a package labeled Royal Mail made me feel like a princess. Or in this casea FROG princess!

And, I was unbelievably spoiled! The first clue was the weight of the box (no wonder it cost so much to ship!).

Now, I took a ton of pics (about 30), but since I cant post them all here, I created a web page that has close-up views of most of the stuff. So click HERE if you want to get a better look at anything! The attention to detail that Phizzychick has makes it worth a closer look!

First upthe boxwith very clever label

Great card (elm tree on front is made with wood from a real elm tree), with cute envelope

Now on to the actual goodies!

It started with a dish towel with a hand-embroidered frog on it (I love how subtle the frog is, but it doesnt photograph well) and some awesome tags!

Next up, a bunch of hand made frog and frog-colored jewelry. There was a LOL-funny jar labeled Frog Legs (the lid said Yum) and it contained 4 pairs of earrings- one set of frog legs made from clay, and 3 beaded sets, including one with felt frog feet. There is an awesome coil bracelet that had a felted bead on it and a pair of earrings with crocheted beads. There is a whole set of beads that look like frog skin (green with spots). And, a frog pendant made of clay that has moveable parts! Did I mention that I was spoiled in this swap?

Then, there is a hand sewn frog sachet, a knitted wrist cuff (in Kermit the Frog green), a snap on plastic bracelet/cuff with red poison arrow frogs, a clip with an awesome Girl Guides patch on it (it has a frog on it of course and it will soon be hanging on my backpack!), an adorable bookmark with a clay frog and a tag that says KREADIT on it, and a fabulous silver-and-jewels frog pin. Can you see why I feel like a princess?

Next, an amazing wood plaque with a frog collage on it! Its gorgeous and I am trying to decide where the perfect spot for it is. Definitely someplace where folks can see it!

Then, there was a frog bean bag and a frog stuffie clip, and some adorable frog stickers.

Also, fridge magnets that spell out FROG, a felt frog clip, a little pom-pom frog, a bobble-head frog, some fun erasers (a frog, a robot dog and a shark in an inner tube), and a little book filled with things that are green.

And finally, a bunch of chocolates, including some Kinder Surprise eggs (there were 4, but one was a bit smashed, so I just had to eat it right away).

THANK YOU! THANK YOU! THANK YOU, Phizzychick! You were a fabulous, awesome, amazing swap partner!!

And, I apologize to everyone for posting so many pictures, but as you can see, there was so much to show off!!
7098  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: You not going to believe this! *TUTORIAL ADDED* on: April 28, 2007 06:31:29 AM
Would it work in a laser printer, too? It figures that, after I get frustrated with inkjets and buy a laser printer, I'd start seeing all of these cool projects that must be done in an inkjet. I'd love to try this, so hopefully, someone knows if it works!
7099  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: school supplies swap! on: April 28, 2007 06:26:37 AM
I'm working on several swaps right now (1 sent/waiting for it to arrive, 3 to send with 2 sending this week), so I can't jump into this one at the moment. But I do want in on it!
7100  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Sunhat Swap CLOSED (send by May 1, 2007) on: April 27, 2007 01:43:45 PM
Heavens to Betsy, CraftADDchick!  You simply CAN"T be going out hunting slime molds without a rockin' hat!  you jus't CAN'T.  I guess you'll have to, though.

I must confess, I spent last night working on a sweater for my chickie-poo...  Embarrassed

must.... complete.... the.... hat...!!!

We didn't find any slime molds, and then it rained today, and is supposed to rain into next week. So, maybe when the sun comes back out we'll try again.

And don't worry, you still have time before the send by date! You'll get it finished! Wink
