7031  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: the amelia bag **** NOW WITH TUTORIAL**** on: September 05, 2007 03:40:42 PM
Yay! Thank you so much for posting the tutorial. I've got it bookmarked, and I'll be checking it out fairly soon. I'll post a pic when I make one! Thanks again!

This made me chuckle! Love the mouth and tongue and the multiple eyes. I think I'm adding this to my long list of things to make!

Oooh! What a great package! I like the purse, especially! And, a big kiss to your angel, superhooker!
7034  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Christmas Ornament swap (CLOSED; MAIL BY 9/13) on: September 05, 2007 03:27:02 PM
After I get myself caught up on reading Craftster, I am working on finishing my ornaments. I should be able to finish them tonight and get them in the mail either tomorrow or Friday. It has been a busy week!

I could actually make this my first swap if I really wanted... The only thing that's worrying is that I've never meltcrafted anything bigger than a coaster...

Well... I've got plenty of time to think about it.

I've never melted anything either besides shrink plastic. But, it sounds like fun!

I want to do this. But I don't know what all I can do. :[

Did you peruse the list of links on the first page? There are some things you can melt besides beads.

but my mom smelled the cds she told me id be grounded for a year if i did it again w/o permition

Ooops! I guess if I was melting in my mom's oven, she'd pretty much pitch a fit, too!

i want to try melting stuff in my toaster oven/ oven,  ive got permition!!, but the one consern my parents had is that it would make the oven smell like melting plastic every time they use it.
Has anyone had this problom?

Glad you have permission now! I don't know if it would make the oven smell, though. I know when I do polymer clay, I cover it with foil to "contain" the fumes and then open it up the foil outside. I don't know if it's the best idea for the clay, but it makes the house and oven less stinky. Maybe someone with more melting experience can answer this better...

And Kimi is on her way! I'll miss her! As I was driving her to the post office today I was thinking of all of the other places that we could have visited and pictures that I could have taken.

I'm anxiously awaiting the arrival of Al. I didn't realize how much I would miss him! Since he first landed/crashed, he has spent much of his time watching TV and surfing the net, so I know he was glad of the chance to get out and about in the world. I'm sure that now that he has had a taste of adventure, he'll want to get out more often! Of course, I'll have to keep him safe from the paparazzi Wink

I printed out the last of my pics today at CVS, instead of waiting for the good photoshop tomorrow. I've got 21 pages, I think. And, I hope I didn't ruin it, but I decided to hand write out the text. I know that I would have driven myself crazy trying to get the right fonts and sizes and shape of the text boxes. I just have to do the cover, and the scrapbook is done. Tomorrow night, I'll be finishing up the rest of the stuff I'm sending (a couple of clothing items for Miss Kimi DareBear), and I have to make sure that her passport is filled out!

Oh, I'm with you on the handwriting the text. I think it looks like it has more personality that way!  Cheesy And that's really a part of this too!

I figured it'd be okay. Most of the magazines I read that mention scrapbooking say that it's like putting a little of yourself into the book when you add your own handwriting. I just wish that little bit of myself was a little bit neater Wink

I love the shape of this bag! And the color of the yarn is fabulous! The flower is a great touch, and the handles look great. It looks fairly simple, so I, too, would love a tutorial. Thank you for offering!

I'm taking another break...the ADD is in my username for a reason Wink

I have all of my pics sorted and all of the ephemera sorted and cut out. I realized that I forgot to print a few pics, so I need to leave space for them and get them done on Tuesday afternoon. Then, I'll just need to stick those in.

The part that will actually take me the longest is the journaling/text part...I have to type it all, since my handwriting is atrocious!

ETA: It's 3 hours later and I have 12 pages all laid out. I just have to write out the text/journaling and those pages will be done. I figure that I have about 8 or 9 more pages to do...

Another ETA: It's another hour later and I did four more pages...almost. One of the pages is the one that needs the rest of the pics I need to print. I counted and I have 5 more pages to go. So, since I seem to be averaging 4 pages an hour, I should have about 1.25 hours of layouts to do, and then at least an hour for the text/journaling. Then, I just need to finish up a few souvenirs for Kimi and I'm done!!

And, I know you don't need a blow by blow report, but it is helping me to stay on task...ADD, remember? Wink
