7031  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: Flower Power bag on: May 19, 2007 07:11:29 PM
What a neat design! How does it hang when you carry it? Is that a Velcro closure just visible in the pic? I like the flower fabric! Puts me in a tropical mood!

The funny thing about the ram stencil is that when I first looked at it, I was having trouble seeing the ram! I could tell that there was a horn, but I was looking at it at the wrong angle. I turned it and the ram just popped into focus!

And, last Sunday, my mom, sis and I did a bit of thrift shopping. I found this oddly cool ram bookshelf (at least I think it was a ram and not a goat). But I didn't buy it...After I opened my package from platinumrexx, I called up my mom and asked her to go back and get it for me. I just realized that I should ask her to take a picture of it so I can post it, but I'll have to wait until she gets back from her trip later in the week.
7033  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Froggy on: May 19, 2007 04:05:22 PM
Frog and son- both adorable! And of course, since your son loves frogs, he is a very cool 1 1/2 year old!

Love it!
7034  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: folding totebag that folds into it's own pouch! on: May 19, 2007 01:17:00 PM
No unfortunately I didn't have a reversible  zipper. I tried to figure out how I could make it so the pocket/pouch could  be zipped closed when it was inside out and it  just can't be done without a reversible zipper. Maybe I  will  get some reversible zippers if I make some more of these to sell. Do they make them in small sizes or all they all those bulky jacket sizes? Because I only need a 5 inch zipper and I'd hate tohave to  buy a 20-inch one and cut off most of it!

I just found some information about reversible zippers here:

It seems like you just need a reversible zipper pull. If that's too much of a pain, maybe you could use a Velcro closure (high on the "ick factor" in my book) or snaps or a button. But a zipper would be the best...
7035  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Switch plate delight on: May 19, 2007 09:37:09 AM
I love these! I am in the very slow and agonizing process of working on my house. All of the switchplates have been removed for 5 years (I told you it was slow  Wink ). When I finally get a room finished, I think I'm going to try to put up a switch plate that has fabric that matches the room and if possible, the theme- crafty fabric for the craft room, book fabric for the library/guest room, etc.

Thanks for sharing!
7036  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: DIY Kit Round 9? on: May 19, 2007 09:16:55 AM

Here are some kits I can offer:
1. Beginning crochet
2. Paper quilling kit (1)
3. Treasure chain jewelry kit (1)
4. Wineglass charm kit
5. Sock bird and fish kit
6. Small journal with clay cover kit
7. Hemp jewelry kit (1)
8. Boondoggle/Gimp/Scoobidoo kit (1)

Most of these kits would be made with supplies from my stash (with a couple of exceptions- for the jewelry kits, I'd try to customize the colors), so for some of them, I only have enough for one of each kit. I marked which kits I'd only be able to make one of.

Kits I'd like to receive
1. Card weaving kit
2. Felted bead kit
3. Yarn dyeing kit
4. Microscope slide pendant kit
5. Embroidered tea towel kit
6. Melted bead bowl kit
7. Book purse kit
8. Resin pendant kit

Now I can't wait for sign-ups to start!
7037  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Mother's Day / Re: Looks can be deceiving - my gift to my mum on: May 19, 2007 08:34:47 AM
This is so cute and clever! I wish I had someone to make it for! My family isn't loaded with tea drinkers, unfortunately.  But, I do have a friend who is a huge purse-aholic (but not a tea drinker)- would you be insulted if I used your idea but converted it into a toilet tissue cozy for her bathroom?  Cheesy

I love this idea and I'm so totally stealing it  Cheesy

Did you use a reversible zipper (I don't know if that's what it's really called, but it's the kind that you can zip from front and back)? Because if the pouch could be zipped closed when it is inside the bag, that would be doubly awesome!

And, I have a Le Sportsac bag that is made with ripstop nylon (it has a little pouch, too, but sadly, it isn't attached), and it is pretty strong! I've traveled with it and carried back my (heavy) souvenirs in it!
7039  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: I <3 Tea/Coffee/Cocoa Swap Round 4 [SIGN-UPS CLOSED; SEND BY 05/18] on: May 19, 2007 07:54:25 AM
Hey guys, thanks everyone in group A who has contacted me so far, I'm still missing communication for a couple of you, please let me know if you've already sent or if you're sending late. Thanks!
I just sent a PM with my DC#. I sent it Priority (ouch!) since my partner is leaving on a trip and I'm hoping she'll have it before she goes- I don't want it to be left sitting out in the rain (and I think she lives in the rainy part of her state!).

My trip to the post office reminded me that I really should replace my scales.  Roll Eyes
I daren't even mention what I spent on postage...Hopefully I should have more time to price up alternatives next swap  Cheesy
And, at the post office, they have this printed sheet on the counter that I think they use to measure the packages to help them calculate shipping (someone said that it is based on size/handling ease and not just weight). If I hadn't been at the counter of the perpetually grouchy clerk, I would have asked a bit more about it. I may hop on over to the USPS site to see if they have one that can be printed out...not that I know what it's called...
7040  CRAFTING FOR GOOD AND NOT EVIL / Crafty Charitable/Social Causes / Re: Charity Blitzing 2007 - Anyone Interested? on: May 18, 2007 06:51:26 PM
Well, I didn't manage to get the nightstand finished in time for the auction. So, at the last minute, I finished up a Jordy bag and donated that instead. No pics because it really was at the last minute. I finished stitching it up, hopped in the car with the donated items and made it to the Habitat office right at 5 pm on Monday. Unfortunately, I didn't get to go to the auction (I had a stack of papers to grade and progress reports to finish), so I don't know how it went.

And, on another note, my students and I have completed 14 Snuggles blankets (with a few more pretty close to being finished). School gets out in a month, so we'll be delivering them in the next couple of weeks, I think (a little photo-op and some positive publicity for the school, too!).

Now, I guess I need to check out the current charity and see what I can work up. I've fallen a bit behind. I stilll have my Afghans for Angels to work on- I have everything I need, I just need to start it.
