Ms Marple I love the look of your apple tree stamp! It looks like a woodcut (which I love). Lovely!

I love the shape of the shell! I've seen similar ones in knitting, but I've never seen directions for a crocheted one.

The free loop is the loop left over from when you only crochet into the back loop on the row below. You should be able to turn the work over and see this loop left there.
The row below meaning the one you just worked and are now done with and you have started a new row.

Thank you for explaining this part...you just made things so much clearer!

Like sc sc bl f all on different rows would equal one square of a chart that you want?? (I hope this makes sense).. Thanks. Smiley

Thats the basic formula for the image to appear and then the back ground formula is bl, f, sc sc
Sometimes it just takes playing with the graph to get the understanding. I would try this small one out as it can be crocheted pretty fast and then once you do venture into your own graph just keep trying it a row at a time and looking, if it looks like its becoming too elongated just delete a row or so.

Whoo-hoo! The secret formula! I am trying this as soon as I get some swaps knocked out of the way. Thanks again!

Sarcastra, that is a fantastic looking flower. I seriously covet it Wink It looks like it is walking...did you ever read Day of the Triffids? This flower would make a good Triffid (even though Triffids are bad Wink )!

Wow! I've been super busy lately and haven't had time to peruse this thread like I've wanted. I had 20 pages to catch up on! Love all of the new Poppets and I love some of the ideas for future Poppets (Elvis! Scottish Poppet! Beautiful mermaid!).

I FINALLY have my sewing machine back, and will be crafting like a crazy woman this weekend. I have swaps to finish and a Poppet to make!! And, I'll be adding new stuff to the Poppet website (pics, links), too. I was thinking of adding a "Tips & Tricks" page (such as eyelash tips...ghille, I laughed pretty hard at your tale), but that will require that I re-read all of the pages in this thread. So, I'll have to wait until February vacation when I have more time. And, someone mentioned that it would be cool if I linked each Poppet to their own thread. I can do that for the Poppets that have their own thread, but I don't know how to do that for Poppets that are posted in this thread. How do I link to a specific reply?

Anyway, I have to finish getting supplies ready for making weather instruments tomorrow. And then I need to head to bed.

Excellent work on all of the new Poppets!

Wow! mamaedgar, those stamps are totally wonderful! I can't decide which one I like the best (leaning towards the swirly one...I love swirls). The third one reminds me of a slide of bacteria (science geek that I am) and I love the Hepburn one. I, too, am in awe...
7017  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Tatted bookmark on: January 23, 2008 04:32:44 PM
This is beautiful! It really makes me want to learn tatting. I'll have to poke around on the links that you provided so I can see what it is all about.

Thanks for sharing!

laminathegreat- The umbrella you made for Sarcastra is fantastic!
Te hee, THANKS! I almost didn't recognise it sitting there, looking so good! It originally was going to be a solid umbrella but when I started to draw it I drew the ribs and it looked so good I just stopped! Seriously, I think I'm gonna make myself one too. Because THINK of the potentials!

I'm thinkin', I'm thinkin'!

And, it was mentioned that we should post pics of things that we make with our stamps. I already have an idea or two brewin' for the first one I received!
