7011  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: 2008 12" Squares ~ FEB on: February 03, 2008 10:11:30 AM
could anyone please tell me how much each square takes of a skein? i hope to buy all of my skeins at once so i get the same dye lot. thanx!

I am using Caron Simply Soft and I can get probably get three squares out of each skein.

Welcome Samsara!!! Smiley

I won't even be able to get 2 out of a skein of Simply Soft. I always have to add rows, even if I use a larger hook!

Congrats on being a featured project Malibukasey!

And, funkysockmonkey- that is just a riot about your Poppet's nose! I wonder if I could make a lightning bug Poppet? A little glow in the dark clay in the butt, a pair of wings and there you have it Wink

love to bead, glad you're back! And, I really like the dragonfly that something_weird sent to you. Out of all of the insect stamps I have, I probably have more dragonflies than anything else!
7014  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Reading Rainbow 4 Sendouts: Feb. 19th on: February 02, 2008 07:46:36 PM
I have just about all of the fabric cut out. I'm not sure if I need to line 1 part of the bag, so I have to sleep on it (and see if I have suitable fabric Wink ). I have one other part to get ready for the bag, which I came downstairs to do, but then I realized that I had left the computer on and I got distracted Grin

I haven't started the bookmark, yet, but I think I know what I'm going to do. I picked up a flat rate box at the Post Office this morning. I hope that everything will fit! So, if all goes well, I should be able to mail on Monday (if I get up a little early so I can hit the PO before work). If not, then definitely on Tuesday! Of course, if the bag doesn't come out the way it is supposed to, then it is back to the drawing board (and I'll be totally bummed!)...

I need to finish before the Super Bowl, so the pressure will be on!

You might want to trace the bum section a little higher up on the front section- add a bum onto the abdomen of the front Wink I don't have the pattern in front of me, but that might work...

D'oh! Why didn't I ever think of this? Every day I tote my utensils in a plastic baggie, which ends up getting tossed, and it grates on my nerves every time Tongue

I am absolutely making myself several of these! I'll make one for every day of the week Wink And, I'll steal your idea for matching napkins, too!

Thanks for sharing such a great idea!

Congrats on your opening balkandina! And way to go on selling 2 pieces!! You must be flying high right now!

Hmmm...never thought about stamping in gesso before. I might have some hanging around here somewhere...

And, I can't wait to see my stamps from you!

I will be making one as soon as I can get myself caught up on a few things. It's too cute!!

Wow! Skip this post for a few days and look at what I've missed!

First, congrats on the pregnancy, craftewoman! You are good at making more than Poppets, aren't you Wink

And, the new Poppets are all fantastic! I love the Flamenco dancer (no wonder you were going insane on the ruffles...but it totally makes the dress!!). And, the Jojo the Punk Rocker...the outfit is amazing and the fabric you used is perfect!!! The Belly Dancer is just so perfectly adorable. Her outfit is excellent, right down to her anklet!

I am in the middle of 3 swaps right now, which will finish up around February vacation, so barring a total power failure, my Poppet will get made!! I'm so inspired by all of the amazing creativity I see here!!

Thanks, yellowduckie, for the pattern modifications! If I hate the way it's originally written, I'll give your way a go.

And, thanks, jennbrad52, for the added info. I might try it with a basic granny square to see how I like it Wink
