Oh my goodness! Such adorable dolls! I like the different clay faces on the new ones and the different charms and such on the "danglies." I had considered making some out of shrink plastic, but then didn't. I might have to explore the possibility for the next batch. The piggie face and the server are a hoot! I need to use felt more...so versatile!

Those are way cute! And, much better than a business card that would most likely get tossed. How many "pages" did you put in each one?

I'm in charge of our recycling program at school and these would make neat prizes for the kids in the homerooms that recycle the most. I can make the pages out of recycled paper. And, by printing the covers out on cardstock (green, of course), I can put some recycling facts and stuff on them.

You know, I've seen these before, but I never thought of printing stuff on them with the computer. It opens up a whole bunch of new possibilities! Thanks so much for sharing your version of this idea!

Thanks for the link! Turns out I already had it, but I hadn't added it to my "Plan to Make" list. It's on there now! I don't know how I missed it before!

And, I can see why you like the star ones- they stitch up quick! And the pattern is easy to follow, too.

I was actually surprised to receive today! I have been so fixated on getting swaps in the mail that i kind of forgot that I'd be getting something in return!

Yeah... I blame it on my sister. I had an explanation all planned out- something along the lines of, "We wouldn't be as successful as we are today if you hadn't done such a good job taking care of things for us!" My sister was much more blunt in her explanation Wink  My mom really did take it well, and we wore them all day!

I agree! The patterning on that last one came out great! Not DNA, so we'll just have to say it's the X-chromosome Wink

What pattern did you use on that one?

Is it even prettier in real life?

It's very pretty! Some of the fabrics don't show up well in the photos, and I don't have a spot to lay it out fully, but it really is lovely!
6988  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Jute Twine Trivet on: August 18, 2008 03:34:24 PM
So, my mom's birthday was Friday, and somehow, I didn't remember in time to pick up a gift certificate to her favorite store. And, since I was leaving early to head to her house, the store wasn't open for me to get one. So, around midnight, I decided that I would attempt to crochet her a trivet/hotpad using jute twine. Because time was short, and I was tired, I decided to stick with the basic granny square. It was a little bit rough on the fingers (so I may wear a band-aid or two the next time), but it came together quickly and the jute was easier to crochet with than I expected. I used a K hook and about 3/4 of the ball of twine (purchased at Home Depot...I bought the heavy duty twine).

I may make a circular one next to make it a little more rigid.

So, my siblings and I were heading to my mom's on Friday for her birthday. My sister thought it would be funny if we all wore shirts that said "Let Go, Let Mum" because my mom is such a take charge kind of gal...

So, after a bit of discussion about whether she'd be insulted, we decided to go ahead with it and the task to actually make them landed in my lap! I made them on Thursday and we wore them on Friday. My mom took it like a good sport! And, as she acted as a backseat driver later that day, a whispered, "Let Go, Let Mum" could be heard echoing through the car...

I didn't have any mail earlier, which is unusual because I almost always have mail, and it almost always gets delivered by noon. For some reason, I checked again and...feast your eyes on this beauty made by BertaBerta!

I think I'll call her Pumpkin Wink

I love, love, love the wire face. And, it's hard to see in the picture, but it has little beads for eyes threaded onto the wire. Fantastic!

Thanks BertaBerta! I'm so very glad she wasn't lost on the Mass Turnpike!
