Oooooh! A lumberjack poppet Wink

I never thought of using thick yarn! That would make it less fussy for me to try out so I could learn. Hmmmm...there is some yarn on sale this week at AC Moore. I'll have to see if any of it is the thick kind.

Thanks for the tip!

Ooooh...I just remembered! I have an obnoxiously bright green skein or two of Thick and Quick. Maybe I can try something with that. Now, to come up with a chart...maybe of a frog...
6903  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Amazing what potholders and dishtowels can turn into on: December 30, 2007 09:19:28 AM
What a neat idea! I'd love to know how you assembled everything (especially the ones made from the potholders). I love how the fabrics on the wallet and coin purse are pre-color-coordinated! And, having the bindings on the edges pre-sewn is another plus! I hate sewing on bindings.

Thanks so much for sharing! I might have to hit the dollar store to see what I can find to cut up and play with Wink

I love this! I really want to try filet crochet, but I haven't gotten up the nerve, yet. It sounds easy, but it looks complicated  Tongue

Congrats on making such an awesome project, without a pattern, even! I'm impressed!

I, too, would like to get clothes for a Poppet. And, I'd be willing to make a Poppet in exchange. I also have plenty of Poppet fabric that I could exchange, but not much else in the way of supplies.

And now I'm crying because I don't have my sewing machine right now Wink

Misery by Stephen King. For some strange reason, this is one of my favorite books! On several occasions, I've picked it up, opened it to the middle and read to the end and then gone back to the beginning and read it through to the end again. I can't explain it...

So, I was sorely disappointed in the movie. I can remember sitting in the theatre (probably even the exact seat I sat in) and these two old ladies behind me were saying how wonderful and fantastic the movie was, and all I could say was, "But the book was so much better!"

And, ollieorange, I've never read The Fountainhead but a girl I used to work with LOVED it! It just seemed like something that I wouldn't like (Hmmmm...that could be a book that could answer the question from earlier...unless I don't like it after I read it Wink ). And, I always worry that I'll hurt someone's feelings when they recommend a book and I don't love it as much as they do. That happened with Beloved by Toni Morrison. A guy gave it to me for Christmas in our work swap and said it was his favorite book. I put off reading it for a long time (even though he always asked me about it) and when I finally read it, it just didn't thrill me.

I was thinking of making a poppet out of terry cloth. I can get towels cheap at the thrift store, and it seems like it would be a good furry kind of a feel. Perhaps a sheep, since that hasn't been done yet. As soon as I get over the flu!

I have some fake "shearling" in the car that is waiting to be made into something and I was thinking of a sheep poppet! But, do you think the poufiness of the "shearling" would be too hard to work with? I was thinking of a smooth black fabric for the face and inside ears...

Also...if you are interested in another partner (for one stamp swap), I don't have enough partners for myself Undecided

I was going to volunteer to send you one, but I see that we are already partners! Maybe I'll just send you two Smiley

Hooray! Thanks for working so hard on this with everything else that you have going on!

I'm cleaning the kitchen tomorrow morning so I can work on my carving at the kitchen table with a clear conscience (and keep an eye on the dishwasher, which gets stuck on one setting and will run endlessly, and the washing machine, which sometimes drains as it fills so it fills endlessly). See, that way, I'm doing housework and crafting at the same time. I'm just a multi-tasking genius sometimes! Wink
