Well, you've inspired me rackycoo! So, I bought myself a Christmas present with some of my birthday money Wink And, I paid for Priority shipping so I should have it by Wednesday! Can't wait!

Now, somewhere I know I have some beer coasters (from a trip to the Harpoon brewery last year) that are just crying out to be made into books! And, I'm sure I'll find a few other things to turn into books, as well!

I think you've started me on a new addiction, so I'll be watching you closely for further inspiration!
6903  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Holiday Nugget Boxes! PICTURE TUTORIAL POST 8! on: December 15, 2007 05:25:15 PM
These will make perfect gifts for the folks at work...next year! I'm bummed because I have absolutely no time to make them for this year. But, they are definitely on the list for later.

Thanks for providing such an awesome tutorial and the fantastic link to the patterns!

Wow, athenaknits?, you really went to town! I have some that I'll be posting tomorrow, but only 5. I haven't made any for myself, yet. After the holidays, I think...
6905  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: I love my Poppet Swap on: December 15, 2007 04:33:06 PM
I don't know what I'll make. I guess I'll have to see how things go when I make my first Poppet! If I don't have too much trouble with the clothes, maybe that's what I'll make. But, accessories might be fun, too! Decisions, decisions Wink

Neat package MunLtStmpr! I love the look of the cross stitch on the black fabric! And, I agree...I wouldn't want to ruin the coasters, either. Is there a way you can stitch them together (maybe on a ribbon or something) to make a banner-type thing?

Ditto! I'll be sewing this weekend and knocking out a huge chunk of my Christmas gifts. So, I might be able to start my Poppet before Christmas!

Thanks, the jenya, for the extra info on the yarn. I really do need to branch out a bit in my yarn selecting. I tend to stick to Red Heart and Caron Simply Soft...and the cotton kind that I can't remember the name of (something and cream...Sugar, maybe?  Tongue ). I only re-learned how to crochet a year ago and haven't been very adventurous...
6909  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Silver and Gold decorations on my Christmas tree. "Tins stars, from soda cans. on: December 14, 2007 04:35:40 PM
Does Coca-Cola still sell soda in the Santa cans at Christmas? Those would make fantastic ornaments too! I might have to buy some soda just for the cans...

Thanks for sharing this idea and the fantastic tutorial!
6910  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Re: floppy disks???? on: December 14, 2007 04:25:05 PM
I saw the title of this and was excited. I just found a box of these at my work - but they are *really* floppy disks, you know -- the kind that could actually "flop", ie, bend - the old school ones
http://cs-exhibitions.uni-klu.ac.at/uploads/pics/5_floppy.jpg

So hmmm. They aren't as solid as the "new" diskettes - any ideas for those?

I saw somewhere on here that someone made these into note pads- punch a hole in the 2 top corners of 2 disks for the front and back covers. Cut paper to size and punch those as well. Secure it all together with rings like you'd find in a binder (the kind that snap together)- you can buy the rings in packages at an office supply store like Staples.

I meant to make some for Christmas but forgot about it. Thanks for the reminder!!
