6801  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Reading Rainbow 4 Sendouts: Feb. 19th on: January 26, 2008 06:33:16 AM
"I love deadlines. I like the whooshing sound they make as they fly by." - Douglas Adams

Love this! I must put it somewhere prominent...

I think I will start on my tote this weekend. A friend of mine slipped on the ice and broke her ankle in a million peices. (6 screws and a plate) I'm going to help with the kids and cooking and we are all going to make welcome home signs for our boys returning from Afghanistan.

I just broke my ankle yesterday, and it hurts like hadies.  They can't do anything until Monday, and I was supposed to go into physical therepy this morning...but apparently they aren't working today.  @# @#$%@#%@#$ @$#@#$@#$@#$! @$##%$!#@**/*//*/*/*/*/)(*&^%$##@@#$%^&#%$#^%$#*^&^%#%#&%@%$#!!!!%$#@&*(&*&*(&**

Please forgive my language.

Ouch! Bad language forgiven. Take care of yourself (with the help of your friends) this weekend Wink
6802  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: I made a baby penguin on: January 25, 2008 06:27:19 PM
I just absolutely love the yarns that you use to get such adorable fuzziness in your critters. And, I wish I had the time to make about 100 of these for the first graders in my school who are learning about penguins right now. Just too cute...

I'm never done with anything early. I'm  procrastinor...

I am definitely a "deadline worker" (sounds much better than procrastinator...which just makes me sound lazy Wink )...I have an uncanny knack for knowing almost exactly how long a task will take me, and then I push it off until I have almost exactly that much time left...doesn't leave much room for screw-ups though Wink

Thanks....and Thanks Smiley I just typed books into google images and it was one that came up.

Thanks! I found it! Now I just need to figure out what to do with it Wink
6805  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: The Force Is Strong With This One (Plushie Yoda Pattern FINALLY added) on: January 25, 2008 06:06:21 PM
Even more fantastic, you are! Thanks again for sharing this pattern! I have some Yoda fleece to edge for a blanket for my brother and I think a Yoda doll would be the perfect thing to go with it (although I do fear that it may become a dog toy...).

6806  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Oh No Please! Not another Hoodie! on: January 25, 2008 05:44:44 PM
Does making a t-shirt quilt count as a re-con? Or a tote bag or drawstring backpack (or a lunch bag...how funny would a Korn shirt be for toting around your lunch?) from a t-shirt? I know that my 8th grade students always had the funniest t-shirts (which I laughed at right before I sent them to the office to get something more "school appropriate" Wink ). And, middle school kids grow so fast, they might have a ton of favorites...

Also, you could show them how to make a t-shirt into a tank (the skinny strap kind that my students were not allowed to wear but tried to wear anyway).

Some kids might like the take a pair of pants and add huge triangular panels to the sides kind of re-con. Or turn a pair of pants into a skirt.
6807  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along on: January 25, 2008 05:20:04 PM
I just ordered a bunch of eyes from Hobby Lobby because I needed some other items they carry and I wanted to get my order up to $25 for free shipping :p So, thanks for the tip on how to get the backs on.

But, in the future, I'll probably order eyes from Sunshine Crafts. If I get clear eyes, what kind of paint do you paint the backs with? Would acrylics work? And, do  you need to seal them with anything? I have some acrylic sealer in a spray can...

And, I just realized that I have a birthday party for 2 little girls on Feb 9th...wonder if I could pull off 3 Poppets by then? (Says the never-sewn-one-before gal Wink ). I do have next weekend free as well...

Note: 3 Poppets= 1 for me + 2 for the girls...

DaisyTattoo- I'm pretty sure that you can send early...I never do, because I'm never done early Wink

And, I love your avatar! Where did you find that image?
6809  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Handmade Rubber Stamps Gallery on: January 25, 2008 04:16:08 PM
Wow, babetto, you got some excellent stamps!

Im not a fan of rats, but MsMarple, you did a fanatastic job on both of those. If I had tried to carve little tiny rat feet, they would have been missing half of their toes!

PlumCrafty, I absolutely love the crows! For some reason, I really admire crows, even though I usually see them disemboweling dead animals by the road. I know crows are very intelligent birds, so maybe that is why I like them so much. And, I really like how a crow in silhouette is still recognizable as a crow!

And, love to bead, another great stamp. I love the curvy, almost feminine lines to this one!

Hey, Miss Disney! I think I have everything that I need to craft for your dad. I also have a back-up idea in case something comes out badly. And a back-up back-up idea in case the back-up comes out badly Wink

My weekend is totally free for crafting and I can't wait to get started tomorrow!!
