craftADDchick: It's a celosia. I love those flowers! They remind me of coral. I love your pic.

Thanks for the info (and the compliment)! I saw the flower one day, and almost missed the bus the next day because I was too busy taking pictures.

Even better, Celosia is also known as Cock's Comb. I used a dark burgundy variety of it in my wedding flowers (alongside orange circus roses and pink dahlias). It looked awesome (I'll dig up some pictures), but  got quite a few raised eyebrows when people asked what it was and I cheerfully chirped, "Cock's Comb!"

Ooooh! I bet it looked beautiful! And, thanks for the common name info. I'll have to look it up to see if I can grow it around here (central MA).

And, I love looking at all of these beautiful photos!! Makes me long for spring...

Okay, I had to post one! I took this picture at an RV park just outside of Washington, D.C. this summer. I have no idea what it is, but it was so funky looking!

6794  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Dinner napkins on: November 27, 2007 06:07:35 PM
What a cute set of napkins! Now you've got me thinking...I could make a unique napkin for each person at the table. The trick will be finding the right fabrics! Oh, the joy of the hunt! Wink

Thanks for sharing!

calluna- I love the fabric on the bag, and I love the messages on your shirts!

bettykate- Those magnets are so cute and clever! I love the fabric and flowers on the purse and the stitch markers are neat- what kind of rings are those, dizzylizzy?

snarkymarmoset- You were spoiled! I love it all! And, I agree- stitching the examples right onto the embroidery card directions is genius!

Ameythestlily- I love your hat and holders, and I love that you got sweaters for your dogs. How cute!

PS- I'll be posting pics of my shirt from SaccharineSunshine04 as soon as my camera battery finishes charging!
6796  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: The Long Awaited Poppet-Along on: November 27, 2007 03:53:19 PM
Oh my goodness! You guys have been so busy! I love all of the recent Poppet additions. Love the boy, Le Tigre, the undies, the boots, the sandals, the hair choices...everything!!

I'm totally supposed to be working on a swap right now, but I had other details to attend to, so I'll be working for the next 3 nights on my swap. Then, this weekend, I might have some time to start my Poppet!
6797  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Re: Notebook Covers (Xmas gifts) on: November 27, 2007 02:05:10 PM
These came out fantastic! Every time I try to make something along these lines, I always end up with something a little too small, and I don't know what I'm doing wrong. I'd love to know your secret Wink
6798  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: nano vinyl ipod case!!! on: November 27, 2007 01:45:22 PM
Love it! But it's making me hungry...
6799  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Re: Can't play piano, but I wear one pretty well! on: November 26, 2007 05:55:44 PM
Very clever! My sister-in-law is a pianist and I know that she would love one of these! Did you make up the pattern yourself? Love to steal it from ya' (the pattern, not the scarf Wink )!
6800  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Snow Baby on: November 26, 2007 09:18:02 AM
Mom crocheted a tube and put two different sized styrofoam balls for the stuffing.  Then she cinched it.  She just used blush for the rosy cheeks.  The nose is a pipe cleaner kinda spiraled.

I hope that helps you out!

It does- Thanks! I never thought about styrofoam balls. That's why they have such a nice shape! I might be making at least one of these for Christmas. I think my mom would love it!

Thanks again!
