6701  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: Marble magnet + tin sets (lots and lots of pics) on: February 23, 2008 02:05:49 PM
I really like the fact that you used such cool themes! And, the clarity of the cabochons really sets them apart from others that I have seen.  I'll have to keep my eyes peeled for some of those. Nicely done!
6702  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Double coptic bound book on: February 23, 2008 02:01:33 PM
I love coptic bindings, but never thought about using it to make a dos-a-dos style book...ingenious! What amazing paper, too...angling the stripes really added to the overall design.  Awesome book!

I couldn't have said it better! This is fantastic (I was just about to type ingenious...see she said it! Wink ) and your use of the paper's design just gives it that added special touch. Inspiring work!

jrsloane1, what a fabulous bag you got! I love the octopus, and the lining material is great!  I also love the one you made- the pattern on the bag is so neat. And, jenncastor, those bookmarks you made are outstanding (especially the octopus one!). I also really like the one you received, too! Nice stitching!
6704  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Altoid Tin Theme Swap Round 10 (Send outs EXTENDED TO 2/25, 3 extra days!) on: February 23, 2008 01:54:17 PM
I'm supposed to be cleaning the house, but I am procrastinating by finishing up my tin! If it comes out like I  hope, I might not want to part with it (so I'll have to make one for myself Wink ). I'll ship on Monday before work, I think.
6705  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Babette's blanket from IK Crochet 2006? on: February 23, 2008 08:59:24 AM
mikan, that is gorgeous! And, who cares if nothing else you own is pink! Keep it!

FicklePegasus and Calsters, nice book bags! I really like the city scene fabric, and the purple sets it off nicely. The crocheted bag is fantastic too! I like both of the bookmarks, too- but it's funny, because it looks like you should trade so the bookmark matches your bag Wink

I read The Thief Lord and really enjoyed it (not sure about the ending, though) and I didn't realize West Side Story was a book- did it come before the musical and movie?

When I went to read more about them, I saw this picture. He looks just like yours! You captured the cute little face beautifully  Cheesy

Wow! Bugaboo1, Holliewood made you an awesome tin! The chocolates on the top look good enough to eat. And I love the stitch markers and the coffee bean bracelet. Now I have a craving for coffee…and chocolate…mmmmmm…

ATeaPartyScandal, your tin is adorable! Those elephants are very cute, and I really like the appliqué on the inside cover. And, all of the trinkets inside are fantastic. Lots of crafty possibilities!

I had to re-think my tin. An item I would have sworn I owned is not actually in my possession…but something very similar is. Alas, not similar enough. So, I’m taking the outside of my tin in a whole new direction. I hope I can pull it off, and I hope that what I made will fit in (the tin is a different shape, now).

Wow jewelaroni! What an amazing haul of stuff you got! Casstasstrophe really did spoil you! I love the bookmarks, and the book cozy is fabulous. The mushroom on the tote is very cute, too. And all of the extras are super sweet!

Purelectricty, the tote bag that you made for DaisyTattoo is adorable. The saying on it cracks me up! And, I love the little hearts…

And, DaisyTattoo, I love the owl fabric on the bag that you made for Purelectricty. And, that bookmark with the red ribbon is one that I would always be able to find!

Okay, okay.  I am at my breaking point.  I MUST learn how to crochet!  Your patterns are adorable!  Do you have any book suggestions for someone who has never touched a crochet hook?  I want to get started so I can justify a mass purchase of patterns...heh. Grin

I'd highly recommend The Happy Hooker by Deb Stoller.

Excellent instructions and fun patterns to try!
