craftADDchick - those are seriously the most splendid underpants I have ever seen. You should totally make those full-time!

This swap is awesome, btw.

Thanks! I stressed myself out quite a bit over them, but I do love how they came out! Now that I know how they'll come out, it'd be fun to make a couple of sets and see if I could sell them at a craft fair or something. I'd have to find more permanent stencils, though. I cut those out of freezer paper, which I love using because the edges don't raise up (and I don't need to make bridges), so they're pretty much single use.

Nice job on the pin-up undies!

good to see you got them safe n sound.

yes how could I NOT send vegemite?Huh??
I LOVE the stuff.

I am still not sure about what I am going to do with my paper.

and I have yet to finish off my embroidery project maybe tomorrow, I spent today replanting fruit trees

I've wanted to try Vegemite ever since Men at Work sang about Vegemite sandwiches Wink I hear it's an acquired taste...

And, craftydeb, I have a Mac running Mac OS X (version 10.4.11). I'll be gone most of the weekend, but if you need me...
6705  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: GRANNIES DAUGHTERS CROCHET SWAP R1 (CLOSED) Sendout-10/13/08 on: September 19, 2008 06:02:15 PM
I just finished my first dozen! I have about 30 balls of yarn from the "Little Odd Ball Yarn Swap" and I think I'm just going to crochet through each ball until I run out. Then, I'll pack up a bunch for my partners and send them out. For the first dozen, I left them all connected. I'll probably cut them apart tomorrow and weave in the starting ends tomorrow (my partners said I could leave the outer tail hanging- yay!). Each ball from the swap was supposed to be 10 yards, but this one was obviously a bit bigger- I was surprised to get 12 from one little ball.

I had to use an I hook to get the right gauge- when I used an H, they were almost exactly 1.5 inches, and I was worried that I might end up with some that were too small. With the I hook, they came out almost exactly 1.75 inches, so if I have any that are small for some reason, they should still be within the size range.

But, I'm happy that I've started! Cheesy

I received from Tanza! She made me 27 sheets!!! of paper! They are so lovely and I textural- some are bumpy-ish and some are soft. I love them! And, she made them in my favorite colors! They also have a cool speckle pattern to them- I included a close-up to try to show it. She also sent along some green linen squares (no way are they going to be used as napkins... I may make a zipper pouch with them) with an adorable embroidered trio of robots embroidered. Robots = love! And, she included some teas and a couple of samples of Vegemite for me to try. Thanks a bunch, Tanza!!

The whole lot:

I'll be using the paper to make one or two hand-bound journals- yay! Thanks again, Tanza!

I can't wait to see more in the gallery, either! Too fun! I wish I could make some of these as gifts, but it's a bit awkward to ask folks what size and type of undies they wear...

Well that's when you go to their house or something and sneak a peak at the undie drawer. lol just don't dig too deep you never know what ppl keep in there.  Tongue

I think you could guess pretty easy. I mean, undies usually just come in small, medium, large etc. So you could probably get it right.
Or ask their SO - could get ideas that way, too.

I never thought about sm, med, lg, xl since my undies come with a size number. Guess it depends on the style. I'd hate to guess wrong... oh, you mean you don't have a "large" sized butt? Wink

Asking the SO is a good idea, provided I know that him well enough to ask that kind of question... Wink

Maybe I'll have a "Decorate Your Undies" party or something instead. They can bring their own undies (new and washed) and I can provide paints and embellishments... Could be lots of fun! And silly...

Good to know about the APCs. I was (finally) able to get my package in the mail this morning, get a money order for this afternoon, get my parking space at school, and come in to find that the turtle survived the night! So, it's a good day so far Wink

I was going to get this turtle last year, but another teacher wanted it too, so I let her keep it. Good thing, too. She figured out the best way to take care of it so that the work is minimal. Good thing about turtles- they don't bite like hamsters do. Bad thing- as a first grader told me, "They have germs!" So, with a little monitoring, a turtle might not be a bad first pet (but they can live up to 70 years, so it could end up being a pet for a long time).

Back to swap talk- I can't wait for my paper to arrive. I'm already thinking about the journal I'll make with it (it'd make a fabulous gift for my sister, I think... but I may make a small one for me, too!)!

Hah! Now I don't think I dare to even try to sneak a peek! Wink

I love the bagsket! It's on my very long list of things to make, but I really don't need any more bags. Maybe by the time I get around to making one, I will Wink

And, Muria, that shirt is fabulous! I'm not offering any other opinions, though because I can't decide Wink

My second package will be in the mail tomorrow. Life has seriously gotten in the way of me getting to the PO. Today, I had a turtle delivered to my classroom after school and it took longer than I hoped it would. And then I hit traffic. I don't know if you can do an international package at the APC, but I wasn't even going to try. Tomorrow, I'll be at the door when the PO opens!  And then I can finish up my Poppet this weekend!
