6671  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Jellyfish Tea Towel on: November 08, 2007 06:43:45 PM
I have a copy of Haeckel's Art Forms from Nature, from Dover Press, sitting right beside my computer. I never would have thought to embroider any of the designs, but you have opened my eyes to the possibilities! You did an absolutely amazing job with this jellyfish- you captured the beauty of them without going overboard. I can't wait to see what else you do!
6672  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: Wallet made from a computer keyboard on: November 08, 2007 06:19:34 PM
I work at a school, and there has been a box heaped with old keyboards just sitting in the media center. Yesterday, I asked what was going to happen to them, and explained my interest. I was told that I could take "as many as I wanted...please!"

Guess what all of my geeky guy friends are getting for Christmas this year?
6673  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: Knit DNA! on: November 08, 2007 06:15:20 PM
To make it into a scarf, I wonder if it would work if you just didn't stuff it quite so much? It seems like it would need a little stuffing to give it definition, but not too much, or else you wouldn't be able to wrap it around your neck.

Where can you get this Joannes coupon-online or do you get an ad in the paper-I need to head back there for the doll needles (and probably more fabric and maybe some eyeballs if they have them).

I've signed up for their mailing list- snail mail and e-mail- and I get the coupons sent to me. I get sales flyers (with coupons) in the regular mail, and e-mail announcements and coupons. You might be able to snag a sales flyer at the store...might be able to grab a coupon that way!

Thanks! Joanne's has a 10% off your entire order coupon for this weekend, and when I was buying fabric (already on sale), I "shopped" for everything else I wanted to get. Now I'll add the doll sculpting needles and  buttons. There is a curtain/home dec store around the corner, but I don't know if they do upholstery. I'll have to take a stroll down there...

I was in Joanne's last night and the Alova suede was on sale for $2.99 a yard...so I bought 4 yards.

I can't wait to start making one of these! I'm just worried about the face...I don't have the skill to paint a decent one, and I'm just re-learning embroidery. Any suggestions?

Also, where can I find a doll-making needle?

So, who will be the first to make a batch of nesting buckets? Wink

Oh, man! I want to drop everything I am doing tonight and pick up the gauntlet that you have just thrown down...but alas, duty must prevail...

Cool mug- the spoon is great, and I love the pattern! The mug cozy is also  very nice. And, you got a great variety of treats!

And Zelda.Suicide, I see that, in addition to crochet, you are a "sewing machine" too! Smiley

I am a craft junkie, seriously, I can't just stick to one craft, I have to try them all.

Me too (I'm craftADDchick for a reason Wink Problem is, I don't have enough time to make everything I want to make!

But, I definitely need to dig out my fabric for these bags and whip up a few in the next week! I need to give the gift next weekend!
