1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: 2016 QuiltAlong, now with prizes! on: July 25, 2016 09:37:37 PM
July 25th Check In

I've used flannel to back quilts, but otherwise, what I've done so far has been cotton. I have the materials for a hexie project (a Wild Olive project) that uses linen for the embroidered hexies. I'm also planning to do an embroidery sample quilt, and I think the embroidery is done on linen. I'm planning out a t-shirt quilt, and the t-shirts are mostly cotton or cotton/poly, and I'm backing it with old jeans.
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / Craft Swaps / Re: Craftster Card Swap (SignUps 7/15/16-7/29/16, Sendouts 8/15/16) on: July 25, 2016 09:31:24 PM
I found the image I want to use for the front (and I know what I want to use for the next round, if I can find it!), but now I have to decide how I want to do the back. I think I'll use the computer for the text, but I might do the border by hand (or carve a stamp).

I won't have time to work on anything until next week, so I'll have plent of time to think about it Smiley
3  CROCHET / Crochetalongs / Re: Frida's Flowers CAL-FREE Ravelry Pattern on: July 25, 2016 09:23:29 PM
They're bigger than I thought! Which, I suppose, is good because it makes the blanket bigger Smiley

I might check out the pattern and see if I have the right colors in my stash of worsted yarn. I don't know if I could do a blanket, but it would make a beautiful shawl or wrap!

As long as the fabrics are 100% cotton, I'll take a few. If I find they won't work in the quilt, I'll use them for something else Smiley

Wow! So pretty! How big is each block?

MareMare, I like your hexie kit! Nicely portable! I use a zipper pouch, but it lacks dividers, so I'm tempted to switch Smiley

And, Averia, I agree! Fussy cutting is an art! I mostly just try to center an image, although I did pick up a fabric that could lend itself to "artistic" cutting. Not sure if I have the skill, yet!

3 1/2 hours! Holy cow! I crochet slowly so I'm sure it would take me longer. But, it's a beauty!

Nope, 1 inch please! My long term project I already have all the fabric for, it's all Violet Craft Madrona Road. Moving forward on other projects I'll use traditional sizes lol!

Great! Thanks Smiley

Oh, and here's an idea if you want to play along:

I picked up a piece of fabric to represent my state/region. I'm going to include it as an extra hexie! I thought it would be fun because we are scattered throughout 4 countries, and here in the US, we cover 5 different states.

No obligation, of course! But, on my shopping spree, I saw a fabric I could use and I couldn't resist Smiley
