1  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Koi Belt Buckle (Resin) on: August 26, 2008 03:32:41 PM
I use to make these all the time.  I bought 15 buckle blanks and thought they were all gone, but I found one more, so I made this...

The koi is my own drawing...

Some of my older buckles:

3  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Warbler Brooch (In Sterling Silver) on: May 30, 2008 10:46:48 AM
Hey everybody,

I made this brooch this spring using the lost wax casting method and blue wax.  The details are depletion gilded (although you can't really see it from the picture) and I set a cubic zirconia in the bird's breast.  The cz is gypsy or flush set, this is one of the easiest settings for me... so that also makes it my favourite.

Hey, everyone... it's been a long time since my last project post (about 9 months)... I've been busy I guess!  Anyway, here's a brooch I just made.  It's a custom piece for a friend of a friend.  If you have any questions about the techniques I used, please let me know.

5  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Lost Earring Swap on: February 25, 2007 08:19:15 AM
If you wear earrings, I'm sure you've lost at least one in your life time.  In the past ladies' earrings have usually come in pairs (ok, they generally still do), but really... do they have to match exactly to be a pair?

In this swap, I'm thinking that participants could send out single earrings.  Maybe you lost one of the pair and can't find another earring to (sort of) match the remaining one with?  Or maybe you have a particular single earring in mind that needs a new partner?  And of course earrings aren't difficult to make so we could send out hand-made ones as well.

This could be a low cost swap (partners can decide how many individual earrings they each want to send out).  And if hygiene is a concern, ear wires can be changed at some point.  Any other thoughts on this?
6  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Hot Pot Kiln? on: September 07, 2006 07:04:03 PM
krazigal feel free to merge this with the pmc sticky if you want....

I'm just wondering if any one has any experience using this kiln for PMC and mainly I want to know if you can use it to fire pieces that contain lab grown gems or other things that you can put into pmc when you're firing it in a regular kiln.  Anybody know?

I've never been to one of these, but I'd thought I'd post to see if anyone here has and to remind myself to look into it more later.

8  CANADA / Ontario / Who Are You? on: August 10, 2006 08:10:38 AM
I'd love to get to know more crafty people from around this area.  I'm sure there are some of you who would as well.  So who are you?  What's your main craft interest?  Do you have a shop/ blog/ website?  I'll start...

I'm Alene.  I'm from Hamilton and plan to go to George Brown in September for the Jewellery Methods Program.  My blog and etsy shop are listed below. I've been working a lot with resin lately, I also like to work with PMC and sterling silver. I also knit on occasion.
9  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions / Metals... on: August 09, 2006 05:28:13 PM
...besides the wire you use for beadwork and pre-made charms...  Tongue

I want to see more of your finished metal clay, fabricated, lost wax cast, and (possibly even) forged jewelry pieces.  I know there's people who read this forum who work with metals, but I haven't seen any posted in the completed projects area for ages.  If this is you, I hope that there's not some reason that you've been discouraged from posting.  Please show us what you've got!!
10  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Sterling Bird Pin... on: June 26, 2006 03:19:09 PM
I'm really happy with this pin...  I used the same drawing that I used for the belt buckles I made a while back, printed it off of my computer and sawed the image out of sterling silver.

I don't have much else to say about it right now, if you have any questions... just ask!
