1  Re: Koi Belt Buckle in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Neigung on: October 17, 2008 10:26:48 PM
Oh yeah, of course you can make buckles. Smiley

I also made this little Koi pin, I'm probably going to use this drawing until I get sick of looking at it.

2  Koi Belt Buckle (Resin) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Neigung on: August 26, 2008 03:32:41 PM
I use to make these all the time.  I bought 15 buckle blanks and thought they were all gone, but I found one more, so I made this...

The koi is my own drawing...

Some of my older buckles:

3  Warbler Brooch (In Sterling Silver) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Neigung on: May 30, 2008 10:46:48 AM
Hey everybody,

I made this brooch this spring using the lost wax casting method and blue wax.  The details are depletion gilded (although you can't really see it from the picture) and I set a cubic zirconia in the bird's breast.  The cz is gypsy or flush set, this is one of the easiest settings for me... so that also makes it my favourite.

Varathane?  I used spray Varathane for this and it worked very well...

I just made this weird pin with fake gold leaf and a 4mm cubic zirconia with the last of my epoxy resin.  (It was old and yellowing so I mixed together what was left and let it set so I could dispose of it.)

I'm not sure how I feel about it!  It's kind of tacky... but kind of fun too.

7  PMC Brooch in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by Neigung on: April 11, 2007 12:03:06 PM
Hey, everyone... it's been a long time since my last project post (about 9 months)... I've been busy I guess!  Anyway, here's a brooch I just made.  It's a custom piece for a friend of a friend.  If you have any questions about the techniques I used, please let me know.

8  Re: How's your Etsy shop doing now? in Selling Crafts on Etsy.com by Neigung on: November 26, 2006 02:16:00 PM
Time for me to get involved in this new thread. 38 pages already, wow! I love etsy's new layout! The larger thumbnails are excellent.

My shop has been very, very slow lately... but today I finally managed to list a new item, this tiger belt buckle:

I also listed a custom walnut buckle for a woodworking student (under sold items now). My next goal is to reactivate an old listing for a pmc pendant that I had to remake after I found myself wearing it constantly.

9  Re: Guatemalan Friendship Bracelets??? :) in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by Neigung on: July 08, 2006 03:32:25 PM
I used to make those when I was younger!  The string is most likely not just wrapped around... this is how I used to do it:

Take the colour you want to use, make a "4", wrap it around the back of the colours that aren't in use and through the whole that the four makes... pull taught and continue from there.  You can change colours at any time.

10  Re: * Represent Your City Round 2* Swap Gallery in The Swap Gallery by Neigung on: July 08, 2006 12:59:47 PM
Here's the package I got from PAKnitchic!  Both her and I are living in the Steel City's of our countries (Pittsburgh, PA and Hamilton, ON) so she was an interesting swap partner for me to have.  The first picture is of a very unique bag that she made for me.

...and here's the rest!  Brochures, local entertainment magazine, maps, etc.  My favourite part was the recipes she included.  Great idea... hopfully I get the chance to try one or two of them out one of these days.
