2  Baby Skull Earflap Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by dofnup on: March 26, 2008 03:14:00 PM
Soooo ... my baby is due in June, and morning sickness made me not want to knit, but one day DH demanded that I start making things for baby. OK, OK!! So I took out all my knitting mags and books and told him to choose a pattern, knowing full well that he would want an earflap hat and a "manly" theme (we're having a boy). He chose the luggy bonnet from Weekend Knitting, but since it's knit flat and has way too many color changes, I ignored him and made this:

It's a combination of the Li'l Devil Baby Hat found here:
http://www.kittyville.com/knit/devil_hat.html

and the Pirate mittens pattern found here:
http://www.helloyarn.com/piratemittens.htm

This was my first stranded knitting project so I am verrrry proud of it, even if the sides are a little wonky (I made it using the Magic Loop method) but I'm sure the baby won't care!  Wink

4  Re: Can someone help with CRAFTzine Crochet Robot pattern? in Crochet: Discussion and Questions by dofnup on: February 18, 2007 03:21:52 PM
OK guys, you ready for a laugh??

I had been ... ahem ahem ... SLIP STITCHING instead of single-crocheting!! NO WONDER it looked wonky!!!

I'm sitting there looking at it and it looks all wrong and I'm starting to get frustrated again ... and then it hits me. Duh!

So I got up and told my hubby: I just realized I've been doing it all wrong so now I need to go to on teh interwebz and tell everyone so they can laugh too!! lololol

5  Re: Searching for free pattern - simple gloves in fingering weight in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by dofnup on: February 09, 2007 07:04:03 AM
You, my friend, need the following:

http://www.interweave.com/knit/interweave_knits/pdf_files/Progressive_Gloves.pdf

It's instructions for making 3 types of gloves with any yarn, any needle, any gauge ... it's fantastarrific!!

6  Re: Knucks! in Knitting: Completed Projects by dofnup on: February 07, 2007 02:50:22 PM
Arrrgh!! I tried    I got 3/4 of the way done with my first Knucks before realizing that the index finger was freakishly long and the middle finger was freaksihly short, and that the yarn was, quite possibly, too bulky for gloves

Sigh ...

I guess I'll frog, make another pair of Fetching with this yarn, and go buy a more suitable yarn for Knucks.

Round two!
