This is a really cute outfit.  And so is the red you also posted.  I like how the bodice part criss crosses.

I am in total love with this dress!  And I would never know you are new to sewing.  The dress looks great.

Thanks for the compliments everyone! Smiley  Now let me see if I can answer some questions.

so cute!  where o where did you get this fabric!!!!!!!11?!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The fabric is by Alexander Henry from the Tillbrook collection.  I got mine from an Etsy seller but if you just do a  google search, you can find it lots of places.

The outfit fits the model too much for perfection!! Kudos to the good work!

Are the shoulder straps elasticised???

They are elasticized.  I do the straps and then make a little casing for the elastic to go through.  You can make then like this without the ruffle too.

Did you make the pants or embellish an existing pair?  The ruffle doesn't look like you had to mess with all the bulk you usually find at the bottom of a pair of jeans...
So I guess my real question is how you attached the ruffle...

I embellished a pair of Children's Corner jeans.  I cut the bottom off after I figured out how long I wanted the ruffle.  Then I ripped out the side seams so I could get them flat to sew on the rick rack and the ruffle and do the applique.  Then I sewed the side seams up when I was finished adding everything.

If you have any more questions, just ask.  And thanks for looking everyone! Smiley

19  CLOTHING / Clothing for Kids: Completed Projects / New Mushroom outfit for my Sweetie on: March 14, 2009 08:31:33 PM
I made a new mushroom outfit for my little sweetie.  The top works for cooler weather now with a tee shirt under it and then in the summer it will be great on its own.  This is the first time I have appliqued on jeans and it was easier than I thought it would be.

I appliqued a mushroom on the top to match the fabric.  You can't see it too well because of all the gathering in the top.

And the jeans applique

I just love this!  That is so cool that you found the same fabric that is used on the pattern.
