11  Ready for summer -- pretty yellow flowered purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: April 26, 2007 04:12:07 PM
So this bag is just a smaller version of the blue jean bag that I made earlier.  (see blue jean bag here http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=156048.msg1556243#msg1556243 ) Of course, since it is not made out of blue jeans I didn't have the pockets for the outside.  But I still like how it turned out.  I fused some fleece next to the outside fabric to give it a little stability.

So here's the whole thing

12  It is a clutch convention! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: April 19, 2007 03:40:31 PM
I've been on this clutch making binge lately.  I quilt the fabric and then I use the free Kwik Sew pattern to make the clutch.  I like making them so much that I have 3 more already cut out!  check them all out posing so pretty! Wink

13  This is a clutch not a potholder! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: April 02, 2007 08:52:53 AM
My husband keeps joking around and calling this clutch a potholder because it is quilted!  I'm done showing him stuff right now until he can quit being a smarty pants!  Roll Eyes

Anyway I made this little quilt out of fabric that has little gold accents on it.  I quilted it with the clear thread so that kind of looks shiny too in with the gold.  I added a button on front but it is just for looks -- it closes with a magnetic snap.  And I want to keep this one so bad -- I love how it turned out.  okay so on with the pics:

14  Does this look hideous? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: March 30, 2007 11:07:10 AM
This was an order from a lady and I have had the hardest time getting it done.  I've never put feathers on a purse before so I'm not sure that it looks okay.  And I tried to put the eyelash yard on it but she insisted that she wants feathers on it instead.  So what do you think?

15  What is better than a new pair of blue jeans? in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: Reconstructed by ScissorSister7 on: March 03, 2007 08:02:32 PM
A purse made out of blue jeans!  I'm really liking how this one turned out.  I pulled apart a pair of REALLY BIG jeans from the thrift store and put them back together as a purse.

I pulled the back pockets off the jeans and put them on the front and back of the purse.

Then then sides are made with the front pockets still attached so you can use those too.  I think these are the perfect size to put my cell phone in.

Gotta show off my new zipper skills   Cool

Lining is just plain.  Since this was the first time I made this purse I didn't put pockets on the inside but I might do that next time.

and the ever-popular action shot.  Pls ignore my funky hair -- not a good hair day today.

Whenever I figure out my embroidery machine, I want to monogram the pockets before I sew them on the front and back.  That darn machine has me stumped though.

Oh and Mods I know this probably goes in the recon section but all my friends are on this board and they will never look for me on the other board.   Wink

16  Just a couple of bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: February 22, 2007 08:40:26 AM
I have had the pieces for these two bags cut out forever.  But I have been in a slump and it took me more than a month to sew these two up.  I like them both but I think I like the orange, pink & lime one a little better.  But shhhhh! I don't want the other bag to get its feelings hurt!  Tongue

17  Another quilted purse in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: February 11, 2007 05:10:52 PM
I was inspired by this post by thismomsews here: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=149162.msg1476972#msg1476972 and I used the same pattern that she used but in the large size.

I also have been spending some time at the Vera Bradley site checking out her purses too.  I noticed that all (or most) of her bags are quilted and it just seems to give them a little ooomph! or something.  So I cut out the pieces to this bag first and then I quilted the fabric and then made the bag according to the pattern. But I left off the piping so mine would look a little different. I did add a little top stitching around the edges that the pattern didn't call for.

So here goes:

18  Here's a couple that are ready for spring in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: February 08, 2007 06:56:02 AM
I have several fat quarters of very spring looking fabrics that I want to use up.  I can make these bags out of 2 fat quarters so they are perfect to use up my fat quarters.

This bag didn't photo well but it is a lavendar color with a peach flower on it.  It is prettier in person.

This purse is olive with bright green, blue and white accents.  I would love to find a bigger piece of this fabric but sadly I only had a fat quarter of this fabric.

and the surprise! bright green lining

So now are you ready for spring?  Smiley

19  Here are my latest quilted bags in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: February 07, 2007 07:11:26 PM
I just love making these bags.  I always thought that quilting something would be really hard but it isn't.  Now that I've done these I would like to make some more quilted bags.  I just have to work out the patterns that are swimming around in my head.  Anyway here's the bags.

This one is shades of purple.  My husband says the pictures look like it is a black & white bag but they are really purple fabrics.

And this one is red, white & very dark denim.  At one time the red plaid was a pillow cover and the red polka dots was a dress.

I've got fabric cut out to make two more quilted bags.  One is pink, orange & lime green and the other is black, white & red.  Then I have the fabric for one that will be shades of yellow & red.  I think I am addicted to making these bags.

20  Lots & lots 'o purses (very pic heavy) in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by ScissorSister7 on: January 28, 2007 02:20:58 PM
I just realized that I haven't posted much of anything that I've done lately.  Just call me a slacker!  Wink

So here's what's been going on in my sewing room.

I just love this plaid and I think it looks very cute and preppy.  Everyone else that has seen it hates it.  Sad

This one is made out of upholstery fabric that I just love.  The pics don't really do the fabric justice.  It is a golden brown color with rust & chocolate accents.

This is a little one with a zipper.  I'm new to putting in zippers so I'm always pleased when they turn out okay.  I love this fabric too.

This isn't a purse but I'm throwing it in anyway.  It is a tissue holder & a key fob.  I did the decorative stitching with my new sewing machine (that I'm still learning how to operate).

Another zippered purse with a matching tissue dispense and key fob.  The inside of the purse is black with teeny white polka dots.

Just a small zippered pouch.  It could be a makeup bag and maybe even a small clutch purse.  I just love this fabric and wish I could find more of it.

And finally the a little rounded zippered bag.  The fabric has little flowers embossed on it that are kind of hard to see.  And the fabric sort of feels like suede.  It is a little purse but I still put quite a bit of stuff into it when I was testing it out.

So that is it for now.  I'm off to make a few more purses today & I'll try to post them as I do them instead of making one HUGE post like this one.
