If you are into crafting you could pick up the $1.00 flip-flops at someplace like Hobby Lobby or Wal-mart and create embellishments with yarn, beads or paint.

You could make up slushie mix to have a colorful poolside treat.  This is the basic recipe I use and I play with the Jelllo/ Juice flavors for fun I highly recommend a cherry-lime combo.

Orange Ice

1 quart water
1 3oz. package lemon jello
2 c. orange juice
1 c. sugar

Mix water and sugar to boiling.  Remove from heat and add jello.  Cool.  Add juice and freeze.  Set out about 2 hours prior to serving so it will be easier to "slush".  Use a knife or large fork to break it up into slushie consistency.

Also you could set up a foot scrub area to get your feet all summer ready using a kiddie pool full of fine play sand.  Try this recipe http://www.bathandbodyrecipes.com/tip.php?tipid=780

Just some thoughts it sounds like you will be having a great time, good luck.

13  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Party Planning / Technically not a pop star party but would love ideas......... on: June 04, 2008 07:27:55 AM
Hello, I am fairly new to posting and I haven't posted on this particular board yet but wow are you guys creative!  I love party planning and should have checked out your ideas sooner.  So now I will be so bold as to pick your brains if you don't mind.

Technically, I am not having a party but I am a counselor for a week at a summer camp and I always decorate my cabin with a theme.  My girls are aged 7-11 and I was told by my not so timid daughter I should have a "pop star" theme.  I have gold stars to hang from the ceiling, twinkle lights and that wiry shiny garland.  I also try and give them a small favor each day to let them know I'm glad they are there. So far I have mini-composition books recovered in star paper with a fancy pencil, and small crocheted pouches with lip gloss, I need to come up with about 4 more favor ideas and maybe something I can put on their bunks as a pouch or bag for keeping things, like flashlights , hair and tooth brushes.  Also if you have any more decor ideas please share.  Anyway if any of you have input or thoughts I'd love to hear it.  Thanks!

Thank you.  I gave it to her at church this morning and she did love it.  As a matter of fact, she has been wanting to incorporate more brown into her family room so the color was to her liking as well. The yarn is Bernat Softee Chunky True Taupe.  It's pretty bulky but light weight.  I got the pattern from the book Crochet in No Time by Melody Griffiths, I borrowed it from the library but it has several patterns I'd use so it may go on a wish list.

Well with my kiddos sports and other miscellaneous things I forget to say I am not available to do, my schedule has been jam packed and I haven't been able to finish up any of my works in progress.  So last night I took the evening off and sat down to finish this up.  It's an afghan I made for a friend of mine who has been a great encouragement to me this year while I worked through some stressful situations and it felt so good to be able to do a small something in return for her.  Anyway I think it turned out pretty nice what do ya'll think? Thanks for looking.

Love those tops and the fabrics.  My daughter loves that plaid stuff!  Apparently it is all the rage at Limited Too.  Now if I had any snoopy fabric I'd be in heaven love that guy!  And I'd love to get my hands on a new baby mine are all to big to be that sweet or fresh smelling.
