81  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Wicket the Ewok - now with tutorial on p9! Update on p13. *PDF pattern attached* on: November 01, 2006 08:54:22 AM
My boys are mad on Star Wars, and when I asked my 6 year-old what he wanted me to make him, he said an Ewok (Wicket to be precise). So here's my attempt:

I'm happy with the body (he's 5 inches tall), especially the fingers and toes. The features were quite difficult, especially as Wicket has grey fur on his face, and I couldn't think of an easy way to do it. I ended up just embroidering it on.

***Now with tutorial on page 9***

***UPDATE - link to full pattern on page 13***

***NEW UPDATE! 14th September 2011***
The PDF pattern is now attached to this post - see below.
82  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Orange monkey on: October 04, 2006 08:54:44 AM
I'm obsessed with making monkeys. I keep trying different shapes and sizes and types of face to get the look of monkey I really like. My son requested an orange one to hang on his bag, so I gave this fairly dumpy one a try.

Here's me holding it for a bit of scale. I haven't attached it to a key-ring or anything yet.

83  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Red cat with stripey top on: October 02, 2006 11:44:54 AM
My 13 year-old brother-in-law saw some of the things I had been making & asked me to make him a cat. He chose the colours - I think they look pretty good.

I tried to make an edge to the cat's top, but it was really fiddly. I couldn't manage to do it on the edge of the sleeves.
84  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 15 ENTRIES / Robot (not an elephant, honest!) on: October 02, 2006 01:40:06 AM
My first challenge - this is fun!

I wanted to do a robot, but I wasn't sure what shape to make him, so I asked my 6 year-old son to draw me a robot. He did a very simple picture, which then turned into this:

I don't know how he ended up looking like an elephant, but there you are. His 'ears' are in fact two extra heads with eyes on them, so he can look all around.

See, he can even look behind himself!

He has a 'trunk' which is a sensor and can also pick things up.

He has wheels on his feet, which are actually marbles. He is bright and colourful so that he is not mistaken for an elephant, which would be embarrassing.

I hope you all like him!

85  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / White Totoro, with link to pattern. on: September 25, 2006 09:24:56 AM
As a follow up to my last post, here's the white Totoro I made for my 4 year-old, and the pattern is on my LJ: http://heavens-hellcat.livejournal.com/730.html

I don't know if or when I'm going to make the big Totoro. If it's in scale with the other two, it'll be pretty big! Miyazaki films are a good source of inspiration for cute things to make.
86  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Blue Totoro, with pattern link. on: September 25, 2006 06:20:30 AM
Hi, first proper post here!

I made this a few weeks ago for my six year-old son, after we watched My Neighbour Totoro for the first time. I finally got round to writing out the pattern, which is my very first post on my LJ! http://heavens-hellcat.livejournal.com/420.html
Hope this all works...
