Great stuff! The design of the robot looks really interesting, I'd love to see some bigger pictures.

Brilliant mix of the three themes, and your artwork is great. Very cool earrings!

2266  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 15 ENTRIES / Robot (not an elephant, honest!) on: October 02, 2006 01:40:06 AM
My first challenge - this is fun!

I wanted to do a robot, but I wasn't sure what shape to make him, so I asked my 6 year-old son to draw me a robot. He did a very simple picture, which then turned into this:

I don't know how he ended up looking like an elephant, but there you are. His 'ears' are in fact two extra heads with eyes on them, so he can look all around.

See, he can even look behind himself!

He has a 'trunk' which is a sensor and can also pick things up.

He has wheels on his feet, which are actually marbles. He is bright and colourful so that he is not mistaken for an elephant, which would be embarrassing.

I hope you all like him!

That is completely gorgeous, kitkabbit! It is so obviously made with love and the end product is something I would personally love on my wall!

Thank you everyone for your nice comments. I hope you have fun making either of the totoros, I don't think they're that difficult, it's just useful to know where to increase and decrease. Since I wrote up the pattern I've had them sitting on my computer desk, and I think they like it here.

oh. my.  I so wist this!

would you like to personal swap, perhaps?

unfortunately you just missed the ghibli/miyazaki swap, but you should follow its thread!!!!

what a way to post your 1st newbie post!!!
i'm in awe.

and. most importantly.
welcome to craftster!
You'll find an incredible amount of creativity and cool ppl here.
beware, you may find yourself spending HOURS here!!

I'll be looking forward to your next posts!

Thanks kat, I'll definitely keep an eye on that swap. I think I'm going to be madly busy from now to Xmas, I'm already committed to making things for my children's school bazaar, so maybe no swaps for me until 2007! If you don't make yourself a totoro by then it would be fun to sort out some kind of swap though. Oh, and I didn't need the warning, I already spend far too much time here!
