i'm so excited! new earrings! i made a pair with craft foam in the shape of lighting bolts, but i can't seem to cut a nice circle (or anything other than a straight line) in the foam. any tips? (i've tried fabric scissors and an exact-o knife, but nothing's working for me.)
my best friend is moving to london for a semester of school, and since she's leaving a couple of days after christmas i'm giving her "london in a box" for her present. i've got a couple of ideas, but i'd like more. i feel like i'm missing some really good british stuff. here's what i have so far:
+ brit magazine + miniature brit flag + different flavored teas + a bag of goldfish & a bag of doritos (get it? fish n chips? lol) + british beer (someone told me they sell it around here) + beatles album/pin + 'god save the queen' pin/sticker + lots of stationary w/ something british on it (the tower of london, maybe) + a monty python movie + british dictionary (i'd love suggestiong for british slang words to put in there, too!) + british cookies + a picture frame with prince wil in it + spicegirls cd + guitar pick earrings (the picks have the british flag on them) + brochures for random british landmarks + map of london with tourist attractions circled (any suggestions for those would be greatly appreciated, too!)
it sounds like alot i guess, but i might not be able to do all of the above. oh, and i was thinking of incorporating some london haunted spots in there somehow, but i'm not sure how. anyway, help please! <3
a few days ago my cousin's daughter, who's 2, came over and desperately needed something to do. so i decided to let her help me wrap a birthday present for one of my friends. here's what we came up with:
i absolutely count decorating a christmas tree as a craft, especially if you've hand-made ornaments or decorations. so i decided to post some pictures of the tree my mom and i decorated a few days ago. (ok, so it was before thanksgiving... we couldn't resist!)
i'd love to see pictures of everyone else's trees, too!
i'm relatively new to this site, and i keep seeing swap posts that sound like so much fun! i would love to take part in one, but i have no idea what to do here. how do you go about making a swap? who can swap? where do i sign up? are there restrictions or things you would recommend a swapper not do? what does ATC mean? so many questions, so little time...
(sorry if this is the wrong place to post this. like i said, i have no idea what to do!)
i'm in desperate need fo a jewelry box. as of now, i'm keeping all of my jewelry in a small plastic box that i painted black. i was going to add some embelishments to it, but i've realized it's entirely too small for all of my jewelry. and since i'm a broke college kid, i don't have the money to spend on a new jewelry box.
any ideas on how i could make one? bear in mind that i'm not great with tools, lol.
my grandmother (who is very into card-making) bought me a few basic supplies to make my own cards as a surprise when she found out i was getting into crafting, too. and what better way to thank her than with a home-made card?
i found this gorgeous paper (actually, i tore it out from the inside of an old journal i had) that has fairies on one side, and irridescent-gold on the other side (these pictures do not do it justice!). i added a few gold stars, cut out some letters from another piece of the same paper, and came up with a simple, elementary-school style card.
i wish i'd taken a before picture of this thing... so ugly. it had a picture of a lighthouse on the front. (i got it from a teacher in a secret pal program i did in highschool). so i took some black tape, an old cd sleeve, some purple paper and letter stickers and voila!
