not only did i make one like this for myself after seeing this post, but i also made some with pictures of my newborn niece on them for her grandmas. they're precious, if i do say so myself. great idea!
haha this wasn't exactly a book store... i got it at ross. i donno if they have that store wherever yall are from, but it's kinda like closeout shopping - cheap stuff, even cheaper service. but it turned out very nicely, and i still have a whole bookful of black & white beatles pictures. i'm trying to think of new projects to use them for already!
for christmas, i made a beatles-obsessed friend of mine "beatles in a box" - including beatles marble magnets, a photoshopped picture of her with the beatles, and a very large beatles coffee table book. but, since she seems to have EVERYTHING that was ever made about the beatles, she already had the book. i tried returning it to get her something new (i wanted to stencil lyrics to 'penny lane' on some panties for her), but the evil store would not take it back.
but i did find a really cool photo storage, um, thing. it was a small, bright green set of drawers with photo pages inside it. so, since i was stuck with a huge photo book of the beatles, it was collage time. here's what i ended up with:
it doesn't sound like you have many right now, but if you run across some more you're willing to cut up (or could find some neat ones at salvation army or something), you oculd make a t-shirt blanket. just cut the tshirts into squares and sew together checkerboard-quilt-style. and if you look at wallmart, they always have neat what-the-hell-would-anyone-want-this-for fabric for like $1/yd that could make a neat backing.
there are plenty of kick ass bag/purse patterns on here too, you might wanna take a look at some. t-shirt skirt? t-shirt panties? throw pillows? they can be used for fabric for pretty much anything, like an ipod/nintendo/cellphone/calculator cozy. keep browsing craftster, there are tons of cool ideas around here.
