So my friend is getting married in October, and she has enlisted my help with making things for the wedding.  I would like to make her a personalized aisle runner, but the runners that I've seen in the store are CRAP!  They're this ugly plasticky tablecloth poly stuff that I know I'm going to get my heels stuck in.  I'm obviously looking for a fabric one, but with that comes price.  Anyone have experience with making one from scratch?  I'm thinking I could just buy some cheap-o flat sheets and sew them together, but then there would be seams.  I guess they wouldn't be that noticeable...  Any suggestions that won't break the bank (I'm thinking this will PROBABLY be the only time she uses the runner  )?

Oh... I'm horrible at checking my own posts and didn't realize I'm a total jerk and didn't clarify some questions!  I made the buttons with a 1" button maker (yay e-bay!).  The "I wonder if people suspect that I'm a wolf" is from the Lonely Island song "Zanzabar" (kickin it ol' skool tli) and the silf one is actually a shirt from Busted Tees, just as an homage to how Andy <3's sandwiches!

So I've been playing the Legend of Zelda: Phantom Hourglass for forever long.  Over the Christmas break I decided it was time that I was going to beat it.  So when you beat the game (and briefly when you start it), it shows these incredible pictures of the characters in the game that are cutout shapes, kinda like a glorified South Park.  I thought they were so wonderful and I wanted to make some sort of project reflecting that.  So what better to portray than a picture of my furry son.  I used felt because I knew it would give me the layered look I wanted, it wouldn't fray, and it would be super-cheap.  I did all the details using embroidery floss.  I'm pretty pleased with how it came out.  Not perfect, but kinda childlike and pretty damn cute.

omigosh! i am totally in love with resin bangles and now this post has me wanting to make my own!  although, if it's a pain in the crapper, i can foresee a freakout.  gorgeous work though! L-O-V-E love it!

it never ceases to amaze me all of the wonderful things you can translate pixelated characters to.  i'm definitely going to have to try this one.  awesome job!

Ahaha amazing! I also have a secret crush on Andy! He is amazing. Also, I have never thought of going into Walmart's little boys section for shirts. Genius!

I stumbled upon this by accident.  A while back, I saw a cute hoodie in the boys' department in some store, and I was like... "I could fit into that..."  The fit is actually better (sometimes shirts are a little short) and it's cheaper!  Happy to pass along the tip!

So I absolutely adore all the Lonely Island doods, but I have a special place in my heart for dorky jews with shaggy hair.  After looking at all of the wonderful stencils people had made on this site, I decided to attempt my first of the always funny, Mr. Samberg.  I got the shirt at Wal-mart in the little boys department for 5.88 and some fabric paint for 77 cents.  I used a foam roller to put the paint on.  Spray adhesive was definitely my best friend during the process.  With all that shaggy hair to cover, I didn't have any problems with bleeding (MMM, what'd you saaaaaay.. for anyone who saw the "Dear Sister" digital short last weekend).

and because I am obsessive compulsive/emo/a loser, I needed buttons to put on my pants/jacket to match when I wear the shirt. (Went a little overboard with these...)
