2  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Alice in Craftsterland Swap - 1 Angel FOUND! on: March 29, 2009 09:39:42 PM
This time, it's for me. My partner sent, twice! But somewhere along the way, someone/customs took EVERYTHING she made. Sad

I'd hate to have her send AGAIN so I've gotten approval for getting an angel.

We did a 10 point swap, which needs to be at least one large, or two mediums, the rest of points can be whatever.

Here's my questionnaire:

Would like to make or receive an "altered" version of Alice? If so, what kind? (i.e. gothic, futuristic, etc): I would like to see a steampunk version of Alice and her world! victorian sci-fi, oh yeah!

Crafts or items that you would like to make: pretty much anything sewn, crocheted, decopauged, or painted
Crafts or items that you would like to receive: I love "useful" items, or fun accessories (I don't wear much jewelry, but I love sturdy necklaces and wrist wear), or wall art
Favorite colors: In the right application, I like almost any color, but my favorite are rich earthy colors, I like brown as long as it's rich (like espresso or dark chocolate)
Least favorite colors: neon colors, "puke" or "poop" colors lol
Specific motifs or design styles that you like (i.e. modern, Victorian, Japanese, etc.): victorian/steam-punk, wabi-sabi, "earth mama" organic naturey, rustically girly, if that makes sense lol!

Do you have a wist or website that you would like to show your partner? Please list the links here:
loads! check my profile, I have several Smiley

Details of Swap:

It's all about birds!
This swap was greatly inspired by Creative Kismet. Thank you!

Like the originator of this idea, I love the idea of collecting handcrafted birds to display around my house. My ideal solution for this is to have all sorts of birds from all sorts of places in all sorts of mediums. This gives each person all the room they need to be CREATIVE! Cheesy

This swap will be a group swap with handmade birds, in any medium (paper, felt, glass, ANYTHING!), traded among friends. Each bird should be roughly the size of the palm of your hand (roughly 4x6) and can be two- or three-dimensional.

The group aspect comes in because we will be split into groups and you will make ONE BIRD for EVERY PERSON in your group. So if you have 5 people in your group, you will make and send 5 birds by the send date.

You may choose to send to ONE group of 5 people or to TWO groups (10 birds total). Please specify in the questionnaire.

This IS an international swap so please bear that in mind when crafting your birds as you probably don't want to make them solid steel or anything. Wink

Before sending, please take a picture of your birds and email it to the organizer (handmadebirds@gmail.com) to confirm that you are ready to send. Only when ALL members of YOUR group have done so should you send the birds out.

Rules:

Please put "HANDMADE BIRDS" in the title of all pms.

ETA: This swap may entail you sending a bird or two internationally. If you cannot send internationally even a few ounces, please do not sign up for this swap. Thank you!

IMPORTANT: Do not send your birds until everyone in your group is "green-lighted". All participants must check in at least once a week, by pm or by posting in this thread.

If your partner is within the US, you MUST get a DC and pm it to the organizer and your partner.

NOTE: Feedback will ONLY be given after you send, receive, and post pictures of what you received. If you do not have a camera, please make arrangements with your partner so they can take pictures before they send.

To participate, and to indicate you've read the rules, pm the questionnaire and put the word RADIO somewhere in the message.

To be approved, the questionnaire must be completely filled out (unless you don't have any wists/websites, of course).

Goldfishgirl has been super patient; her partner was going to send late but then never sent at all! Sad

She crafted a TEN POINT package, which should have at least one large or two mediums. If you could send within a month, that would be great! But if you need more time, that works too. Cheesy

She lives in the US, has no allergies:

6  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / RENAMED: Crafty Pen Pal (Long-term Getting to Know You Swap with a dash of IYP) on: February 16, 2009 10:36:26 AM
I just think it would be fun to have a monthly swap (or bi-monthly or quarterly) swap where we are partnered with the same person each time. We could take the opportunity to really get to know the person we're crafting for!

Each swap could be for just one medium, and an extras we choose to send.

If one month or or both partners can't participate, then they just sign up again next time!

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / New Bird Swap! on: January 29, 2009 05:01:37 PM
I saw a wonderful idea on a blog, Creative Kismet to be precise, about swapping handmade birds.

This is slightly different than other bird swaps here.

For this one, each person will make a bird for each person in the swap!

So if there are 10 people in the swap, each person makes 10 and receives 10!

These birds must be at least 3" tall and up to 5" tall and made from any medium. Paper, fabric, clay, yarn, etc. Length of swap time will depend on how many show interest. If it's just 5 people, then it'll probably just be a 3 week swap, but if 20... then more like 6 weeks lol

Would anyone else be interested?

I'd like to start this in the spring. Smiley
10  Calls for Swap Angels / Swap Angel Archive / Alice in Craftsterland Swap - 3 Found on: January 28, 2009 09:37:55 PM
I need three angels, sadly. Each of these ladies sent out 10 point packages, with at least 1 large/2 mediums. They worked really hard, so please angel for them!

Since it is a larger swap, Angels will have 7 weeks to craft. Smiley
