1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Re: Rainbow Patchwork Skirt on: September 26, 2009 09:25:26 AM
I hope I'm not too late on the compliment bandwagon.

Listen, do you see the look on your friend's face? Do you see the joy those pictures? Your skirt is happiness! It's fun to look at, to examine. It brought a serious grin to my face when I saw it. It's perfect and wonderful, and IT BRINGS HAPPINESS AND JOY!!

All naysayers aside, this is a treasure to see. It's laughter and it's brightness. Don't let anyone ever tell you otherwise!
2  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Re: Obamigurumi on: June 15, 2009 07:17:45 PM
Wow, awesome!  You have to write out the pattern whether for free or sale.  People would love this one!  I am Canadian by the way and I am absolutely loving President Obama!

Cora

Careful about selling it; I don't know what the laws are when it comes to profiting from someone's likeness, especially when said likeness is the current President.

THAT aside, I love this!!
3  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Black Cat Eve Sprite on: May 28, 2009 06:53:19 AM
I love this! Sprites are soo adorable and I've been wanting to try cross stitching some, but how do you go from sprite to cross stitch pattern? I'm desperate for a cross stitched Guan Yu sprite.
4  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing Machines: Discussion and Questions / Kenmore 1551 One-Step Buttonhole on: September 11, 2008 07:01:47 AM
I am having some problems figuring out the one step buttonholer on my Kenmore 385.1551 machine. It was a Craigslist find and came without a manual. Everything else works well, so I'm convinced that the problem is me.

I can get the buttonholer to go in a straight line, but It will not switch directions.

I am aware of the tabby thing that I need to pull down, but i'm not sure where it goes. The buttonhole foot that came with the machine when I bought it is the slider kind.

Any suggestions for what I may be doing wrong?

I'd rather not buy the manual because this is the only thing i'm having a problem with.

Thanks all,
Hars
5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Re: This Pendant has two speeds. Walk, and Kill. on: December 23, 2007 03:04:40 PM
Chuck Norris must trim his beard by repeatedly round housing himself in the face. Because the only thing strong enough to cut Chuck Norris is Chuck Norris.

LOVE the pendant!
6  FIBER ARTS / Spinning: Discussion and Questions / potential new spinner on: December 13, 2007 08:06:43 PM
hello!

if the stars align properly this winter, i'll be getting my hands on a spinning wheel. I'm thinking that the Ashford Kiwi would be the wheel for me. I've looked at the review that's in a Livejournal community. But I'd guess I'd like somemore opinions.

I've never spun before, so I'd like something that 1) I can learn to start on, as well as improve and experiment on. and 2) I'd like to keep it under $400.

So, given those two parameters:
1) could the Kiwi fit need #1?
if not, which wheels out there do you lovely experienced spinners feel that would fit both of those needs?

OH! also...I'm left handed. And pretty dominantly so. Dunno if that matters so much with all of the wheels...but...thought i'd throw that in there....

thank you all!
7  CROCHET / Projects from The Happy Hooker by Debbie Stoller / Go for Baroque pattern help on: September 27, 2007 05:53:42 PM
Y'all know how the binding of the book isn't exactly awsome? Well, I'm actually missing the page I need to finish the go for baroque sweater.

I'm not asking anyone to post the pattern, so much as tell me where on the sleeves I switch from the full pattern to the not full pattern. when you're doing the pattern stitch on the sleeves, which consists of 3 rounds, it switches to just being two of the three rounds (either rounds 1 and 2 or rounds 2 and 3) but I can't remember where to start doing this or what exactly to do.

i'm sooo close to being finished with this, so if someone could just let me know, I would be really appreciative.

thank you so much!

yeah, toledoans who move to seattle! yeah! even to those of us who just go and visit.

you could try finding some seamless patterns. ponchos and things like that. or just a basic sweater pattern with minimal assembly required.

granny squares area good idea too, i second that one.
