Mill End is close to me as well and I've drive by it many times but it looks so.....blah, that I've never gone in.  Thanks for the heads up!  I do go to S.R. Harris all the time, such a boon!

I haven't logged on here in ages but thought I'd pop back in and say HI! to Sarah, also from Robbinsdale. Smiley  I'm near the Memorial Parkway flagpole, one block from being across the street from Minneapolis.

My big brother is a fly fishing guide out in Montana on the Big Horn river, and my husband is getting more and more into fly fishing.  It's amazing.

What sort of soap do you craft?  I've been desperately wanting to learn how to make soap but I'm terrified to play with lye without learning how first.

As long as I'm here, I'll reintroduce myself - I'm Kate, I'll be 29 next month, and I mostly stitch, sew, cook, and make bath stuffs.  Hubby and I live in Robbinsdale with our golden retriever and our two chickens (mmm...fresh eggs).  My crafting has been on hold as I've had to take up a second job while my real estate gig isn't doing so well and I'm helping my parents out as Dad battles cancer this summer.

Life never stands still does it?  Ah well, crafting=sanity.  Smiley

Yea! I'll post all of my recipes tonight - I received from pansophia - and my work has already demolished an adorable box of homemade marshmellows  Kiss Mmm! They are fantastic!

I'm so glad everything arrived safe and sound!  I had a lot of fun making them. Smiley

Photos and recipes are on my laptop at home, and I'm out in Montana visiting my nephew.  I can post in a couple of days if necessary.

Hurray for cookies!!

I just received my cookies from cfbandit and YUM YUM is all I can say!

Marscapone Creams:

This is a great cookie, reminds my DH of Jammie Dodgers he misses from England.  (Granted this is the same DH who said "You're eating cookies from a stranger?  What if they are poisoned?"  He doesn't get any.)

Peppermint Palmiers:

The photo doesn't do them justice, I love the festive color and they taste great as well!

Thank you cfbandit!!!  This was exactly what I needed today Smiley
5  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: Knifty Knitter? on: November 07, 2007 10:38:28 AM
Okay, this may have been covered but I skimmed through the first twenty pages of the thread and couldn't handle 26 more!

I finally dug out my knifty knitters and have made a scarf (rectangle loom) and a baby hat (small round) already.  However, the knit on both is very loose weave.  Is there a recommended stitch for a tighter knit or is that just the nature of the knifty knitter?  I did the baby hat with two strands and it helped a bit, but not as much as I'd like.

Thanks!
6  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / My first embroidery - tea towels on: December 01, 2006 11:30:01 AM
I recently bought the Stitch-It kit when I stopped by my favorite local craft shop and signed up for an embroidery class at the same time.  I couldn't wait the two weeks until the class so I started with the kit right away!

The tea cup was done before class, the coffee/tea pot afterwards.  I'm still not thrilled with my stitching, I want it to be more even, but maybe I'm being too hard on myself.  I'm hoping to get a set of towels done for a Christmas present.

I had hoped to be a knitter by now but I just don't have the patience for it!  At least embroidery can get done in a night or two!

Now I'm working on the SS knife/spoon/fork pattern but am hoping to add a monogram to it to look like my mom's silver pattern.  Yay!

By the way, I just want to give big props to Sublime Stitching's customer service.  I totally blanked on the day of my class and had to buy all new supplies when I got there - meaning I bought a second copy of a pattern I had just ordered from the SS website.  I emailed them asking if I could swap it for something else and they were totally cool about it!  You guys rock!
7  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Christmas Music CD Swap Round 2 - gallery on: November 25, 2006 06:15:30 PM
I received my FABULOUS package yesterday - wow!  It's only my first swap but I think I'm hooked!!!

I liked the CD so much that it's at work so I don't have the playlist handy but the case was so cute!  The bow is stuck on and has velcro on the back to open the case.  I wouldn't have thought to do that in a million years but I love it!

Plus she made a mouse candy cane holder, a beautiful card, and an ornament.  I'm spoiled!

Funny story with the ornament - my husband is from England and had never seen the fuseable beads until he was photographing a friend's wedding at a park and he photographed a couple of beads that were just sitting on a bench.  I've tried since then to explain what they are but until he saw the ornament...it just didn't make sense to him!

Edited to add the playlist:
8  UNITED STATES / Minnesota / Crafty Planet Embroidery Class on: November 17, 2006 10:11:23 AM
I took the embroidery class at Crafty Planet last night (so much fun!) and told the other gals in class about Craftster.  I wanted to make a post so that if they come explore the crazy Craftster world, they will know they are in the right place!

9  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Re: My first sewing projects - needle roll and cosmetic bag on: November 03, 2006 10:06:58 PM
Thanks for all the good comments and hints!  It's scary posting projects for the first time.  I made a second bag with a different lining and it turned out better but I forgot to take pics.

Yarnia - I got the fabric at an awesome local store called Crafty Planet.  Their site is http://www.craftyplanet.com  That's where I took my sewing class, a knitting class, and I have an embroidery class coming up!  I like to do a little of everything!
