11  Funky paper bangle in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by sinisterbutterfli on: June 25, 2008 08:48:46 PM
I made this for my partner in a swap, who has finally received her package. The base was a wooden bangle, which was covered in strips of contrasting scrapbook paper and decoupaged.

The colors are darker in life and the contrast not quite as obvious. The subtle change is what makes the bracelet.

I finally got some new batteries for my stupid camera, and so I can finally post my package from mamaAnn. Yay!

First, all loot together...

She made me a felted bowl that my boyfriend promptly decided to wear as a hat. He's a strange man, but cute, so I'll keep him.

Closeups of the jewelry she sent me: a pink spiral charm bracelet, a charm, and a necklace with this incredibly awesome Mona Lisa pendant on it (my favorite thing out of the whole package).

I also received some crafty supplies. The round thing is stickers, there's a cupcake iron-on, and the box is to make those glass magnets.

The best thing was, when I opened up the magnet kit, inside was this little penguin like a prize in a cereal box. He's so cute! I love penguins  Cheesy

Here's the sorter box and crochet hook she sent. Can you ever have enough?

Last but not least is the bunch of super-fly bookmarks she made me, that are currently living in several books.

Thanks mamaAnn!

My partner's package is split, because of life issues getting her down lately (sick hubby, sick dog, poor thing). So she sent me her medium items, and they're all really great.

First, we have a space invaders potholder and a can/bottle cozy with potion bottles from Nintendo & Zelda. These are super awesome! I've been wanting one of these potholders for a while, and the cozy thing is just too cute. The above is the "A" side...

...and that's the "B" side.  Cheesy

She also sent me a "Jar of Whimsies" (though not technically a jar, it is full of whimsies). There's a ton of colorful feathers, some rocks, beads, tiny cards, clay, and more. It's all very cute. The feathers are trying to escape and make new homes around my house.

Thanks cinnamonteal! I can't wait to see the rest.

14  My first taggie blanket (for a gift) in Baby Showers And Gifts For New Babies by sinisterbutterfli on: May 27, 2008 04:29:14 PM
My godfather and his wife had a baby a couple of months ago, and I'm finally getting around to sending them their present. I am a horrible procrastinator. On the bright side, the baby is just getting to the point where he likes to lay on his belly and wiggle, so it's the perfect time for a taggie blanket.

Both the parents are disney freaks, so the top is this adorable Mickey Mouse print. My godfather is also a huge hockey fan (he and my dad played on their college team together) so I added some little hockey ribbons as a shared interest kind of thing. I'm sure the baby will have skates by the time he's 3 years old.

The top is cotton and the bottom is fleece. It's very squishy & soft. I'm really pleased with how it came out, though it took FOREVER to arrange the ribbons how I wanted them. The only problem is that the X in the middle to "quilt" the blanket is off center (because I was incapable to sewing in a straight line that day).

For my first taggie, I'm pretty happy with it  Cheesy

My package #2 from cinnamonteal arrived yesterday, and it's super awesome. I can't wait to play with the yarn and take my new shopping bag out for a test drive!

First, my big thing for this package was my knitting kit, complete with awesome needle roll in fabric that just screams "me". Plus she got some great yarn and other doo-dads to help me learn.

She also made me some cool double-sided bookmarks, which I need since I read way too much. I must endeavor not to lose these ones, as I have a habit of misplacing bookmarks.

Also included was a dice bag (complete with pink dice) for all of my nerdy adventures.

Finally, there was a reusable shopping tote made out of sweet vintage Indian fabric (because I'm a hippie). I've been meaning to make some of these myself, but never got around to it, so this is majorly awesome.

I have the bestest partner  Cheesy

I got my package from iloveoctopus! Cute jewelry.... wheeeeee! I love the earrings & bracelet set she sent me. I love polymer clay charm jewelry, but I just don't have the time right now to really learn how to do it right (i just sort of dabble/experiment). But these are so neat!

Thank you so much!

Ok, finally getting my pictures up. I hate being sick... Cry

Anywho, here's the fab box that cinnamonteal sent me for our first round. I opened it to find numerous numbered packages (no puppy to open mine, sadly)

First, after her letter, I got me some postcards. One's from her hometown, Santa Barbara, and 2 others are cool vintage ones. I actually collect postcards so the vintage ones are pretty neato.

Her photos were "artsy" photos, rather than pics of herself & her family, so here they are. I really dig the one with the trees. It kind of looks like it should be on a poster with some kind of motivational saying on it.

She sent me a bunch of cool cards, some of which were from her collection and some of which she made. I can't decide if my favorite are the B-movie spider ones or the pink-and-black skeleton type ones (ya, that's a pink and black Jack Skellington - it's fly).

For her show & tell items she sent me her favorite candy (sour patch watermelons), her favorite recipes, a sketchbook (because she draws), a knit washcloth that she made, and an apron for cooking (one of her favorite things to do).

No action shot for the apron, because I look really bad right now from being sick...

Last, but not least, for my random other goodies I got a giant petal pincushion made with Indian fabric. I LOVE Indian things, and I think it's hilarious that we both sent each other the same pincushion. I also got a tie on rainbow headband made out of super soft yarn, the Jack Skellington stamp she used to make the card, some ribbon that looks like measuring tape, a knit ring she made, and some Jelly Bellies from the factory by her house.

I love everything, thank you cinnamonteal!

I got my package from CKChan! We did $10 packages. She made me a bunch of wonderful goodies off my Wist, and a bunch of other things too.

I opened my box to this...

She made me a happy amigurumi octopus, who shall be called Squishy (and he shall be mine).

I also got these arm warmers that I've wanted soooo bad forever (I don't knit, but I've been trying to learn). Here's the action shot:

Also, I got one of these awesome star blankets.

And some earrings...

Finally, these AWESOME stitch markers with Nintendo themed pictures on them (I love the little question mark box one).

CkChan managed to do a ton on $10. Thanks for everything!

I got my package from DesignVigilante. She sent me a ton of stuff!

First, a cute hat, some stitch markers with letters for what hook I'm using, and a little pink amigurumi dude who's super cute.

Next, she started making me a pouch but didn't have a zipper, so she sent me the pouch and lining (you can't see the fabric very well, but it's this great Asian paperdoll print).

Last, she sent me a bunch of amigurumi patterns and yarn to make them with, along with polyfil and embroidery floss for details.

Thanks so much! I'm glad you liked your package as well.

I got my package from RondaS yesterday! She spoiled me horribly  Grin

She packed everything is a basket all treatsie-like...

She made me a ton of little amigurumi sweets. Cupcakes, a bunch of Little Debbie stuff, some oreos... all made in my favorite colors (black & pink).

I also got a little crocheted bag, and inside was a necklace with cotton candy pink beads and skulls (so fab).

And last is my personal favorite, this hand sewn towel with cute things embroidered on it. It's soooo adorable. There's something different on each corner & each side. They're so sweet, and it's making me wish I could embroider at all.

RondaS also included some chocolate strawberry hearts, but I kind of ate them before I took pictures  Tongue

Thank you so much RondaS! Everything is splendid.
