1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: How does everyone make their sites? on: January 26, 2007 01:25:20 PM
I taught myself html years ago, a good resource is http://www.webmonkey.com
(surprised no one's mentioned that) They even have an HTML cheatsheet that's a good quick reference.
Now I make sites using flash and some html, (mostly flash though) and I'm working on integrating a shopping cart into my business site. (A really good one is http://www.bigcartel.com) its free and super easy. yay!

I don't have any name ideas but I'd love to participate! I am starting my own confectionary company, selling boxed chocolates and other sweets. I'm in Dallas, TX and have relatives in Houston (so I could easily drive down to the show). If you have a vendor mailing list (for show updates, applications etc.) please keep me posted.

3  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / candy shop business name ideas on: December 05, 2006 08:53:26 AM
I want to start my own sweets shop (probably starting off working out of my house) and I'm just not liking the names that I'm coming up with. I'll be selling mostly boxed candy but also some baked goods as well, brownie's muffin's, etc and also specialty cakes. I will probably start of with the candy though b/c it will be easiest to make ahead and bring to craft shows and what not. I really like the whole 50s housewife, homemade goodies, mid century modern retro kind of feel for the business. So far the only name I've come up with are "sweets" and "something sweet". Pretty lame huh?
Also the candy will be gift boxed, I'll probably buy plain white boxes and dress them up with a sticker label and ribbon/tissue.
Any suggestions at all will be much appreciated.
Thanks
-Sylvia

anyone? hello?

I bet you could do just about the same thing with regular 3 ring binder, some clear page covers and tab dividers. You'd have to mount the binder to the wall somehow. You would probably need to put some card stock or thick paper in the page protectors to keep them from flopping though.
6  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / ?? Fiberglass / 50s Lamp shades ?? on: September 20, 2006 09:51:45 AM
I've got this great jaguar lamp from the fifties and it desperately needs a cool lamp shade. I know there are several places that make custom shades online, but I was really looking to do it myself. Any ideas?

Here's what I'm shooting for... (maybe a different color / shape)
