2  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: My Country Doesn't Have That Round 8- Ongoing (March 26- April 27) on: April 14, 2007 12:09:11 PM
I claim knit_north for a box full of surprises! Lots of stuff from your list.

I would welcome surprises from anywhere! This is my first claim. I am new to ongoing swaps. I live in Indiana.

I make must of my clothes and have a thing for pattern magazines, especially Japanese ones. I already get Burda and Patrones but I don't have any Russian Burda magazines. I would love odd fabrics, old patterns, trims, buttons, etc.

I also have a serious thing for candy, especially wine gums and dark chocolate. I also love foreign language books and cooking magazines from all over. Particularly fond of Australian and British cooking mags. I would also love a set of metric measuring cups and spoons (conversions aren't always easy!)

Need more ideas?? Just ask or check my wist.

Thanks in advance!! Grin

So, of course I had to try one of the recipes right away, and here is the final picture, of the Guiness cake.

Is that Guiness as in the BEER?....Guiness is my favorite...next to Murphy's...Could I beg (ever so sweetly) for you to post this recipe?... Wink

Yes as in beer!

Cake:
1 C guiness                                              Topping:
1 stick + 2 Tbls. butter                                 8oz. cream cheese
3/4 C unsweetened cocoa                             1 1/4 C confectioners sugar
2 C sugar                                                    1/2 C heavy Cream
3/4 C sour cream
2 eggs
1 Tbls vanilla
2 C flour
2 1/2 tsp baking soda

Heat oven to 350 and butter 9" springform
Pour guiness and butter (cut up) into saucepan and heat until butter melts, remove from heat. whisk in cocoa and sugar. In a seperate bowl whip sour cream eggs and vanilla together and pour into beer mixture. whisk in flour and baking soda.
Pour batter into pan and bake 45 mins to 1 hour.(closer to an hour usually for me) This will be a very damp cake!
Let cake get completely cold before topping. Lightly whip cream cheese til smooth, sift in confectioners sugar and beat (you can do this in a food processor) Add cream and beat again until spreadable. Ice only the top of the cake so it looks like a frothy pint! Grin

I just finished my latest project. I fell in love with this fabric. I think it makes a fab shirt!I'm especially proud of the lace and pintuck front with it being below zero here, I won't be wearing it anytime soon. But I have a head start on spring, right? Wink

I received from dontlookback today and now I know why she said she couldn't wait for me to get her box that it would be a "hoot"

That's right craftsters we made each other fortune cookies Grin To be fair they were in my wist list and funny enough she approached the task with entirely different materials. I love it that we both did that! She also sent me a CD, an assortment of tea, a pencil cup that is already in use and one of her great mixed paper journals!! I've been staring at her journals on etsy,  so I'm thrilled she sent me one. Thanks so much Christina!!
