1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / -Inspiration Board From Old Picture Frame- on: June 15, 2008 01:00:07 AM
Hi! Wink

I made this inspiration board from an old picture frame I had. I made it by cutting a piece of cardboard the same size as the glass in the frame. I then wrapped the cardboard in fabric and stapled the back. I slid the fabric covered cardboard into the frame, put the backing of the frame back on, and voila! The pins stick straight into the cardboard.

Here it is with all my magazine cuttings and inspirations;

And here it is just by itself;

Do you like it? Let me know...

Thanks!!!

2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Handmade Christmas Bon Bons!!!!!!! TUT ON PAGE 3!!! on: December 15, 2007 12:53:08 AM
Hi!  Cheesy

I made these Christmas bon bons for me and my family a few days ago. They took ages to make, because I actually cut out all the cardboard for the outside of the bon bons myself. I used toilet rolls, and I covered them in coloured cardboard, tied them up with ribbon and stuck Christmas paper on the outside. They also have snaps inside then so they bang when you pull them.

Here is what I put inside the bon bons

1 hat
1 joke & quote
1 party popper
1 chocolate

I made ten in total

Here are the pics

What do you think?Huh Comments appreciated.

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Completed Projects / My Purple Themed Bedroom! YAY!! with Sheer Purple Curtains & Accents (pic heavy) on: December 03, 2007 07:09:58 PM
Here is my bedroom!!!!

Before we moved into the house, my room was pink with really ugly floral wallpaper and lace curtains. YUCK!!!

So after lots of painting (by my dad, who painted the whole house yellow), and ripping down of wallpaper, and new carpet, the room was at last acceptable. So all I had to do then was decide how to arrange all my furniture and things and then put them all in.

Firstly, here a view from the top, so you know how it all works

As you will see, I decided on a purple them. In case you haven't noticed, purple is my favourite colour. Me and my mum painted the bed frame purple, and I bought the purple sheet set from my Christmas money. The shelves, desk, drawers and wardrobes are all from Ikea.  That weird silver jewellery stand thingy that's on the side of the shelves, my mum found in the bargain basement at Ikea for $15. It is so useful for hanging all sorts of stuff. I also use it as a sort of dressing table, because it has a mirror attached to it. I also have a bigger full body mirror on the back of my door.

Here is a pic of the view from the door

The blanket that my cat is sleeping on was a present from my nan. The fairy lights wrapped around the jewellery hanger/stand thing were made by me. The curtains I made by getting white curtains and sheer purple curtains and ironing them together with hemming tape. I don't think you can see, but the purple layer has little flower details on it. Oh, and they're also from Ikea.  Wink

Here is the view from the corner near the window

See those magazine holders on the shelves? I plan on decoupaging them with pics from fashion magazines one day. One day.....

This is the view from the opposite wall of the wardrobes

I keep all of my cds and favourite books in those long skinny shelves next to the wardrobes.

Here is the bed

What do you think?Huh I love it!!!

4  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / SIMPLE & YUMMY Mediterranean fish!!!!!! on: December 03, 2007 06:04:05 PM
This is a really easy recipe that only takes about 20 mins to make and it is sooooo YUM!!!!! It's also really, really healthy. I came up with it after trying heaps of different combinations and I finally found this one, which I thought was perfect.

Ok, so here it is;

(This recipe serves 4, so adjust it for how many people you want to make it for.)

Ingredients;
4 fresh white fish fillets
1 red capsicum
1 yellow capsicum
2 zucchini
1 red onion
1/2 a cup of kalamata olives
1/2 a cup of lemon juice
olive oil

Method;
Seed and cut the red and yellow capsicums into thick wedges. Slice the zucchini diagonally and slice the onion into rings. Put all of this in a bowl with half the lemon juice and a splash of olive oil and toss to coat. Heat a grill pan (If you don't have a grill pan a normal frypan is fine) to medium/high heat and place all the vegetables in it. Cook until the vegies are slightly charred on both sides. Empty back into the bowl and add the olives. Heat the pan again and put some more olive oil in to coat the base. Add the fish to the pan and cook until brown on both sides and cooked through. Serve with the vegetables and lemon wedges.

DELICIOUS!!!

5  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / The YUMMIEST & HEALTHIEST Thai Fish Cakes EVER!!!!! on: December 02, 2007 11:59:49 PM
Here is one of my favourite recipes to make because it is really easy and quick to make and it tastes really really awesome!!!! I sort of made it up as I was going along one time when I was bored.

Ok, so here is the recipe

Ingredients;
400g of pink salmon, drained (14 ounces)
2 tablespoons of green curry paste
1/4 of a cup of peas
2 eggs, whisked
1/2 a cup of chopped parsley
about 1/4 to 1/2 a cup of flour
pinch of salt
1 tablespoon of olive oil

(I'm in Australia, so I only think in cups and grams, but here is a good chart for converting things;
http://www.peteducation.com/category_summary.cfm?cls=0&Cat=1305)

Method:
Mash the salmon with a fork. Mix in all the other ingredients except the olive oil. (Mix in enough flour so that the mixture is thick enough to make into firm patties) Make the mixture into patties with your hand and grill them in the oil in a frypan until they are brown on both sides.
Serve with a salad.

Here is a pic

I really recommend trying these, because they taste really good, and they're so easy!!!!

6  Archive of Past Craftster Challenge Entries / CHALLENGE 21 ENTRIES / Amazingly Incredibly Awesome Monopoly Outfit!!!! Dress & Purse & Necklace!!!!! on: October 01, 2007 06:06:32 PM
Hi. Grin

This is the first challenge I've ever entered. When I saw it, I thought "Wow! What an awesome idea!!!" So I got cracking!!!!!

So I made a dress out of monopoly money!!! It was a lot of work, but I think it was worth it!!!

I started by spreading out a big sheet of contact. I then carefully stuck the colourful side of the monopoly money onto the contact. I ended up with a big sheet of monopoly money 'fabric'.

Then, I made a corset pattern to fit me. I cut out the pieces from the monopoly money 'fabric' and sewed them together.

Here are some pics of what it looked like at this stage

I then took a long time (a seriously long time) making strips of monopoly money with more contact.

Then I sewed all the strips, plus the lining i'd made out of plain white cotton, onto the corset part of the dress. Lastly, I put bias binding on the top, and sewed little tabs onto the back for the ribbon.

I made the purse basically the same way I made the dress, with more contact!!! The necklace is made with rolled up monopoly money and the car piece.

Ok, onto the pics!!!!

What do you think??? My mum thinks it's a bit inappropriate for a 14 year old to be wearing, but it's a costume!!! It's not like I'm going to wear it to school or anything....  Tongue

I hope you guys like it!!!! Tell me what you think!!!!  Grin Grin Grin

And don't forget to vote between the 6th and 12th!!!!  Smiley

7  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / New School Bag!!!! Red + Pink w/ Embroidered pheonix bird thingy!!!! on: August 03, 2007 03:50:23 PM
Here is my latest creation. My old school bag had gotten really dirty, so I decided to make a new one!

The fabric on the outside is red callico and the inside is pink cotton leftover from another bag I made. It closes with velcro and it has two pockets on the inside and pen holders and another pocket on the outside. Plus, it has a drink bottle holder on the side!!!! Grin

Here are the pics

(btw, it's meant to be frayed like that!)

9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / My First Ever Hat!!!! Reversible with sort-of houndstooth fabric....pic large on: May 31, 2007 12:35:23 AM
Hi Smiley

This is my first post in a while, since I've been really busy lately (still making things but not getting any time to take pics of them), but hopefully I'll get some free time soon and photograph alll the stuff I've made this year!!!

Oh, and I'm 14 now!!! Smiley Smiley Smiley

So I got this really awesome fabric from the thrift store for $1. It's sort-of houndstooth, but not really. It just seems like the closest description. I've never made a hat before, so I decided to try it! I just sort of made it up a I went along. It's basically 8 triangles sewn together with darts, sewn onto a head- band with a peak. There is plastic in the peak and it has a hand made button on the top. The inside fabric is beige linen.

Anyway!!!!! Here are the pics.

Thanks for looking!!! Feedback welcome!!! Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / 2 Recon Tops, A Skirt & Dress!!(Image fat) TUTORIAL: HOW TO MAKE SLEEVES PAGE 2! on: March 01, 2007 07:05:56 PM
So here is some of the stuff I've made over the last week or so.

This one is my absolute fave!!!! I love it sooo much, I've already worn it twice. It is made from an old grey t-shirt and an old pink t-shirt. I'm thinking about putting a pocket on the front, but I'm not sure.

This one is another t-shirt recon. It is made from and old black t-shirt which was enormous, and a pink t-shirt which was too small. I love the print on the front. It's not completely finished though, I'm going to add a strip of the pink fabric to the neckline (If that makes sense?!?)

Here is a skirt that I made from an old bedsheet. I found it at a thrift shop and thought the pattern was really cool, so I bought it and turned it into this!

This pink dress I didn't do a whole lot to. I really loved the fabric but it was just a little bit too short for a 13 yr old to wear out!!!! So I added the pink tule at the bottom and now it's super cute!!!!!

Comments/suggestions always appreciated. Please tell me what you think!!! Cheesy
