1  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / LP Clock on: May 25, 2007 02:34:56 PM
I had to make a handmade gift for a final in my art class and this is what I came up with. The things on the sides are little picture holders. Just put a corner of the picture under the ribbons.

And because I don't want to start a totally new topic, here is the first clock I ever made for my friend's B-day.

3  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Fly Away ATC on: December 01, 2006 06:16:26 PM
I made this to fit inside a frame I made for the Birds Are Beautiful swap going on right now here--->http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=131145.100

The base is manila envelope, the image in the middle is brown paper bag with newsprint and all the paint is acrylics.
4  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Paintings on: November 25, 2006 08:32:48 AM
Just some paintings I did semi-recently. Paintings are in acrylic medium.

Inspiration drawn from the cover of the October Sky novel; the colors are much more brilliant in life. Dimensions are about 12x8"

From a picture taken when I was little at my second birthday party; it was my first kiss. Dimensions are about 3x2.5'
5  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / Inside/Outside Portfolio Assignment on: October 24, 2006 12:21:33 PM
In my portfolio class we just got assigned to do something, in any media, containing inside and outside.
Anything containing those ideas goes.
I have to have six sketches and all I can think of are four without stealing a friend's idea.
Mine are:
1)a graveyard, focusing on one stone in particular, with a hand shooting up out of the dirt.
2)A group of people all standing under umbrellas, faces hidden, in the rain.
3)A tree branch and other such foliage coming out through a mirror in a bathroom
4)A camel walking into a circus tent
I know the guidelines are vague, but that's the point of the assignment, to be creative as possible in solving the problem.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Even suggestions about the ones already posted would help.
6  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Revamped cardboard, newspaper, and wood on: October 10, 2006 02:20:15 PM
I get bored a lot and also am an impulsive pack rat. Therefore, I have a lot of newspaper and cardboard laying my house.
A couple days a year I actually get off my butt and take care of the mess.

A picture frame I made for my friend from scratch using cardboard and newspaper.

A postcard I made for an AFI fanbook collection of Post Secret-like postcards. (Card is made from a manilla folder, newspaper brown paper bags makeup the parts where I wrote. Sorry the pictures for these are so bad but I can't take more because it's now out of the country)

An old shoe box I keep all my poetry in. The background is just a crappy closeup of the newspaper to show how I overlapped the pieces.

An old mini dresser (about 2.5' x2') that I covered in a Chinese newspaper I got at last years New Years Day celebration. I had painted on it with watercolor and perm. marker but didn't like it anymore so I covered it up. But since I used a water and glue mix to make the newspaper stick, some of the color leaked through. I kinda like how it turned out though.
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Pop Tabs on: October 08, 2006 02:25:30 PM
I've been collecting a bunch of these suckers for a couple years now and have amassed a couple thousand.
I'm not really sure what to do with them though.
I thought about making a lamp shade but I'm not sure if I would be able to manage it without using tons of glue and getting it all over the little buggers.

Any ideas?
