1  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / What's up with JoAnn Fabrics?? Store closings?? on: July 20, 2004 08:42:10 AM
I was reading through some of the threads. It looks like Joann Fabrics is closing in several areas around the country...I know there was a huge E.T.C. store that closed in Las Vegas a year or two ago, and now the one that is literally two minutes from my apartment here in El Paso is closing...what's up with that??? It's just that I get the coupons in the mail every couple of weeks or so...sniffle...this is going to cramp my crafting style!
2  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / 50s pulp fiction trinket box sooo sparkly!! on: July 17, 2004 03:42:25 PM
Ok. Sorry about the technical difficulties before. Ahem! So here are some pictures of my latest creations...I used unfinished wooden boxes and paper mache boxes that you can find at pretty much any craft store. You can print stuff off the computer, or use pulp fiction postcards that you like but have stuck in a box forever.
So here they are.
Basically, I painted the boxes first with black acrylic paint...let it dry. Then I put two coats of this Twinkles glitter paint. 1.99 at Hobby Lobby. Let it dry. Mod podged the images that I liked...let it dry. Then sprayed it with a clear gloss spray...you could use acrylic spray, or any sort of sealer spray...Looks really cool.

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / 50's pulp fiction trinket box on: July 12, 2004 12:18:22 PM
I made this out of one of those plain ol' unfinished wooden boxes. I think I got this box at Michael's for about $2. They have all kinds of wooden stuff that you can paint. So I chose to paint it black, then paint it with a glitter paint that's made specifically for Non-Fabric items...I got it at Hobby Lobby for 1.99 for a little tube. I was able to paint this, and another little box and still have plenty left over.
Hope you enjoy. I can post a tutorial, if you'd like.
