1  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Yoga Mat Bag, McCall's 4261 on: February 23, 2008 07:05:16 AM
I made my first bag - hooray. I actually had made a coat out of this royal blue wide whale corduroy, but it was huge and unlovely. Embarrassed  I decided to turn it into a mat bag to salvage something from the fabric. This is an easy pattern with good results possible in a couple hours or less. I made the strap from the same fabric and added ribbon trim to the pocket.
2  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Jenny in the "Street Fashion" feature in Lucky on: February 12, 2008 07:16:19 AM
Check out this month's Lucky, with Rachel Bilson on the cover, to see a great shot of Jenny in glam attire.
 Cool
3  CLOTHING / Sewing Pattern Reviews / Simplicity 3775 Gotta love it! on: February 06, 2008 07:06:26 PM
Everyone seems to love love love this pattern on Pattern Review, so I tried it. Turns out it is pretty easy and quite flattering. I think I'll make several more in different sleeve lengths. Wink

Comments and questions welcome.
4  CLOTHING / Designer Clothing Homage / Anthropologie Homage Skirt - Seafarer's Map on: January 13, 2008 01:15:06 PM
I'm not normally one for nautical clothing or nautical anything for that matter, but for some reason this Anthropologie skirt spoke to me.
http://www.anthropologie.com/anthro/catalog/productdetail.jsp?_dyncharset=ISO-8859-1&_dynSessConf=3251096640174079506&id=72803&parentid=APP_SKIRTS_PATTERNED&pushId=APP_SKIRTS_PATTERNED&popId=APP_SKIRTS&sortProperties=&navCount=5&navAction=poppush&fromCategoryPage=true&selectedProductSize=&selectedProductSize1=&color=prw
But I'm not paying $118 to indulge a whim.
I didn't want to copy it exactly, but rather take strong inspiration from it. This is what I came up with. Please comment! This is my first "knock off" project. It came in under $30 including fabrics, pattern and trims.

I did all the embroidery by hand as well.

5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / McCall's 5512 Hilary Duff Dress on: October 28, 2007 09:44:02 AM
Despite being named for Hilary Duff, a cute dress and fairly easy. What do you think?

Cool
6  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Simplicity 4020 View D - flash kimono top on: October 01, 2007 02:20:19 PM
This is a popular pattern and I can see why. Came together easily and I like the result. Used a stretch thermal knit from eBay.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Skulls and Roses Dress - M5379 View B on: September 23, 2007 02:35:32 PM
Loving this dress - I'm envisioning it for fall with a cardigan over, tights and boots, too!
The skull and roses fabric came from eBay. McCall's pattern is nice to work with... sexy, I think

Any feedback?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Green Retro Print Dress, Simplicity 3874 View A on: August 26, 2007 10:05:46 AM
I made this dress and love the way it turned it our with my $1 fabric. The zipper is a little wonky, but I've learned no one will notice. Only problem - the bottom is too snug. I might be able to wear it in about 10 pounds... D'oh! I will make it again though and just make the skirt a little bigger . Darned hips!
Feedback welcome. Thanks!

9  CLOTHING / Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects / Aussie Aussie Aussie! (Dress) on: August 04, 2007 01:14:00 PM
Here's my latest sun dress project. My boy is from Melbourne so it's an homage.

Comments? Anyone? Anyone?
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / New tunic top - McCall's M5465 on: July 29, 2007 08:11:11 AM
This is a new McCall's fall collection pattern. I think it turned out cute, although on  the picture I look enormous.  I made view C, but at the last minute decided it wanted to be a tunic with gathered sleeves, so I added elastic to the sleeves and didn't add the contrast band.
Fabric is thin stretch jersey with silver skulls and roses from eBay.
Comments welcome
