1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Girl's shrug - my first wearable! on: August 29, 2007 07:14:59 AM
(This is my first time posting with pictures... I hope I do it right...)

Since the air conditioning in church always froze my dear daughter in her pretty sleeveless dresses, I attempted to make her a little shrug to warm her shoulders and arms.  I found a simple pattern through a web search - http://flyinghooks.blogspot.com/2007/05/fo-girls-simple-openwork-shrug.html - and we bought two balls of Lion Brand Jiffy yarn on closeout from Michael's craft store.  The yarn has a whiteish, bluish tint, but there are flecks of green and pink in there, perfect to wear with almost all of her dresses.

And the results are here -

It's made my girl very happy, and I continue to be tickled to have successfully made something practical.
2  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Hand-carved stamps - My first project posting on: September 12, 2006 12:39:09 PM
As a long-time lurker who received much inspiration from the board, I had to share my latest project.

My family is into this hobby of letterboxing (http://www.letterboxing.org/), and it was time that we had our own unique stamps for stamping in the log books.  Since my husband has the habit of attracting rain, I've been signing the log book as "Scattered Showers" and decided to carve a set of weather-related stamps.

Here they are (I hope I link them right...) -

and stamped together in a log book

It wasn't as hard to do as I feared.  I'll probably be making more soon.
