Stitches has some grosgrain ribbon suitable for belts.  Here's a look at a few of them (all under $2.00 a yard):

The other good news is that I just placed an order for some great belt buckles too.  They should be in by the end of July!

There is also the Handmade Bazaar in Portland (http://www.handmadebazaar.org/).

If you do decide to put on a show here in the Seattle area, I would be happy to help you recruit vendors by posting flyers up at Stitches.

There are a couple World Beads stores (98 Virginia St, Seattle, WA 98101-1037 and 233 Broadway E, Seattle, WA 98102-5723) and one in Ballard on Leary by the Big 5 that I can't think of the name of right now.

Stitches is about 7 blocks up the hill from the Sheraton at 711 E Pike St.  We are a pretty cool fabric and yarn store in Capitol Hill.  Another plus is that Capitol Hill is a fun neighborhood with other great stuff like vintage clothing, good bars and resturants and cute clothing stores to check out.

Hopefully we'll see you in the store.

Stitches donated some supplies and raffle items for the kick-off party last Monday.  The party was pretty fun.  They had bands, shrinky-dink making, sock puppets, stenciling, decopage and more.  There is going to be another party at the end of the event for everyone to show off what they made/learned.

The DIY Academy put on by Zapp kicked of on Monday, June 6th.  What is the DIY Academy?  Here's some info from the catalog:

DIY Academy is a series of low cost workshops that will enrich your life and local Seattle culture through the do-it-yourself movement.  DIY is affirming, sustainable and really fun!...

You can find more information and a list of classes on their website at http://www.hugohouse.org/diy.  It looks like all the classes are only $5 each and include supplies!
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Re: NEED BEGINNING TAILORING,AND SEWING BOOKS??KNOW?? on: June 08, 2005 12:24:05 PM
My favorite sewing book is The Reader's Digest "New Complete Guide to Sewing."  The book is thick and describes sewing techniques very clearly.  I've been sewing for 20 years and still use it as a reference.

19  SEWING IN GENERAL / Sewing in General: Discussion and Questions / Re: Ouch!! I stepped on another pin!! on: June 08, 2005 11:49:41 AM
Early this year Collins came out with Glow-in-the-Dark Pins!  They're standard 1 1/2" .55mm pins with a glow in the dark top.  At night when you're done working you can turn off all the lights and any dropped pins with be glowing on the floor for you to easlily find and pick up.  We sell a box of 100 for $6.95 in our store.

Here's some more info on Stitches:

Located at 711 E Pike St, Stitches provides fashion fabric, notions, and yarn to designers, home sewers, and creative people throughout the Puget Sound area.

Every bolt of fabric, notion, and skein of yarn is hand picked by our buyers who are dedicated to the needs of our innovative clientele.  We have a large selection of silks and silk blends, including over 15 different brocade embroidery prints.  If youre looking for stretch vinyl for a sassy skirt or costume, were your place with 6 different colors.  Love vintage cotton prints?  Stitches has a great selection of 30s, 40s, and 50s style vintage prints.

No space in your small apartment to take on another project?  No sewing machine?  Dont know where to start?  No problem!  Take advantage of our project workspace where there are cutting tables and sewing machines available for you to use in our store.  Plus, our experienced staff is available for any questions you may have.  You can also attend our sewing, knitting, and crocheting classes.

In addition to the project workspace we also have a cozy area to hang out, work on projects, and meet with others.  Stitch n Bitch groups are welcome to meet in our store.  Just let us know and well make sure there are no other groups or classes at the time you want to meet.
