1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Oogie Boogie Hat on: March 31, 2015 04:08:33 PM
I'm posting this on behalf of my daughter who crocheted this Oogie Boogie hat for her best friend at Christmas. We couldn't find a pattern, so we modified a pattern with a similar shape, and I figured out a pattern for the eyes/mouth for her. I'm so proud of her. I just had to brag, and show off her work. She did a great job.

2  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Flower hat on: December 30, 2013 01:06:08 PM
I found a similar hat on Ravelry and decided to make up my own. You can change what color flower is on the hat to match baby's outfit.

3  CROCHET / Amigurumi: Completed Projects / Totoro on: December 29, 2013 04:45:18 PM
My Niece shares our love for Hayao Miyazaki's movies, So we got her My Neighbor Totoro for her Birthday. She loved the movie, so when I found a Totoro pattern on Ravelry, I had to make her a one for Christmas. Mae loves her new Totoro.

4  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby stocking and santa hat. on: December 29, 2013 04:36:58 PM
I crocheted this baby hat from scraps left over from the matching stocking. I thought it would be cute to take pictures of her in the stocking with a matching hat. Too bad I didn't do this sooner. They would have made a nice Christmas card. The Yarn is Lion Brand Homespun.

5  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / My TARDIS Pumpkin on: October 21, 2012 10:11:11 PM
My Pumpkin is bigger on the inside.  Smiley I saw this on Pinterest and had to make one myself. You can find the pattern here... http://platypus.livejournal.com/439667.html#cutid1

6  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / Messenger style fishing bag on: December 14, 2009 04:37:36 PM
My friend asked me to make this for him last summer. I told him that I didn't like to sew, because I wasn't very good at it. But he begged, so I eventually gave in and made him a fishing bag. He gave me the tackle boxes and I drafted it up...

It has a bottle holder on each end because he wanted a beer holder. He also asked for some fish bones on it. I even tried my hand at machine embrodery, and put his name on the inside. Needless to say, I procastonated, and he's getting it for Christmas. I hope he likes Ice fishing! Wink So what do you think? Was it worth the wait?

7  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / twilight pumpkin on: October 25, 2009 07:27:37 PM
This is my first year attempting "shading". That's where you shave away the pumpkin useing wood carving tools (which I already had, yeah!). I watched this video to help learn how.
http://www.pumpkinlady.com/Video1.htm
Last year, I posted my "Hitchickers Guide to the Galaxy" pumpkin, so this year I chose "Twilight" (maybe I'll do a different book theme every year?!) I copied the pattern from the cover of Twilight useing wax paper. I think it turned out really well for my first try. Unfortunately, I'm not much of a photographer, and the pictures really don't do it justice. It looks soooo much better in real life. I tried to carve "Twilight" backwards on the back, so the word "Twilight" would shine on the wall, but It doesn't show up right. I think I carved it too low or too high. I'm not sure. Only the top half of the word will show up. anyway, enough babble, here's my Twilight pumpkin" I hope yall like it even though my pics aren't that good.

8  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Vacation photos on: August 23, 2009 01:31:10 PM
We went to Flordia this summer. I thought I would share a couple photos that I think turned out pretty good. I took this at Wakulla Springs State Park. I really like how it turned out. It almost looks CG.

This was a picture I took at sunrise at our campsight.

9  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Discussion and Questions / can you anneal in your toaster over? on: August 09, 2009 11:08:08 AM
I saw this video on the internet...

Does this really work? could you also use a toaster over to anneal your lampwork beads?
10  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Burnt tree of life. on: February 07, 2009 07:36:54 AM
I couldn't find a better category to put this in, so I guess it goes here in miscellaneous projects. This tree is woodburnt. I colored it in with oil pencils, and then erased it so it would be more of a hue instead of bright colors (not that you can really tell, but I can). I wasn't going to add the color when I started, but I am really glad I did. I think it really adds something to the piece.
Notice it says 2009 at the bottom. My husband said it should say 2007-2009. Yes, I have been working on this off and on for quite some time. I would get it out and work on it up to the point where I was almost certifiably insane from the ridiculous amount detail, and then I would put it away for a few months to recuperate until I remembered it. Then I would pull it out again. This is very detailed. All of the tiny individual leaflets took forever. In fact, I think the very middle of the roots is too detailed. You have to get up really close to tell what it is. Despite that, I think it turned out great. This is my best woodburnt piece so far. I am very proud of it. It looks better in real life, and you can really see the texture of the bark. My husband said "Wow! It looks like real wood. Well it is wood, but you know what I mean, the trunk look very realistic." It may not look as good as it does in real life, But the picture is the best I could get. I hope you all like it.
