121  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Discussion and Questions / any ideas on what I can use apart from a canvas? on: December 16, 2006 03:28:40 PM
Okay, I've had this idea for my uncles christmas present, where I'm pasting the pages of a particular book onto a board of some sort, and stencilling a picture over the top.

I'm so totally broke this year as I quit my job, so does anybody have any Idea what I can use as a board to base it on?? I don't want to do it on paper as it'll look cheap, but I can't afford a proper canvas or expensive solid thing...

any ideas??

123  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / making and attaching a hood to a jacket on: December 13, 2006 09:38:02 AM
Hi, I'm currently making a short jacket out of fur and would like to add a wide hood for show. does anybody have any idea how to make one to the pattern I've used and how to attatch it??

here's the lining so you get a basic understanding of the jacket..

this is the back.. it won't really look this bad honest!  lol.

this is the front, the black doesnt exactly show where everything is, but basically I want the hood to be wide so it looks abit like a collar at the front, going into a hood at the back.. get me?! hehe...

thanx Cheesy xx

Huh basically I'm making this dress:

(that is my tulle thing)

What I want to know is, how do I line it.. (the skirt)? The lining is going to be the same fabric used for the actual skirt, but I just don't know how to go about it.. do I just cut 2 squares, then cut the circle out the middle and stitch them together... or is there a knack to it?? aarrgghh!!!

129  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / my 1920s inspired strapless dress, what do you think?? on: November 13, 2006 06:26:11 AM
okay, so this was just something i did last night, not my finished piece but I couldnt figure out the pattern so I just cut and stitched until it looked like this.

It's based on 1920s clothing, hence the handkerchief hem and low waist.

In my final peice, it'll be all one colour (cream) with a patterned trim (waist and top piece..)

What do you think??
