11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Discussion and Questions / what are the basics for making dolls with air dry clay? on: March 13, 2012 06:54:24 AM
Hallooo! I have done some searching around the forums and haven't found anything that I'm after!

Basically I 've bought a packet of air dry clay which I'm planning on *attempting* to make a doll with. What is the general protocol? Should I make a base for my doll out of tinfoil or paper/masking tape and mould the clay around it to speed up drying times and keep the doll lighter? And for the limbs is it best to use wire and mould the clay around it?

SOOOO CONFUSED!

Thanks for any help Cheesy
12  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / super cute awesome mappy-atlas tote on: February 28, 2012 01:48:09 AM
Ok ok ok, I saw this fabric in my local upholstery store. It's AH-MEZZIN. mappy-ness, I love maps and I haven't found any lovely thick map fabric anywhere so when I saw this I was like WOAAAAHHHHH got to have it! And then it sat in it's little bag waiting for the perfect project. Well. The perfect project hasn't come along yet (ideas welcome) but I had to make SOMETHING, so I knocked up a quick tote and stitched an old doiley to the front which acts as a pocket! I raken through my vintage button box and found two big buttons to stitch onto the base of the handles and tadahhhhhh! One super cute awesome mappy-atlas tote!

These amazing old atlas and stamp badges that bekibutton made for me will go perfectly with it!

13  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / sprucing up items to sell. Legality/copyright/etc on: February 21, 2012 03:30:51 AM
HELLOOOO lovely lovely people! I have done a few forum searches on this subject but nothing's really similar enough to give me a good enough answer to my question, so here goes.

When I was practicing my bookbinding skills, I bought a bunch of notebooks to bind into leather. And I want to know whether I can legally sell them or not?

The books themselves are paperback and have photos on the front and back covers and on the insides of the covers is the website for the notebooks (possibly seems like a similar brand to cath kidston) and the inside of the back cover has a copyright notice for the stationery company and information of the photographer who provided the images for the covers.

I don't plan on covering these notices up at all, but want to know if I can sell these legally? I would be listing them as re-bound notebooks, NOT as my own photography on the covers.. where do I stand?

Any help is MUCHLY appreciated! ♥
14  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / New book from meeeee complete with butterfly stencil! on: February 11, 2012 03:33:58 AM
Ahhh I love love this one SOOOOO MUCH! My uncle has this sheepskin laying around for about 20 years not being used and so gave it to me! Well, I made a book with some of it yesterday and I'm thrilled at the outcome. I also managed to get hold of some freezer paper (yey) and this stuff taken stencils perfectly Smiley

It's filled with gorgeous handmade cotton rag paper (found a fab local supplier - yey!) that I've torn down to size leaving the lovely deckle and hand torn edges for a rustic look which I love Smiley

What do you think?

15  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Completed Projects / first go at freezer paper stencils. BUTTERFLIES ♥ on: February 06, 2012 07:25:44 AM
Ok, this was my first go with freezer paper stencils so forgive me if it looks rubbish compared to everyone elses awesome stencils!
I live in the UK and have never found anything like this but managed to get some online.
I did this straight onto fabric so will probably make a tote or something else cool with it and I kept the cut outs and made a negative too - think I'll make an internal pocket with it Cheesy

How did I do?

16  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Made a new scrapbookywooky thing! on: January 29, 2012 01:08:29 PM

17  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / freebie business cards and postcards.. over 1000 of the silly things! on: December 01, 2011 02:35:25 AM
Hey guys, yes.. I went on an "OMG IT'S ALL FREE" binge at a well-known 'free' business card supplier who shall not be named and I now have, and I kid you not.. over 1000 business cards (and about another 500 postcards) that I don't need because I went and bought some decent ones from moo!

The useless ones have outdated email addresses and websites etc that I used at the time and have now condensed them all to one domain so I just don't need ALL that info on my cards so I don't want to hand them out anyway!

ANY ideas as to what I can do with them? the only thing I use the business cards for right now if wrapping strips of fabric and ribbons around for storage, and the same with the postcards and wide lace.. but seriously, the things are coming out of my ears over here.. there must be a use for them??
18  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Adventures in Bookbinding - Super cool reclaimed leather sketchbook for meeee! on: November 30, 2011 07:45:06 AM
OOOOOOOOkkk.. so I wrote out this huge post about my project and then craftster went and died on me when I clicked on 'post'..! So here it is again!

I literally finished this book this morning, bookbinding is definitely my new obsession!
It's made using reclaimed leather (i have about 3 bin bags FULL) and has 200 blank pages for me to scrawl all over! This was only my second attempt at a book like this, I've also made a bunch of those seriously cute mini book pendants which go down a storm! (I've posted a couple of pictures of my first attempt at the bottom of the post!) I'd LOVE to know what you think!

For anyone wanting to give it a go, this thread should help you out and I've added a few sites that helped me which you can find on page 4: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=174813.0

FYI, here's a photo of my first attempt. I tried this one without researching so it definitely could've been better! The thread I used was old crochet thread which snaps really easily (but I've used a nice strong linen for the newest one). The binding is also too loose on my first attempt but it really helped me figure things out! I love the pages too. coooooooool!

19  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Selling Crafts on Etsy.com / do you include your info/price labels on online sales? on: September 17, 2011 04:25:02 PM
Hey folks!

I was just curious to know whether you all include your price tags on your online orders when you ship them? I have been but am beginning to wonder if anyone else does and do I need to?!

Thanks!
