41  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: UK Only swap (sign ups til April 30, send out 31st May) on: May 16, 2012 03:23:18 AM
Hey folks! Sorry I've not checked in for a few days, work has become SUPER busy, more so than ever - I've never been so quiet in a swap so just letting you know I am ALIVE! And chugging along nicely Cheesy

Lovesclutter, draping is the MOST fun ever! I was taught during my fashion years at college and it just.. stuck!

Hazelhoneylove, I'd love to see your vest Cheesy

dewshinesdopp - cannot wait to see you start on your corset! I can't wait to start on mine either! I've secured a photoshoot with an awesome photographer and I need 3 dresses by the end on may.. EEK!

Here's the other dress so far. It's funny, when I started, it didn't really fit me (too small!), but the more stitches I put in, the smaller it got and as I'm losing weight, it's like I'm shrinking with the dress :/ looool Anyway, here! It still needs a bunch of roses Smiley

43  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Tea stained lace atlas dress on: May 14, 2012 02:11:20 PM
New dress finished this afternoon Smiley The bodice is a super cool antique style atlas fabric that I picked up at my local fabric store and never found a decent project for (apart from a tote which is floating around on here somewhere) and the skirt is a nice weight cotton with lace, all tea stained and lovely, that I picked up months ago! It's a wrap around style so no need to fuss with buttons or zips - WIN! Cheesy

Naantje, wishing you all the best - my mum had a DVT in her leg and I remember how stressful it was for her at the time Sad

My goal this week is to get my exercise sorted! My sister took me shopping and bought me running shoes (seriously, they are awesome dark grey with pink laces, kids shoes as I have small feet (saves some money too!)) a decent sports bra/running leggings and top, we bought exercise balls and everything! Trying to tone up as so far I've only lost weight by sorting out my diet, but I think with exercise too I'll really notice the changes in my body!

We went for a jog around the block the other day and found a free OUTDOOR GYM, literally 2 minutes walk from our house, what are the chances of that! We're waiting to see what sort of people use it before frequenting it often as it's slap-bang in the middle of a dodgey looking housing estate but wow, what a find! So far the two times we've been for a look it's been empty (first time it was raining and we had a go! Second time was yesterday, about 8pm on a lovely evening!) I'm definitely not a good runner at the moment though. I can only manage about maybe 80-100m before I get a stitch and can't breathe Sad But I WILL work on it and improve! We went for a 3.4 mile power walk/jog/run yesterday which was rather nice, if a bit stressful!

Hey folks, me again! The lemon bleach thing didn't work.. it still black and DARK! It's acetate velvet.. maybe the colour won't budge Sad

Anyway, whilst I'm working on the roses of my other dress at home and by hand, I've picked up where I left off on another dress from WAY back in this thread, here's the last time we saw it:

And this is the progress I've made today:

Granted, it's not the most amaaaazing transformation so far, but this one went away in a bag because I felt it was getting uglier by the stitch, but now Ive got it out again I'm looking at it in a whole new light!

I've got the remains of a white cotton skirt lining and some lace having a bath in my washing up bowl at the moment surrounded by tea, this will create a petticoat type underskirt to help with that gaping hole at the front to create a bit more dignity for the wearer! The zip has been an issue with this dress ever since I put the damn thing in, so I may have to re-think the opening of it but hey - that's what's great about this style! Mistakes become a BIG part Cheesy:D:D

So far so good, I still need to blend the bodice into the skirt as it looks too blockey right now but it looks so much better than before - I think!

I've lemonned my corset!! lol. I have tested a bit on the inside so now playing the waiting game! If it doesn't work I'll just work on it with dark colours but dark isn't really my thang y'know! Cheesy

dewshinesdopp, looking forward to seeing some progress shots, the corset looks fab as is!
