1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: creative ways of wrapping/presenting jewelry? on: December 08, 2007 12:05:36 PM
Not sure if it's what you mean, but I'll tell the story anyway;

One Christmas when I was a kid I'd bought my mum some earrings she'd been commenting on. Then one day and my mum were out in town looking at random things and passed a game. You know the sort where you play darts or hook a duck to win a cute thing. Well she really liked these little rabbits wearing dresses they were giving away as prizes and commented on it. So, the next day or so, after school I went into town and played said game to win one of these rabbits. I put the earrings onto the rabbit's ears and wrapped in cellophane with ribbon. She opened it delighted but it took her ages to notice the earrings! Which was an even bigger surprise as she only thought I'd won her a rabbit. ^__^

Thanks for all you're lovely comments they're very encouraging. I laughed myself when I came up with the sitting down robin with the stick legs. He's enjoying a nice warm cup of tae!

I only sent the felt robins to my relatives as I was only going to really send cards to them (and the fact it takes a while to hand sew robins) but ended up printing a few more for other friends as well. =)

Nice idea. I don't know anything about making collars from scratch but I'd love to have a bash myself. An idea for now though would be maybe to buy cheap plain collars and decorate them in some way? Although it would be nice to sew some of your own. Can you buy the little buckles etc? I know you can buy studs and bells.

Idea of how to make a collar; Get a felt strip to the desired length and thickness, wrap around some pretty material, sew and embellish? I must try it at some point. =)

Sweeties! I want to eat your Christmas tree!
5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Think of the robins! (card/ornaments) on: December 07, 2007 05:56:01 AM

This year my card making was incredibly successful. I often end up making cards far too late and not getting to send my relatives in the United States anything. But this time (providing nothing scary happens on the way into town, touch wood) they will be getting one of these!!!

The wee robin is made from felt and is for their tree/etc. Sorry I don't have any better pics of those. Camera = poo =(

Here is what the image on the card looks like. I drew this in pencil, scanned it in and coloured it on the computer with Paint Shop Pro.

Please do not reproduce these images. They are copyright to me. Thankyou.

I'm so sorry. I hope creating new things will make you feel a little better at lease. Good luck and have a lovely Christmas/Winter. x
8  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: little winter diorama on: December 05, 2007 07:58:01 AM
This is beautiful. I've been browsing many places for ideas to make nice Christmas things to decorate my home. I saw a little diorama of a bath house in a wee antique shop in Galway last week and was wondering how to make a Christmasy one. This had made my day. So pretty. I'd like to make something similar this year, that is, if I get my "wreath" done. Cards are in the bag so... =P

I nearly passed out when I saw this. It's absolutely brilliant.

Can I ask what kind of paint you use for the offspring shirt? I want to design some hand made shirts myself for a band, and am not sure what kinds of paints works well. It's to be kind of psychedelic, so bright paint will be ideal.
