1  FIBER ARTS / Felting: Completed Projects / My first ever piece of wet felted felt...tartan my way! on: September 04, 2007 07:22:45 AM
Well, I was at a study weekend at my local church and as part of our activities we had lots of cool activities to do which included basket weaving, mud brick making, pottery, woodworking, spinning...and FELTING! I had been drooling over all the amazing wet felted stuff ont his board and I knew I had to have a go! So I decided to cram as much colour into it as possible and then I was inspired to go for a tartan design. I LOVE IT! I need to try this again...I'll have to buy some supplies first. I'm thinking of making a little coin purse out of this piece but I may not be able to bring myself to put a needle and thread to it...!
Here it is!

And here's the back...

And here it is held up to the sun so you can see how I didn't really think about the thickness...next time I'll make the back colour a lot thicker...

I think I'm gonna take it with me to bed...I can snuggle up to it's  softness...

Oh and I guess I should tell you about what it's got in it...wool roving, silk and wool yarn. And I made it on bubble-wrap.

I really love this piece of felt! What do you all think? Cheesy
2  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / The Swap Gallery / Re: Little Visitor Round 7 Gallery! on: August 22, 2007 10:10:35 PM
Wow, I was just going through all my photos...and I have sooo many. I'm having such a hard time going through them and deciding which ones I want to print! I can't print them all...I'll go broke! I think I will have to do the same thing as most of the others and include the extras on a cd. I'm not much of a scrapbooker either, but I plan on making my album something different...Cheesy You'lll all have to wait and see! Cheesy

Mmmm, the weather here is lovely and rainy, I felt like I hadn't seen rain in FOREVER (we have huge water restrictions here due to the shortage of water!). So Mr Zither probably thought I was crazy getting all excited over the wind and the rain! For now we are just sitting and relaxing...we went on another photo adventure today and we're all tuckered out!

ps. kikigirl, it looks like Al is having an awesome time!
3  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My finished Patti Cardigan on: August 15, 2007 07:10:39 AM
That is the most adorable knitted cardigan I've ever seen. You make me want to learn to knit!
4  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Embroider a page for a sampler book swap! on: August 08, 2007 10:17:37 PM
I was just browsing through the Tea Towel Tour Swap Gallery and drooling over the beautiful embroidery...but I was thinking that I couldn't bear to actually use a tea towel for fear of ruination!

So then I had to think about what other ways you could have a swap where you received multiple beautifully embroidered items...and then I thought...EUREKA! We could have a set size of a page (I'm thinking smallish...so we can get more pages...Cheesy) and by the end of the swap everyone would have a certain amount of beautifully embroidered 'pages' for a book (I'm not entirely sure how exactly to put together a book..but it couldn't be too hard!) You could also hide the backs of the embroidery if you wanted by sewing the pages back to back...

Of course, if you were so inclined you could use the pages as patches for other things such a bags or clothes! And we could choose themes...or do alphabet books...the possibilities are endless!

What do you all think?? Cheesy
5  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Re: appliqued tees on: August 05, 2007 07:22:09 AM
I absolutely love this idea! I really love the rubiks cube one especially...

Thank you so much...in fact you inspired me to make my own version! Here's a quick pic...

I didn't put much thought into the placement and size of the letters...as you can see here...

Thanks again for inspiring me! I had to wing my own technique because I am unfamilair with freezer paper...it's not readily available in Australia...but I made do with what I had. I also handsewed it...just because I was far too lazy to get my sewing machine out...trust me, next time, I am definitely NOT handsewing it!

Cheesy What do you think?
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Craftalongs / Re: FELT on: August 01, 2007 06:30:30 AM
I finally made another felt...vegetable...creature. Once I made my sister in law a little happy carrot which she has since stuck to a magnet and placed it proudly on her fridge and requested many more happy little vegetables. This is the second vege I've made her, I gave it to her tonight and she was pleasantly surprised! Cheesy

What do you all think?

ps. I am incredibly jealous of that felt stash, verybigjen!
7  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Re: Kurt Halsey Angel Onesie on: July 23, 2007 07:56:58 PM
Wow, this is adorable! If I ever have a baby or too...well, they'd be the best dressed babies in town!

...I'm curious though...how will it wash? I've heard that felt doesn't like being washed in the machine. Hand wash?

I thought I'd better post some pics to show that I actually have been taking Mr Zither with me! But I'm not gonna tell you anything about the shots...that's for later! Mr Zither and I just had the greatest day! Cheesy

9  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: How do you interpret THIS?? on: July 15, 2007 10:53:12 PM
Hey! That turned out really cool Tenille!! Kudos for being the most dedicated!! Cheesy

I tried to start one but I think my yarn is a little too thick. I didn't feel like buying yarn but I'll keep an eye out for the right stuff.
10  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: A little skeleton bear!! on: July 15, 2007 04:11:14 PM
Wow, thanks everyone for the sudden interest in this stuffy! It seems like forever ago when I posted this little fella and now I keep getting comments - you've all made my day(s)!

hikami4065, really? I'm in Australia so I've never even seen a Hot Topic store. That's funny though...maybe I should make a few more!

novastarlet thanks! And yes, this little plushie is in the Little Visitor Swap (she's currently in Montana I think!) I renamed her Nairne (instead of skeleton bear!) for the swap...

Thanks everyone! Cheesy
