Wow, really classy. I love the colours - the very definition of modern quilting. Interesting, very sophisticated pallet, elegant, warm, restrained. the back is awesome. The quilting is beautiful. Great job!!

thanks, MareMare. a lot of people use Andy Rash 'iotacons' for cross stitch, but I haven't seen any other quilts based on his designs.
cheers, Aileen

A while ago (about a year ago, actually) i finally finished a quilt I had been working on for many months. My daughter's boyfriend loves star wars. I came across a great website by Andy Rash, who is an amazing illustrator, and he had pixellated the characters from star wars - http://andyrash.blogspot.com.au/2010/09/1200-star-wars.html.
so i decided this would be a fun quilt. Whew! I chose 10 characters and made up the blocks. On and between the blocks I embroidered various quotes from the movies. I don't have many good photos, but here are the ones I have:

top row:

middle row:

bottom row:

detail of Obiwan:

You can't really see in these pics, but I embroidered these quotes:
at the top of the quilt, in big lettering: A LONG TIME AGO IN A GALAXY FAR, FAR AWAY

Next to Chewy: hrraghrrahgh
coming out of Han's mouth: laugh it up, fuzzball!
Also, at the bottom of Han's block: I know
top of leia's block: I love you
bottom of Leia's block: why you stuck up, half-witted, scruffy-looking nerfherder!
Luke: Never! I'll never turn to the dark side!
Darth: I find your lack of faith...disturbing
R2D2: these are not the droids you're looking for
C3PO: how rude
Obi Wan: use the force, Geoff
Yoda: Do or do not. There is no try.
I realise I don't even have any pics of it after it was quilted and bound.

I don't have many pics, and now my daughter has split up with her boyfriend, so I guess I won't get anymore Sad
anyway it was fun to make and I know how much he loved it. No regrets. Smiley Hope you like it!

I can't even tell you how this made me feel. My beloved brother is dying of cancer and reading your post has made me cry because it is so beautiful. My sincere condolences.
